Reinstalling Windows 7 and creating new recovery partition for M14XR2
Hi there,
i have purchased an alienware M14XR2 laptop from a seller online recently and the warranty has expired. I had noticed that there is no recovery partition made and i would like to do a clean installation of the Windows 7 and a recovery partition.How can i go about doing so?
This is what i was given during the purchase.

Simple steps to get Inspiron 15 to boot from USB
I have an Inspiron 15 7548 running Windows 10 and have created a Rescue USB for it (in case of hard disk failure) using Paragon Hard Disk Manager. The USB is FAT-32 formatted.
So, how do I get the Dell to boot from the USB?
I have tried various settings on the boot tab of the BIOS, so far without success.
1. Should I use UEFI or Legacy?
2. Turn Secure Boot On or Off?
3. What change do I need to make to the boot order?
4. What's the significance of the Network option in the boot list?
5. Make changes just to BIOS settings (F2) or also to boot settings (F12)?
6. Mount USB drive in USB2 or USB3 port?
Help would be greatly appreciated.

Inspirion 13 7000 (7348 ) slow internet connection.
My laptop Inspiron 7348 has very slow internet connection, especially if I am working in chrome. Internet gets disconnected very frequently when I am in other room which is away from router. In other laptops at the same time internet works fine and this new laptop has connection problem.
Can anybody help how to fix this problem.

System won't reboot and CTL-ALT-DEL doesn't work
I have a Dell System XPS L702X, which is no longer able to a restart, it just hangs at a black screen while shutting down for about 10 seconds and turns off, This started happening after upgrading to Windows 10. I tried to do a reset to the factory installation via the RECOVERY partition, but the option to do that is no longer available:
Things that I've tried:
- I reset the BIOS to their default settings, no change,
- I tried removing the HD, replaced it with a different drive, performed a clean install of Windows, and no change.
Also, using CTL-ALT-DEL outside of Windows (i.e. the BCD boot menu), causes the system to lockup. What did Windows 10 do to my system? Has anyone seen this before?

How to change backlit keyboard duration for Inspiron 15 5558
I cannot access the backlit keyboard setting to adjust the duration of the light.
I have tried the following:
- Looking under Windows Mobility Center but it doe not give me that options
- Updated all my drivers to the latest version
- Ran a diagnostics on Dell.com and everything was good
- Tried downloading Quickset but no version compatible with Windows 10
- No applications to download on Dell.com related to keyboard functions
- Battery Manager app only pertained to the battery itself.
I recently purchased the laptop as it came with Windows 8.1 and upgraded to Windows 10. Please help if you can, the 30 second backlit keyboard function is very annoying at night. Thank you!

My laptop does not start, just get a black screen and a single beep
Hi all
I'm new to this forum and really hoping that someone could help me with my particular problem. Recently I've been experiencing issues while starting my laptop (Dell Inspiron 3521), I hear the system start up, but the screen remains black and I get a single intermittent beep. having searched the internet I've learnt that this single beep is the code for a checksum error. so I took my laptop to a technician here in Spain and they, after about a week of checking have come back and told me that its a motherboard fault and that I would have to replace the motherboard. Now I'm no computer genius so please forgive my ignorance but surely if the motherboard was faulty I would not be able to turn the laptop on at all? Well I took my laptop home, plugged it in and attempted to turn it on, nothing but black screen and beeps. I removed the battery and attempted again, same result. Replaced the battery and on about the forth or fifth attempt the laptop turned on. Does anyone have any suggestions, I'm all ears.

Inspiron 1764 HDD Caddy in DVD Bay
Hello, i bought an HDD caddy to add some storage on my Dell Inspiron 1764 which i upgraded the 500GB HDD by a 240GB SSD and the 4GB Memory by 8GB. I tried many SSDs/HDDs of different sizes from 64GB to 2TB. None of them are detected in the BIOS and the OS as well. The caddy and the SSDs/HDDs are all working properly because i also have a Dell Inspiron 1750 and i tried em all in it, everything works fine. I think the Dell Inspiron 1764 is locked or something. I need some help. Maybe if i could unlock the BIOS like when someone wants to overclock the CPU... Does anybody knows anything about that? Thanks!

windows 7 downgrade right from 8.1 replacement disk
I recently purchased a Inspiron 15 5558 preloaded with windows 7 through downgrade rights from 8.1. The laptop was shipped with a windows 8.1 recovery disk. I routinely (8-12 months) reinstall the OS on my computers.
Since I got a windows 8.1 reinstall disk, do I need to contact Dell for a Windows 7 recovery disk?
Want to avoid having to purchase Windows 7 OEM disk for additional $$.

