Dell customer support can't find my order and no one is helping me!!

Hello!

So I just ordered a Dell XPS 15 and got the confirmation email and everything. When I try to click on see order status a blank page shows up, when I try to search by the Internet Receipt Number, nothing is found. I tried calling Dell Norway several times, but a automatic voice machine say I should go to the website for answers or chat with Dell. When I open a chat no one there is willing to help me and are giving me a email to a 3rd party shop that sells Dell computers, but they can't help me because I didn't place a order with them.

I'm getting so frustrated with this I'm considering canceling my order!!

I purchased a Dell XPS 15 - 9550 I7. I also purchased a hard drive upgrade (Samsung 950 pro) and was looking to re purpose the old HD as an external. I got an M.2 case that looked like it would fit but it was slightly off and after further reading it seems like there is a format change so that is going to be a no go. Could anyone point me in the right direction to get an enclosure that would work, or at lease tell me what i am looking for?

Thanks,

aaron

We did the Windows 10 upgrade and am now unable to log into the computer, after trying all fixes from Microsoft unsuccessfully now I just want to reload win 7 and be done with it, but how do I open the cd drive drawer, there is no pinhole and no key  on the key board to open it up.

Is there a way to manually open it up?

Keyboard removal from 7110

Trying to remove the keyboard on my 7110.  After popping the 4 tabs on the top and sliding a credit card around the edges I started trying to peel it back.  However I'm only removing the top layer of plastic and not the keys.  I'm unable to get under the keyboard itself. I don't want to prod and pry and end up really messing up keyboard.

Removing all of the screws on the bottom of the palm rest does no good. I have watched all the videos I could find and followed the directions in the service manual.

Any suggestions?

Thank you

New XPS 13 can't sleep or hibernate

I've had this computer about 4 days. At first I didn't notice the problem, but I did notice a touchpad wasn't working. I troubleshot that for the first day, downloaded all updates, made sure all drivers were new, bios was the latest version, etc. Finally, had to uninstall Microsoft drivers and install Synaptic drivers. Which seemed to fix that problem.

I believe the first day the computer could sleep. By the 3rd day though I found my battery had completely drained overnight and quickly found the computer wouldn't sleep or hibernate. It would turn off though and restart.

I used powercfg and event viewer to see what was happening. In event viewer I noticed that everytime I would try and sleep I would get an error from Runtimebroker.exe, about not having proper permissions. I found a solution to that, but then event viewer said that a printer driver was preventing sleep. I uninstalled that. Then event viewer was saying USBHUB3 was preventing sleep. I disabled that. Still wasn't sleeping and from then on event viewer just said "an unknown event" was preventing sleep.

Got some errors in from powercfg too, the most worrisome was "aspm disabled due to hardware incompatibility." Never figured this one out. Also in event view was "Intel(R) Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework" errors.

At this point, I just did a fresh install with a full wipe. Everything went fine (although strangely the Synaptic drivers I had to install manually last time tried to install automatically). Before I made any changes I tried to sleep again and no luck. Plus I see all the errors I saw last time: Runtimebroker permission errors, ASPM and TDP errors.  Plus my touchpad *** again with the Microsoft drivers.

I'm out of ideas. Any thoughts?

Dell Inspiron N4030 Maximum HDD and RAM capacity

Hello. I want to upgrade my Dell Inspiron N4030 (with Pentium processor, running Windows 7 Ultimate) to the maximum specifications allowable by the system, but I have heard different maximum specifications from different sources, and I can't find official information from Dell to know for sure what is compatible. The website that I am buying the components from (crucial.com) guarantees that I can use a 1TB solid state drive and 2x4GB RAM modules without a problem, but I have also heard that 6GB of RAM and 500GB of HDD space is all that the system will accept.

These are the components that I want to use:

(Crucial MX200 500GB SATA 2.5 Inch Internal Solid State Drive - CT500MX200SSD1)

(Crucial 8GB Kit (2 x 4GB) DDR3L-1600 SODIMM - CT2294998)

Any help would be very much appreciated, I have looked all over for this information and gotten nowhere. Thank you :)

Dell Inspiron 3542 not starting up

Hi. My Dell Inspiron 3542 isn't starting up properly. Its more like its continuously restarting on its own.

Yesterday night it was working perfectly. I either shut down or hibernated my system. But today morning when I tried to turn on my system it started causing problems.

