I have a Inspiron N7110 with a Gen2 i5 processor, the video chip went on it so I replaced the processor, now if I close the lid or if I shut the laptop down it takes a while for it to boot back up, it will either just go to a black screen and not go to the BIOS screen or it will go to the BIOS screen (dell logo) but will not load and no buttons will respond ie: can't boot in safe mode, f2, f8 & f12 won't work. I do need a new battery and ordered a new one. I have tried to get all the static power out and then tried booting it with no battery, did the hold the power button down with no battery and then plugged in the AC to run the hardware test and that wouldn't work until I removed the optical drive, once I ran that everything comes back normal no errors. I go to reboot from the test and back to a black screen or hangs up on the BIOS, then I tried to boot it without the optical drive and it booted up fine. What could this be? I just replaced the hard drive last month then the processor went and I replaced that, once the computer boots up it runs fine and I have no issues, it's fast and very responsive, I just can't let it shut off or go into sleep mode. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
Dell Inspiron N7110 (early 2011) won't boot
my laptop power button wont turn on my laptop
hi, i have a dell vostro 2520 for almost 3 years now, i woke up today and my laptop wont turn on.
i recently opened my laptop and did the usual "dusting" (i live in a country with dusty winds so i clean it 3-4 times a year) i have done eveything like i always do but this time i removed the coin battery and put it back, that was the only different thing i did from what i usually do, after i finished cleaning the power button wouldnt turn on the laptop, but 2 mimutes later it worked somehow.
yeterday i turned it off, and today i couldnt turn it back on, i tried removing residual power by removing battery and cable, then pressing the power button for 30~ seconds then plugging the cable back in then trying to turn it on after a minute or two.
i also opened it up to make sure all the cables are connected, and checked the pins on the power button cable to make sure they aren't damaged, everything looks fine but still the same result.
i have no idea as how to fix it,
thanks in advance!
BATTERY dead after Failed Nvidia Graphics update
Battery is shown as not detected. eSPA error code 2000-0131 + validation 94350
MSG: Battery - the battery is not installed.
Battery was working perfectly prior to recovering my OS after a failed graphics update.
Question is, can a battery get damaged during a recovery or a diagnostic process?
Supposing my battery works on another unit, will this mean that my Inspiron 7737 battery "reader" is fried?
Any solution to reset the "reader". Tried a recovery which fixed a no audio issue but battery is still not detected. Thx
fan loud and overheating
the fan has dust blocking the vents you must open the laptop and clean the dust off of the heatsink, also by the speakers this will cool the laptop down and your problem will go away.
Inspiron 1564 hard drive size limit
Hello, I'm about to replace the original HD for my Inspiron 1564 and I wonder if there's a capacity limit. Dell suggests to check for it inside the manuals, but I've found nothing so far. I would like to install a 750GB HD, replacing the current WD 500GB.
at this link, a Dell employee answers Inspiron 15 (1564) limit is 500GB:
http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19458082
but in the Dell shop, they're selling a 750GB one, and Inspiron 15 (1564) is among the supported ones:
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=bsd&cs=04&sku=342-4065&mfgpid=205146
Can somebody clarify this please? :)

