Problem with wake and sleep after updating driver

Hi,

I have an Inspiron 7547 laptop since early 2015, I've made the conversion to Windows 10 from the first day of general availability and I didn't have any problems with it but I've tried to keep my drivers up to date to avoid any incompatibilities.

So, I updated the Intel Management Engine Interface Driver to the current version 11.0.0.1153,A00, and my laptop wouldn't wake from sleeping by closing the lid. Also, sometimes when I tried a shutdown everything seemed to stop (screen, hd, keyboard back-light) but the power button light.

I tried to uninstall the updated driver to recover the old one (11.0.0.1146 I think) and it worked for a day until windows update decided to update it to Intel's latest (11.0.0.1173) with which I had the same problems. I uninstalled it once again but this time there was no return to the older driver.

I have deactivated the automatic updates for drivers in windows update, but I would like to have the older driver to install it. I can't find it on the dell website.

For now, I am not using the Intel driver and the device manager shows a PCI Simple Communications Controller in an Other Devices folder.

Have anyone an idea about how to fix the problem or point me to the older driver ?

I'm writing here in the hope that someone will be able to help me out as the Dell Customer Service has proved useless. I order a laptop on the 17/09/15 and it still hasn't arrived because of a series of inconveniences. First Dell didn't call me to confirm the order and did not attempt to notify me. I found out the parcel had been sent back even though I replied to the confirmation email and called Dell about it. Frankly I think it's ridiculous that a company such as Dell accepted a payment of 579.00£ for a laptop and then decided to held it back without notifying it. I had already received an internet receipt and an Invoice document for the payment, so there was no reason why my laptop shouldn't have come.

It's now the 19/10/15 and I still haven't received my laptop. Dell made one attempt to contact me and their operator said he was going to check with the dispatching office and ring me back, but he never did. I tried to ring the Customer Service and I sent two emails, but they never reply. Anyone here can tell me how can I file a complaint? The delay has caused me a lot of stress as I need the laptop for work.

Can someone tell me how to file a complaint for a missing laptop and poor customer service? I ordered a laptop on 17/09/15 from Dell and it never came. Firstly Dell didn't call me to confirm the order, so I rang them to confirm.  I received an online receipt for the order and an Invoice for the payment of 579.00£, so there was no reason for the parcel not to be sent. Dell made one attempt to contact me,and the person I spoke to told me he was going to check with another office and ring me back in ten minutes.  Nobody from Dell ever rang me back. I tried to ring the Customer Support number and nobody ever answers after I get sent through the right office to make my enquiry. I sent several emails as well, but nobody replied. Today is the 19/10/15 and my order still hasn't arrived.

Frankly I think it's ridiculous how a company such as Dell would fail to notify me that my order is being held back after they accepted a payment of 579.00£. Not to mention the poor Customer Service I received.  

Can someone help me on how to address this issue because clearly I am doing something wrong? I would like Dell to consider speeding up my order and give me a refund for the stress this has caused to my work. I needed the laptop for work and the delay has caused me a lot of problems.

laptop does not come on fully when the power button is pressed but rather I hear a continuous beeping sound. Now graphic on the screen. Where can I go for help in italy.

Hey, today I tried to connect my laptop to my Tv with a hdmi cable,and then it didn't react.

I tried to restart the computer- then it showed me a blue screen saying I have a problem, and it restarted again. And so goes the loop. After running diagnostics it says I have an

error code 2000-0142

validation 78137

Msg: hard drive 0 s/n W0V682MF, short self  test unsuccessful.

What should or can I do?

This issue has been affecting my laptop for sometime but the laptop now refuses to boot at all now, only intermittently allowing me to F2 into the BIOS settings .. there are pages of people on the support forum complaining of this issue, with absolutely no input whatsoever from a Dell representative. Now seeing that this is certainly a BIOS issue, nothing to do with user mis-operation or faulty parts, are Dell going to finally help me/us with this particular issue ?

My laptop is out of warranty but because as I mentioned this issue is not due to user mis-operation or faulty part I would expect Dell to assist.

Hello

I reinstalled the Win 7 pro 64bit on my E6410. LAN and Wifi was working fine. Windows is up to date, and have an option to upgrade to Win 10 pro. For no reason LAN stopped and I got an error message:

"Intel 82577LC Gigabit Network Connection. This device cannot start. (Code 10)"

I deleted, then  reinstalled the driver downloaded from Intel, but still comes up. I tried all suggestion I could find on the net but nothing helped.  BIOS is the latest, A16 version. 