Dell Inspiron 3521 not starting or not displaying anything
My Dell Inspiron 3521 is not starting suddenly. It won't even load the Dell Logo so I cannot even do Troubleshooting. Even fn+Power button doesn't start the laptop. Although the more troubling issue is that it is showing the LED indicator for on at the bottom, and also shows the charging indicator when I connect the adapter but nothing on the display. Even on long pressing the power button it won't force shutdown. Please guide me how to proceed.

Inspiron 7434 wake up problems

Since upgrading to Win10 I'm having problems when waking up my laptop from sleep / hibernate / shutdown mode.
At first, Everytime it went to sleep mode it was so hard to turn it on. I plugged and unplugged for a few times and eventually it worked.
I changed it to only hibernate and now It forces me to press the start button for around 10 seconds until it wakes up.
The weirdest thing is that it not happen every time...
Any one got idea?

Inspiron 7437 freeze when plugged.

I bought my laptop in the USA a year ago and it came with a problem that I cannot solve (I live out of the states).
When I plug my laptop to the charger the display freeze. I need to plug and unplug for a few times until it works.
Any ideas?
I googled some ideas but no answers.
Win10 didn't resolved it...

Mouse pointer/Cursor
Hi
I purchased Inspiron 15R (5537 i5-4200 - Windows 8) a year ago.
From the day first, I have been facing strange problem with mouse pointer or cursor. Normally, I use external mouse. During normal typing, the CURSOR would change its position to the current position of the mouse POINTER. Initially, I assumed that the since the touch pad is larger than my previous laptop and this touch pad is more sensitive so I am having this problem. But this was not the case.
This happens very frequently that sometime it causes lot of frustration.
Any help in this regard shall be appreciated.

Battery Issue Dell studio 1555
Hello,
My Dell studio 1555 was working fine till yesterday giving 3 hour power back up. When i started it on the first message it gave was that battery can't be recognized. i ran the diagnostic test on dell support website the result gave that battery condition is fine.
From various forums one thing that i could figure out was first step is to upgrade the BIOS. i did that. after that the system has stopped even detecting the battery. The system cannot communicate with the battery. now when i ran the diagnostic test it has failed.
does anybody has suggestion what should i do next?

NEW Dell XPS 13 2015 Ultrabook case/sleeve
I am looking for a sleeve for my beloved Dell XPS 13 2015. The new 2015 model is smaller than the previous XPS 13 models. It measures 11.98" x 7.88" x 0.6". I have just spent 75 mins on-line with a DellChat Expert, only to be told that there isn't a sleeve that is specific to this new model. The 'expert' could only suggest the XPS 13 sleeve (made for the older, larger XPS 13), which is too big OR the 12" XPS sleeve (made for the XPS 12 2-in-1) which is too deep. Does anyone have any suggestions? I already have a laptop bag that I use, but would like a simple sleeve to protect it from the other items I carry with it.

inspiron 3250 trouble
hi all,
when i power up the laptop it gives a message saying windows is repairing.after the bar loads it tells me hard disk error.it sometimes gives me a list of options 1 thru 9 none work.when i run a diagnostic test the ram and hdd fail.any suggestions.i do not have any disks that came with the laptop or a windows 8 disk.any help would be greatly appreciated

Dell 15 3521 - which version of Windows 8 was supplied
Just bought a used one on craigslist and they removed the hard drive. It has a Windows 8 sticker on the base but no version type (home, pro, etc)
I was wondering which version of Windows 8 was originally provided with this series of laptops.
And does anybody know if I can just do a clean install of Windows 10 and have it auto-authenticate?

Latitude E6510 BIOS Update Question
I tried to update the BIOS of my Latitude E6510 (Win7/64bit/8GB RAM) from A05 to A16. It did not go. Then, tried updating from A05 to A09, it did not go either. Is there a way to go from A05 to A16? Please help? Thanks.

Unable to get Dell XPS13 laptop to discover a new Logitech K810 Bluetooth keyboard
I just bought a wireless keyboard but can't get my XPS13 to discover it for pairing. My OS is Windows 7
I have found Bluetooth Radio in Control Panel, and have also set Bluetooth settings to enable it to discover devices so it appears my laptop should be enabled / ready to pair
My iPad is able to discover the keyboard so I know the keyboard is fine. Do you have any suggestions?
