Hi,

I have the Dell power companion to use with my xps 15. It's charged, but when I plug it into my laptop it causes some issues including the slowing down of the system, stuttering, distorted sound and affecting wifi reception. I updated the BIOS before use as in the power companion documentation, but the problem persists.

Any ideas?

I have a Dell e6430 (not ATG) laptop. I may in the need of a motherboard and am searching for possibilities. It seems there are a few variances which may all work but I am not sure of the compatibility.

Does anyone know FOR SURE which of the different motherboards will work in my e6430.

My specs:

Dell latitude e6430
installed motherboard QAL80 u01

installed cpu intel i5 3320m 2.6 ghz

service tags 1s21cw1

bios A18

8GB ddr3 1333 mhz

no fingerprint reader

high graphics or bluetooth is not important

Screen shows different color vertical and horizontal lines

I've been using Dell inspiring N5010 for almost 5 years.

From last week I'm experiencing this vertical and horizontal lines across my LCD.

Usually , laptops boots up normally and works well. After some time, it start showing these lines. If, by chance it recovers from it, it shows a windows message that "Display drivers stopped working, but it has now recovered".

If it doesn't recover it shows a blue screen with error and I have to forcefully shut it down using power button

It happens randomly.

I've tried D+power button...the screens looks ok.

I've tried fn+power button ....it doesn't show any lcd related error. But later while tests were still running, the screen starts showing those lines.

I'm not sure, but it seems to me the cable  issue between  LCD and motherboard.

Can anyone help me in finding the exact issue?

Good Day everyone, i am looking for a Laptop for my Masters in Architecture and Professional work, a laptop that i will use for the next 5 years if i can.

please feel free to provide any feedback or information that could be helpful.

my main concern is for the laptop to not lag or to take longer time to process things than a desktop.

Programs expecting to be used:

Rhino + grasshopper - modeling (algorithmic calculations)

Autodesk - CAD, Revit, Maya, MAX - rendering

Adobe Suite - Photoshop, Illustrator, ect.

Lumion - animations

i recently purchased a Mobile dell Precision 7510 XCTO BASE, with following specs

Intel® Core™ i7-6920HQ (Quad Core 2.90GHz, 3.80GHz Turbo, 8MB 45W, w/Intel HD Graphics 530)

346-BBRH1Smartcard Reader

490-BCPK1Nvidia® Quadro® M2000M w/4GB GDDR5

391-BCFI115.6" UltraSharp™ FHD IPS Touch (1920x1080) Wide View LED-backlit, camera and microphone

370-ACSV132GB, DDR4-2133MHz SDRAM, 2 DIMMS, Non-ECC

400-AFGV1512GB 2.5 inch SATA Class 20 Solid State Drive

some problem dell had with Windows and their software not being compatible with the hardware.but as i received the laptop, the mouse-pad kept freezing and lagging, this was a concern i had and had to troubleshoot the laptop and eventually send it back, the problem is that the laptop software was not install properly and the hardware was faulty.

is there another laptop that is similar or better than this one

thank you for your time everyone.

Best

Hi, just got the basic XPS 15 9550 from MicrosotStore. I noticed that if either I just closed the lid, or manually select "Sleep", when press power to return the computer actually restarts (like if it had a forced shutdown) instead of waking up to where I left it. for instance, office documents will appear as recovered, browsers will appear as forced closed.

any known solutions or suggestions on how to debug this issue?

My Dell saga

Yes I still hold my breath everytime I push that go button - BUT! - it is still starting faultlessly - its difficult to forget that it chewed through 3 motherboards and every other replaceable part to get there.

I up graded to Win 10 Pro - but that was not a picnic - the video driver appears not to be supported by Win 10 - unbelievable DEll - so had to upgrade - noon-auto - remove video driver - download Win 10 Pro upgrade manually etc - did however upgrade almost faultlessly.

The video driver does give me a bit of grief with a few programs but Win 10 recovers without to much sweat.

However - however - [and I think this is ENTIRELY WIN 10 fault - but I can't help putting a bit of blame to Dell XPS - 15] - I was changing to go somewhere and the laptop was sitting there open - it suddenly rebooted - came up with configuring Win 10 updates - but reopened.

Didn't think more of it - well now that was the problem.

Closed lid - goes into sleep - and later that night with laptop on my knee in front of TV [and tons of urgent work to do] - I opened the lid and pushed start - AND ALL I GOT was a light blue screen.

To explain - I have bitlocker configured to encrypt and decrypt - and have on start up get a light blue screen asking for the decryption password - it has worked faultlessly since turning this on - 1 year ago. Even after Win 10 upgrade.

NOW ALL I HAD was a blank light blue screen.

esc esc - gave me bitlocker - recovery screen - and yes I had the code - it worked and took me to a recovery screen - which gives you allsorts of recovery options - but NONE helped me - and no option recovery modes actually recovered me to Win 10.

CMD prompt takes you to a useful screen but this only told me all data was there - and for the record a USB stick worked to allow export of data if I needed [I was now into RECOVER/RESTORE gut wretching mode].

Cmd prompt also allows DOS like decryption of bitlocked drives - which I did - that worked - but still no boot.

