Hello all,
First, I want to apologize for my bad English, it is not my usual language. I will try to do my best for describing my issue. Thanks in advance for the time you give to me for reading my post.
So a friend of mine come to give me her laptop, a DELL XPS 17" L702X, she was facing an issue: she doesn't manage to power up her laptop. LED power button turn on for 1/2 second, and nothing else happens...
So I try to power it up, and in fact for power it up I have to play with the power button, I need to press it for a long time (30 second) and click it many times for managing to power up the computer.
When the computer is started, everything is OK, I run the DELL diagnostics (full) everything is OK too.
I can use the computer for many hours, everything is still OK.
If I reboot the computer from Windows, it works and reboot normally.
But if I shut down the computer and I try to power up with power button, I have the same issue, the Lord of the power button light for 1/2 second and nothing else happen and I have to play and long press the power button to power it up.
So I change all the top case palm rest cover (with power button, ribbon, etc...), the computer's behavior is still the same.
I have reset the mainboard with a clearCMOS, I have tried to disconnect and reconnect everything, I have tried to boot with only the necessary component (without hard drive, RAM, DVD, WLAN card, etc....), it is the same.
So I suspect the capacitors to be faulty, I check the mainboard, I see just 1 chemical capacitor and it seems to be OK.
How can I check that? Is there any other capacitors like ceramic capacitors? How to check that too? What do you think about that issue?
Thanks in advance,
Kind regards,