Please advice.... been desperate...

How do I install device drivers on Inspiron 15?

I have an Inspiron 15. The hard drive went out on it, so I've installed a new one. Have installed my OS. Now I need to install the device drivers. I've downloaded them all as an iso files and burned that to a DVD.

I cannot click on any of the individual files on the DVD -- they all start with /, and I get an error message saying Windows can't find the file when I double-click.

If I try to use control panel to update the driver for a specific device and point to that DVD, I get an error message saying it cannot find the device driver on that DVD.

Help, please?

Dell 5720 shut down at start up

Hi, mi dell 5720 is shutting down after 2 - 4 seconds I turn it on, then when I press the power button again, it loads normally.. 

This is happening since last week

I tried changing boot options in bios but nothing changed.

Any Ideas?

I have an Inspiron 15 3520 with windows 8, When I tried to boot up it gives an Blue Screen Error. So when I trouble shoot at boot up (shift+F8) I found the following:

Error Code 2000-01 42

Validation 65603

Msg: Hard Drive ) -S/N SZX1J90CC25033. Short cell Test unsuccessful.

......

(I have seen same error code with different validation code but none with the same validation code.)

Please Help me with the problem. Looks Like some hardware related issue.

On screen display of volume level

I just got my Inspiron 17 5758 and when I adjust the volume using the F2/F3 keys, there is no onscreen display to show what level the volume is being set to. I think this used to be done using the Dell Quickset utility.

I recently upgraded from Windows 7 to windows 10. I own a Inspiron 5520. After the upgrade the webcam does not work. The light flashes when I use skype, but no image shows up. I tried downloading the drivers but cant seem to run them.

Can I get some help please? Desperate and seeking help urgently.

Lattitude 6430u touchpad scroll issue Windows 10 in Explorer

Hi,

So, I've recently installed Windows 10 on my device. All went smoothly and it runs pretty well, except for one minor, yet very annoying issue: two finger scrolling doesn't work in Windows Explorer. It works perfectly fine in other applications such as Chrome or Edge. It just doesn't work in Explorer (not IE, Explorer the file manager).

I also have a pointstick in my keyboard, which also scrolls perfectly fine in Explorer. A external mouse also scrolls as you'd expect. It's just the two finger scrolling on the touchpad. I've updated the driver to the newest available on the Dell website, I've tried older versions of the driver... nothing works unfortunately.

Like I said, it's not a major issue, but it sure is annoying.

For the record, it's an Alps touchpad using driver version: 10.1207.101.102

Does anyone have the same issue and/or has found a solution?

I upgraded to Windows 10 but now the computer does not turn off properly.
It seems that some processes remain active even pc apparently appears to be off.
This causes an abnormal consumption of the battery.
I tried to reinstall Windows 10 and turn off the quick start but the problem persists.

Hi,

My laptop has become extremely slow (I'm writing this on a friends laptop) and can't figure out why. I've tried just about everything I can think of, hardware diagnostics said everything was fine, the sfc /scannow has shown no issues, there aren't any major programmes running in the background and its still quite slow in safe mode too. 

I'll admit that in frustration i've held down the power button to turn it off more than once when it was halted which I'm sure is contributing to this but I've absolutely no idea what to do from here. I've tried scanning the system (Norton Antivirus) but the scan doesn't even get past the first windows file. If this persists I'll probably just go ahead and reinstall windows to see if that helps although I'll have to buy a disc first it seems :). Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I could fix this?

del inspiron 7000 not shutting down

Hey everybody.

I have an inspiron 7000 that lately is no longer shutting down. When I want to shut it down, the display turns black, while the keyboard lights wont turn out. The hard drive seems to stay turned on, until either the battery runs out or until I restart it by pushing the power button for some seconds. Has anybody an idea, what this might be about and what to do about it?

I'm thankful for every suggestion :)

mSATA SSD Boot Disk

I just purchase a M6800 with a 256 GB mSATA SSD and a 1 TB hybrid drive. The computer was loaded with the 1 TB as the boot disk. I want the 256 GB SSD to be the boot disk. There does not appear to be an option for that in the BIOS. Also when trying to load the operating system (using the recovery disk) - before even selecting drive to load it on - the process indicated that drivers were missing. What can be done to properly load Window 8 which will be upgraded to 10 once this is fixed to the 256 SSD and how to I tell the computer to boot from this drive.

I do not understand why this was not the default instillation to begin with. We have these SSD drives to increase the speed of out operating systems and software programs.