Then after trolling the internet for hours and really getting no where - I found a entry [almost missed "just type unlock bitcode in blank blue screen"

AND YEP _ GUESS WHAT - worked 100% - [I had even been able to roll back the previous Win 10 update that started all this] - it booted into - the auto cleanup and Win 10 opened 100% as though nothing had been out of place.

Bitlocker - through Win 10 said drives were unencrypted - but I still had blank light blue screen on boot.

So with tongue in cheek - I told Win 10 to bitlock encrypt the drives - [apparently bitlocker Win 10 is a different from previous versions] - anyway it encrypted faultlessly and yep light blue blank screen still there - now what.

Through Win 10 I told it to turn off bitlocker ALL drives - so it goes into decrypt - and if you then look at properties the only clue that it has decrypted is Bitlocker option is "Turn on BitLocker"?

- so I rebooted - and OMG - all was normal - light blue screen NOW gone - normal Windows boot - 100%

And that is the end of the TALE.

Inspiron 15

I have the biggest piece of junk laptop that Dell cannot fix and they will not replace it. They tried over 200 times to fix it but still refuse to take it back. And they have over 100 hours of their time in this junk laptop! How much do they make per hour? 0.5 cents? The cost of this laptop was $350 American dollars. I'm still fighting with Dell for over 2 years and paying on it and it does not work! Instead of sending me a new one because I bought a new one, they offered me a refurbished. What kind of <profanity> is that?

Inspiron 15 7559, Whea_uncorrectable_error

Hi,

I've had the Dell Inspiron 15 7559 4k laptop since around January 2016 and I've had a lot of blue screen errors. It's always the 'whea_uncorrectable_error' blue screen that I get.

It mostly happens when I'm in the middle of using a program like Gamemaker, Photoshop or Maya and even when browsing in Chrome, but it's never once happened while playing a game, so I thought it might of had something to do with the Intel graphics, which I changed the drivers multiple times and nothing changed.

Most recently, the laptop has been giving me a critical error (shown in Dell's Support Assist) while going to Sleep or Hibernate mode. I noticed it when I had closed the lid for it to go to Sleep mode, about 2 hours later, once it automatically goes to Hibernate mode, the laptop would just switch off. I noticed this because when I switched it back on, I would have to switch the numlock back on to enter my password and none of my programs were still loaded. I checked Support Assist and another Critical Error had popped up, but with no error report.

I've tried reseting the BIOS, but nothing changed apart from the function key was reset - I've never needed to change anything in the BIOS. All drivers and the BIOS is up to date. I also switched off Fast-boot as it was one of the many things I read that might help the issue, but didn't. This was a clean install onto the M.2 drive I bought, but also did a full reset via the Windows setup thing, to put Windows back to the start before anything was installed.

I'm running Windows 10 Home 64, 8gb ram, Samsung 850 m.2 250gb for the OS and i7-6700hq

Any help would be appreciated

Unable to find the 2nd RAM slot Dell Latitude e5470

Hi

Just received my new e5470 with 4GB RAM, I wanted to upgrade to 16GB (2x8GB) which I have from my previous laptop. I found only one slot underneath, the usual place for the 2nd slot next to it does not have the slot set up and it is blank. I have also removed and checked under the keyboard but it was not there either.

The BOIS setup stated that I have two slots, one is 8GB which is I know I have (I changed the 4GB which came originally with one of the two 8GB that I have) and the other is "not slotted" which I am unable to locate.

Does anyone know where is the other slot located?

Thank you

Disable "Tap Click" in Windows 10 on a XPS 1340

After Upgrading to Windows 10 the Synaptics software does not work.

Tap click menu is gone from the task bar icon.

Tried a whole bunch of different drivers from other dell XPS laptops only to no avail.

I did find the solution after a bit reading through countless threads, but not exactly what others are suggesting.

Once you have the Dell Touchpad driver installed with is the Synaptics software, why Dell doesn't correct this I'll never understand.

GoTo:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Synaptics/SynTPEnh/PopupConfig

Then look for "ShowTapToClick" in the right field, change the value from 0 to 1 and reboot.

The Tap Click menu will be active now, simple uncheck the tap to click!!!!

Dell Update

Hi. I have a Dell Inspiron 5759.

May I ask if it's possible to view a list of what has been installed by Dell Update?

If I type 'Dell Update' in to Windows 10 search bar, I am informed that this is a desktop application.

But selecting this does not open an application, instead a desktop message appears "Dell update: Get the latest updates from Dell".

The application "Dell SupportAssist" is nice but I don't see an option to see which Dell updates have been installed. Is this possible? I'd really like to see what has downloaded to my computer.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Changing keyboard on an Inspiron 5558

$

Hi guys,

I would be grateful is someone were to help me the following:

I have an Inspiron 5558 and it has a keyboard with the following model code 583-BCES. I think it is an Internal American keyboard, I bought it in Switzerland - so it may be a Central European keyboard, but according to my Order description and Google it is an American keyboard. I want to change it to a UK/Ireland. I can buy the keyboard but will the layout of the keys on the UK/Ireland keyboard work with the computer I have. I ask because clearly the layout of the keys on the two keyboards is different and I do not want to buy a UK/Ireland one and discover it does not work. Even if the UK/Ireland keyboard 'fits', I presume I need to reconfigure the key set-up on the OS too? In case this has any bearing, I am using Windows 10.

Thanks in advance.

Lawrence.
