Ok, I have a problem. I tried Windows 10 on my Alienware M17X R4, but it didn't work as intented. So I went back to Win7. But now I get bluescreen everytime I start a game. I have reinstalled my video card drivers and chipset drivers but those didnt help. So I decided to put it back into factory settings.

But now when I boot and press F8 it just say that I need to put Windows disc into drive because there are no media. I have done the factory reset few times, but now it has been deleted some how. Is it the Windows 10 or then something happened when my laptop was in repairs due motherboard failure. But anyway, how do I get my factory settings now? As I don't have Windows 7 on DVD? Or when there's going to be supported drivers for Windows 10 on Alienware M17XR4?

Hello all,

Will it be possible to create an iso of Bootable backup using the dell backup and recovery tool.

I know that the Linux version will ask whether we need to save the iso for future use if needed at the end of the backup disk creation.

Just need to know that whether the same is possible with windows.

I am having issues with the Resolution on Java and Flash Applications.  Or any software program using Java or Flash.  In fact, when I go to the Java website and run a test, it also occurs.  I had a Java Expert troubleshoot the laptop and he could not find anything, indicating it was a resolution issues.  Several of the Dell tools built in to the laptop also have this resolution issue. 

What happens is the Java applications squeeze into a teeny tiny size - if looking at the Dell XPS 13 Screen, the Java windows would take up 2" by 2" in size on the screen - and the font would appear smaller than this.  Please see the image below:

As you can see the main page is normal - but the Flash based Game squeeze to the top corner. 

I contacted Dell support and they were unable to find a solution.

Any advice would be welcome at this point.  Many of the programs I use for work are Java based, and if I am unable to work on this laptop it's pretty much useless.

Hi, Every time I start my Laptop from hibernation with in some 5 min it hangs and after some i get the blue screen. I have updated the latest BIOS upgrade but still the issue is not resolved. I own a Dell Latitude E5450 with a 64bit Windows 7 Enterprice Edition service pack 1. i have tried installing all the driver upgrades avalaible on the website but still the issue is not resolved.

My lap top is running hot so I googled and found I should locate all needed driver updates. I entered my service tag # and it gave me quite a list. Aren't these updates installed with windows updates? I keep up on them so should i need to download any from my list? Or do I need to copy them all and check to see if they are installed?  Thanks in advance

I have a Dell XPS 12, purchased 2012, My region is Australia.

I was using my laptop last night when an air bubble appeared in the bottom left corner of the screen. The laptop has not been subjected to any 'trauma' or damage in its lifetime (it hasn't ever been dropped), so there's no external damage to the screen. It doesn't protrude from the surface of the screen. It's just an internal bubble that appeared. It doesn't disrupt the picture. The touch screen still functions in that area. It's about the size of the windows icon that it covers (less than an AUD 5c piece). 

The warranty has expired (Dec 2014) but I'd be keen to get it repaired.

I have a slightly different fan issue. Ordered mine as soon as I could, probably received it late march/early april. Anyways, my fan is making a groaning bearing noise. Thought that the fan would have lasted more than a few months in this thing (i7-5500, QHD+, 256GB SSD) Anyone else having this issue?

I just received a Dell Inspiron 5555 that I ordered from QVC.  After letting it finish the setup I let it go ahead and do the upgrade to Windows 10 that it wanted to do.  I want to turn off the tap-to-click option for the touchpad, but the touchpad doesn't show in the mouse properties from the control panel nor does it show in device manager.  I followed the link at the top of this forum section to go to the Windows 10 discussions.  From there, I tried 3 different Windows 10 touchpad drivers - Alps (aborted), something that started with a "C", and Synaptic.  None of these made any difference.

I can't tell you how much my big hands cause problems when tap-to-click is turned on and I really need a way to turn it off.  I don't even have a way to know which touchpad is in my system.

Any help with this would be so greatly appreciated!

I downloaded the free (not anymore) Windows 10 and it messed up and deleted one of my files. I tried to do a recovery back to Windows 8.1 using Dell backup and recovery. That compromised more files and so I tried to do a factory reset. Now my computer only turns off and on and only displays the Dell logo. Plus, the backup discs that my computer told me to make, right after purchase of laptop, doesn't even work. What can be done? How do I get my laptop working again? HELP!!!!!

My computer has been having several issues that peaked in bricking few days ago -First of all, the keyboard randomly doesn't work in several sections (like the number row or the lowest row), this was around half a year ago -After I upgraded to Windows 10, the speakers stopped working out of the blue, but plugging a headphone jack still worked, also the fan started being too noisy, even if I wasn't really using a lot of physical memory -Then, after restarting, everything went too slow, to the point of not even opening anything -After restarting few many times, it gave the "Unmountable_boot_volume" error, I can't even access to the boot menu because of my keyboard problems What should I do? Is my laptop still saveable?

After upgrade to window 10 i wish to recovery to back to window 8 oem. Dell backup and recovery fail to function. I planned to use the rescue usb that i created when i bought at 2013. The error occur and I unable to boot into desktop anymore

I was attempting to do a Factory Image Restore and I got an error dialog.  no message just the word error.  attempted to Repair and not happening. Computer will no longer boot into Windows.

The 1721 has a recovery partition and came with no Windows Vista CD / DVD.  The recovery partition was the method I was using to do the restore that gave me the error.  can I download a Dell recovery Disk.  if not what next

i have a dell E6430 with a finger print reader listed in the system configuration. the device manager shows this message for Control Vault fingerprint swipe sensor "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"

tried updating driver but windows states best driver installed, what next?

ever since I have updated the bios from a06 to a08 my laptop behave unexpectedly as when I shut it down and after few time or hour when I hit the power button laptop show no response , it don't start. I have to remove the battery and put the battery in now when I press laptop power button it starts ..... what to do ? and it is not allowing me to downgrade either

Hello!

I recently purchased a 3148 and upgraded it to Windows 10.  I have solved the common problem of the trackpad not disabling, and everything is running great.  I only have 1 minor issue:

When I flip the screen back into tablet mode I have to manually tell windows 10 its in tablet mode.  My trackpad and keyboard turn off, but the UI doesn't change.  Is this working as intended or is there something I can do?

Hi there,

I have an Inspiron 7520 and have recently upgraded to Windows 10. It was perfectly fine for 1or 2 days before I upgraded my Nvidia drivers.

After installation new Nvidia drivers(downloaded from official website) on the first reboot  system stuck on stage (black screen without any processes) after booting bios.

I managed using prompt command copy all important files on my external hard drive, so I was not aware of data loss.

Meanwhile, I tried all options to fix it using suggested bios repairing tools.

Unfortunately, non of them solved the problem(refreshes, reinstalls non of them). The only one "Change start up settings" gave me at least access to my system ( "Safety mode with prompt command"). After I uninstall drivers for nvidia and on 5th reboot i was able to operate laptop without any major issues (it was really slow).

Finally, after all, I decided to refresh Windows and delete all apps, personal files setting basically everything what took me an hour approximately. On the stage where refreshing went to restart, a blue screen appear and now keep showing every time I'm switching on computer.

I can't start bios setup settings or boot setting by pressing F12 or F2. it's starts again and again showing me blue screen. So I have no clue what i can doe without even access to bios or prompt command.

In addition, bios start beeping 5 times when computer is warm.

Does anybody have a clue what could the reason?