DELL INSPIRON 15R 5521 charging problem
Hi,
I have been facing few problems with my dell battery. I purchased my laptop in 2013 and then my battery became faulty and hence i had to buy a new one in sept 2014 again.
Now coming to the problem :
The battery of INSPIRON N5521 is not charging after a level. earlier it stopped charging at 64% and then showed ( plugged in, not charging) but a few days after that the level has dropped to 40% and now its shows( plugged in, not charging) at 40%.
I updated my BIOS to a12. ( was a12 before) but nothing happened. now when i checked with my friend's lappy to eliminate between motherboard issue/battery issue i put in my battery in my friend's lappy and his battery in mine. I could charge his battery above 64% and a peculiar thing noticed by my friend while charging the battery was that the battery jumped from 40% to 100% in 3mins or so. now when i try to discharge the battery it discharges at a very quick pace. so i feel that there is problem with the battery but i bought it 9-10 months back only so why is there is a problem so quick..
PLEASE HELP
Inspiron 3521 Hard Disk failure
cannot get Dell Inspiron 1525 back together without it saying no touch pad
I took my grandson's Inspiron 1525 apart thinking that the problem with it might be the dc jack but of course once I got in there I saw you can't replace those jacks. So I was putting the computer back together and I ran into the problem that the touch pad is not connected, I have tried everything I know how to do with this thing, the touch pad wasn"t even touched. I have taken it apart many times and tried to get it to start up right but it still has this message. Please if anyone can help I would appreciate it.
Thanks Debbie
Dell XPS 13 - poor battery life
I have a Brand New Dell XPS 13, i7 - 8GB RAM - QHD touch model and the battery life is unacceptable. I believe this model has an advertised battery life of 11 hours, but I am lucky to get more than 3 and a half hours doing very minimal work. I have Disabled all background apps, even disabled the touch screen and never go above 2 brightness levels, am set to power saving mode AND Windows 10's new power saver feature and nothing. I get 4 hours max if I am lucky. Do I have a defective battery or is this normal?
cannot get one of the wireless cables snapped back into the wireless card

Should I remove the following Intel software ?
I've found that the following software from Intel affect my laptop:
- Intel(R) Security Assist
- Intel(R) Smart Connect Technology Agent
My laptop cannot start up normally when the above services is set to on. In order words, the laptop do not have any response when I press the power button, so in order to start up my laptop, I have to press the power button for 4 seconds to perform a force shut down, and if I disable these 2 services then every thing will back to normal, but they will enable automatically every time when I start up my laptop...which is quite annoying to me.
So can I remove them ? and will it causing any problem if I do that ? what they actually do ?
Thank you.
Preparing Automatic Repair
My Vostro 3446 got stuck in Automatic Repair loop and when I ran the ePSA Pre-boot System Assessment it threw Error 2000:0151.
As per my understanding the hard disk has crashed. Could anybody confirm this and help me resolve the issue.
The laptop was bought in 27th July 2014, so its just a year and 2 weeks! Would I get support from DELL as the warranty got over just 2 weeks back.
Thanks,
Arnab

RAM upgrade for Studio 1749
Hi,
I have a 2010 Studio 1749. It came with 4GB RAM (2 x 2GB PC3-8500S). I'm thinking this equates to 1033MHz?
I'm almost constantly operating at 90%+ RAM capacity so hoping an upgrade to 8GB (max for Win7 Pro I believe) will help a bit.
Having dug about for an idea of what I can install I have found two conflicting pieces of advice, both from Dell people on the forum I believe.
One says Studio 1749 can only run with 1066 and 1033 MHz speeds RAM
http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19529847
and one says the system supports DDR3 1066/1333 MHz SODIMMs
http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19640823
Googled 1749 RAM and this result comes up regularly.
This is 1333MHz I think? Due to the conflicting info mentioned above can anyone advise if this is compatible with my Dell Studio 1749 (i5 M540). I'm thinking so. And can anyone also advise is this is about the best I can put in spec wise?
thanks
Jon
dell battery
A few months ago i spilled water on my laptop due to which it got short circuited. I gave to dell showroom. They repaired it. But I found that my battery is not charging although the AC adapter is working. I inserted my battery in another laptop and the battery was charged. I checked the system setup and it says that it is a non dell battery. I am not able to understand how did it happen since this is the battery which I was using from the start. Moreover in the battery health meter, it displays that charging is disabled and I cannot find any option to enable it. I have been to many repair shops and when I explain the matter they just say that leave the laptop for 6 days and we will replace your motherboard without even taking a look at the laptop. I cannot trust these suggestions.
Please tell me what to do.
