I have bought this laptop on december and since then i sometimes encounter a problem: whenever the laptop is plugged in, the cpu randomly gets stuck at 0,96ghz or 1,56 sometimes, and the only thing i can do is to get the battery out while laptop is plugged in and put the battery back in. Sometimes i can just plug out the cable and wait a few seconds and plug it back in and the cpu gets back to its normal frequency, or... sometimes i just have to do these things more than 1 time to get it solved.
I installed the latest bios driver so this isn't the problem...

Well after several attempts through all the normal channels, I am coming here in hope that my issue can be resolved. I am looking to purchase an additional 16 GB DUAL IN-LINE MEMORY MODULE, 16GB, 2133, 2RX8, 8G, DDR4, EXPANDABLE SYSTEM dell number 370-ACOZ (taken from my configuration info) for my new precision mobile workstation 3510 with XEON processor.

Just got a brand-new Precision Mobile Workstation 7510 about a week ago. Out of the box and prior to installing any updates or new software, the touchpad will, randomly every minute or so, stop responding to input, and the cursor would very slowly inch itself (usually creeping slightly up and to the right). This would occur for anywhere from a few to 10 or so seconds before the touchpad would start working again. No change in the past week.
The pointer stick works as normal during the time the touchpad is not responding.
I have tried all of the suggestions I found recommended or could think of:
I was about to call Dell (I have Pro Support) thinking that it is a hardware problem, but interestingly, there is no sign of the problem in the mouse-enabled Dell GUI BIOS set-up screen. I would assume that if it were a hardware issue, it would still show up there.
FWIW, the Dell touchpad icon in the system tray sometimes, but not always, displays touchpad input in the center of the touchpad when this occurs. The cursor movement is very slight--at the rate of about a couple of millimeters each instance, totaling about an inch of cursor travel over 10 minutes (I'm watching it do it right now while I post this from my old machine).
Any suggestions for anything else to try before I call support and schedule a call for a touchpad/palmrest replacement?

My company has a Vostro 3550 that was functioning perfectly until yesterday. We were upgrading all of the office computers to Windows 10, and the Vostro 3550 upgraded successfully (booted into Windows 10) when a monitor was plugged into the VGA port. Some research revealed that this is a BIOS problem and that I needed to update the BIOS.
I then ran the Dell BIOS flash utility from within Windows, and it blue-screened halfway through. Since then, the Vostro 3550 won't power up (at all). It's stone cold dead. The LED on the adapter works fine, but nothing happens at all when hitting the power button. I've tried removing the battery and the AC adapter and clearing any residual power by hitting the power button, then plugging only the AC adapter back in, but to no avail. No lights illuminate on the laptop itself when plugged in.
Any suggestions? It was working perfectly yesterday.

I am having the same issue. I just bought this laptop from somebody who had completely erased the laptop before selling to me , telling me I had to reinstall windows vista onto it. I tried putting disc in and as the laptop (Inspiron1545) reboots, it loads to DeLL screen and option for setup and boot pressing f12 comes up and when selected, options come up where I select CD\DVD then the entire DELL screen comes back loading over and over again. loads, goes black like its trying to boot , white blinker comes up at top right, then just reloads over and over again.
I have run a diagnostic and everything has passed including extended diagnostic. What do I do ?! I just purchased this laptop and it is not working ? Please help if you could. If directly emailing me will make this easier please, feel free to !!

My Dell Inspiron 3542 power off When Booting, Sometimes on Desktop, Sometimes on BIOS.I Checked Power Adapter, Battery, RAM & Hard Disk. They Working Fine.
Got a New BIOS update available notification a couple days ago, did the update and the update was completed successfully. Then after shutting down and when I tried to start my laptop last day, it is not working. No response at all, no sounds, no LED, no fan sound.
Any idea how to fix this?