When I press the power button the power LED blinks white for about 1 second, then turns off for about 4 seconds, then repeats the cycle endlessly. Alongside, the keyboard back-light is also lighting up (low brightness) for about 1 second then turns off for about 4 second, then repeats the cycle endlessly. There aren't any other signs of life, nor is there any error display or beeping sound.

Please help.

Dell M6600 Windows 10 USB xHCI driver not working.

I have been using Widows 10 for some time now on  my M6600. I can put up with some of the incompatibility but have just discovered that my USB 3.0 ports are not working. I have tried the Intel site scan and nothing I do seems to rectify the problem. It is the USN xHCI drivers that is the problem. Anyone got a fix for this?

My dog ripped the cord out of my inspiron 15 5000 series and I am getting a warning that the charger is not genuine. The computer runs but is not charging the battery. I had the power jack replaced but I am still getting the error. There appears to be no damage to the charger.

Lat 6430: no video with battery in AND keyboard failure at boot

All of a sudden some strange behavior on my Latitude 6430, turning it on resulted in black screen, no video.  Hard drive and everything else seems to proceed fine.  While I cant see it, I suspect the boot ends up at the Windows login screen I just cant see it.

Pull the battery out and use AC video works fine.  This is a newer Dell replacement battery (1 yr old?).  When on AC it also now shows Keyboard failure at startup > Press F1 to continue.  Keyboard works fine but startup doesn't seem to think so.

Ran diagnostics and report showed all well.

Any tips to deciding motherboard versus just a battery issue?  Hate to purchase another battery if its mobo related.

Thanks everyone.

New Dell XPS13 - activating TPM 1.2

Hi, I have a new XPS13 9350.  I have not enabled Bitlocker or added any admin or other passwords in BIOS.  Using W10 64bit.  So as far as I know, I have a Windows PIN to log in once I boot the machine and a Windows 10 password that goes to my Microsoft account.

I have checked the BIOS, TPM is activated and enabled.

I went to Windows Trusted Platform Module tonight and tried to set a TPM password.  It appears that there is already a password set . . . though I have never set one.  If I click Prepare the TPM it asks for a password.  If click change password . . . it asks for a password.  I tried my PIN and Windows password but no luck.

I went to Dell.com and there was a video on Enabling TPM but I got a "Invalid Content Specified" every time a clicked on the video.  dell.com/support/contents/us/en/19/videos/videoPlayer/1uaXZjdjqJhzsW0F7Ha4NpM-J0LzTEwq

In short, for a new Dell Laptop - where a user has not set any unique TPM related passwords, is there something I am missing here?  Do I need to set an Admin password first to make this work?  Have done a good deal of online research but no clear answer.  Unfortunately I cannot find any detailed XPS13 user guide beyond a simple Reference Guide and basic Service Manual.

Thanks.  Kent

XPS 12 9Q33 - Beep Codes and Screen Resolution Issues

$

A few weeks ago, I developed two problems with my Dell XPS 12 that seem like they may be related, but unfortunately, I haven't been able to solve either.

1) The first issue is that sometimes when I turn on my laptop (this has been progressing to EVERY time), it emits a series of 8 short beeps.  I can then turn it back off and on, and it starts normally.  (Except for today, which took several tries.)  I found that 8 short beeps is the beep code for the LCD screen.  However, I'm not having any screen issues.  I also ran the full diagnostics from Dell support and passed everything, including all LCD tests.

2) The second issue is regarding screen resolution.  Again, not EVERY time, but sometimes after my laptop has been in sleep mode and I "wake" it, the screen has resized from its normal HD (I have it on the recommended screen setting) to a much smaller, square width, resetting all my windows with it.  I can set it back, but it's VERY annoying to keep having to do this!  I have tried a number of fixes I found online, including making register alterations and changing when the laptop sleeps, but none has helped.

I'm by no means a computer expert, but I can find my way around with guidance, and I would appreciate any help with this!!!

Dell Inspiron 15R 5520 BIOS A14 bug & crash

I can not change Legacy boot order in A14 BIOS. I'm not able to set CD/DVD Drive before Hard Drive. Even if I save changes, the BIOS will always use Hard Drive to boot instead CD/DVD Drive. When I check again the bios boot order, CD/DVD Drive always is at last place. If I set it to be the first then the whole BIOS crashes down when I try to save changes. Is it a feature or a bug?