got a Dell XPS 13 9350 (i7 iris 540 / QHD) and was pretty excited.
Installed all updates (driver/BIOS,....) and even did in right order for WD15 dock.
Only Chrome and Steam installed.
There still seems to be a weird fan control issue with this device:
- Fan stays quiet (off) when doing nothing or only browsing the web. (+/-52°C)
- Watching Youtube (even 720p only) and the fan kicks in after the device gets heats up. When unplugged the temps are about 70°C when the fan starts. Noise is very annoying even at lowest speed. I don't know why a high end device like this isn't capable of doing basic tasks cooled passively. Even a FireTV Stick , every phone or Raspberry Pi can do this. So very disappointed.
- When plugging Dell WD15 (USB-C) dock into the XPS 13 (external monitor, GBe, USB, Charging via USB-C) the temps raise from 50°C to 60°C immediately. Fan starts earlier at +/-60°C. Why?
The fan cools the device to 49°C and then stops for a while, starting again at 50 or 55°C. I can't see a pattern. When doing light tasks (Youtube 720p) the fans run constantly and may raise to >70°C.
XPS is in this case always loud and my main complaint.
- When playing games with attached WD15 dock the fans are at full speed (very loud). This is expected, as the heat must go away somehow.
- Already tried many different energy settings (balanced/quiet/....), but the fan control stays always the same.
Read about a BIOS update 1.20 for Dell XPS 15 at "WD15 FAQs", where the fan control seems to be optimized with WD15 dock use.
I'm hoping for a XPS 13 9350 BIOS fix to optimize fan control with WD15 dock and even fan hysteresis.
My suggestions:
- XPS 13 fan should start at a later temperature measurement, to be able to do light tasks without fan noise.
- XPS 13 fan should start at a later temperature measurement when connected to WD15 dock. Seems the fans start more often when the device is charged, so when using USB-C dock it's always the case and not user avoidable. Dell please disable this behaviour!
- XPS 13 fan should stop earlier again (eg. colling down to 60°C and not <50°C)
Dell Command Power Manager "Quiet" setting doesn't change fan control in comparison to "Optimized" setting. So why call it "Quiet"?
I really like my XPS 13, but the fan noise is making me angry after 2 weeks of use. It's not useable for continuous work. [:(]
Already reset BIOS to defauts, did a Windows 10 recovery and ran Dell diagnostics witout errors.
Don't know further helpful steps.

I bought the inspiron 15 i5558-5718slv as a Christmas present and a couple months after having it, the cursor started disappearing. I would get a box or blinking dots on the screen as if the touchscreen thought I was touching it. It would respond to these phantom touches and become unusable.
A tech support rep linked up & turned off the touchpad, but it still happens. It usually happens whe the laptop wakes upfrom sleeping. The only way to fix it is to restart it.
Is there a fix to this problem?
Having an odd SQL problem attempting to get a database moved from one machine to another. Both machines are running SQL 2008 32 bit and are both Windows 2008 servers. When I attempt to back the database up using the SQL tools and restore the .BAK file to the new SQL server, I get the following error:

From everything I’ve read, these errors generally indicate some sort of database corruption. However when I run DBCC CHECKDB on the database on the source server, it comes up perfectly clean... no corruption detected. In fact, this server hosts 8 different databases. All DB’s check out okay on the source server, however none of them will restore to a new server using either of the above methods. I’m having a hard time believing all of them could be corrupt when they show absolutely no indication of a problem.

Just got this thing Monday last week (.June 6, 2016)
There are 2 issues with this
1) After being on after a while, the driver will crash and is reporting in the Windows message center.
75% of the time the driver will recover, but other times the computer must be restarted.
2) After the system turns the display off (no, not sleep), the display will not resume. The computer is unresponsive and the power button must be pressed for several seconds to force the power off.
I have windows 10. Whenever I plug in my charger it sleeps.To get it back I either have to 'close and open' my laptop or 'press the power button'. I tried setting sleep option to 'never' in the control panel and it didn't work . What should I do?
I recently purchased a Del Latitude 7202 Toughbook.
At same time purchased 12V power adapter.
The adapter was shipped separately. SKU 469-4546. The power plug did not fit computer.
It is too fat. Spent 4 hours with tech support and they told me the wrong part was shipped.
They said they would send a replacement. 10 days later I get a package with an HDMI cable in it.
Call support back, was told they would just issue me a credit and I can purchase one online.
I was told I needed part. 450-AAYR. Web page for that part lists the 7202 as compatible.
It arrived yesterday. Still doesn't fit. I am returning it as well.
What is required to get the correct part?

I just installed Windows 10 on my Alienware 17 R2. Installed all the drivers but there is still 1 missing: ACPI\VEN_CPL&DEV_0002 which is actually On screen display driver. On my product's page on alienware website, there is no drivers for Windows 10 but there is one for Windows 8.1. Any of you guys tried it on Windows 10 ? Any risk installing it ?
