Wireless Issue - E7450

$

I have two E7450s that we just purchased and reformatted (we install the enterprise version of windows).

Windows 8.1 Ent OS with drivers from the Dell 7450 win 8 driver cab, works great.  We have a Group Policy applied wireless network configuration with WPA2 authentication against our radius server.

The problem is that for my Windows 7 sp1 Ent OS installation using the Dell 7450 Win 7 driver cab, everything installs and appears to work, but I can't connect to my wireless network.  I don't get a prompt for credentials (It should use the domain credentials of the user, but if they fail, there is normally a pop-up request for credentials).  I just get an error stating that windows cannot connect.    The same Group Policy has been applied.  I don't have any other computers that have this issue.  I have tried uninstalling rebooting and reinstalling most if not all of the Intel network drivers with no success.   Note, i can see my SSID, and for an open network ssid with a straight WEP key, I can connect (we have a network for our consultants).  I can't figure out why this one brand spankin new laptop will not connect.   It looks like my radius server is seeing and approving the credentials

the System event log shows NETwNs64 Event ID 5060.  I don't see any other error.

Inspiron 1564 won't boot

Hi, yesterday a tried to start this laptop and it didn't start. Because it was not me the last who was using it, I dont know if it was too much warm or if it swithed off suddenly...my father doesn't remember...xD

Symptoms:

The laptop turns on by AC or battery and: Screen remains black.Fan start running as normaly. HDD starts spinning at the first moment but then it stop (so it doesnt load the OS). Power, hdd and battery leds work as they should. DVD and usb have power too.

Removing only one RAM stick keeps the system as described above. When both slots are free the mobo make 2 beeps, so it matches the beep code for RAM not detected...

Beeing on, pushing the power button turns the laptop off inmediatly.

Would the problem be that both RAM sticks got bad? I've been thinking about trying with the stick of another laptop but Im scare about breaking the new one too...

Thank for your reply

Stripped Antenna Wire?

I was trying to replace the screen of my Latitude E5500 and everything went smoothly except that stripped the black shielding of the antenna wires a bit, something like half an inch. The wires and their actual shielding are fine, though.

Is this a problem? Will the antenna short and die on me eventually? Should I put some electric tape around it?

Consumer In-Home Hardware Service After Remote Diagnosis Warranty

Purchased a Inspiron 13 7000 Series on May 22, 2015 for my business. A few days ago I turned it on and there was a loud pop and it smelt like plastic burning and wouldn't power on no matter what I tried. I called tech support who said it needed a new motherboard. I have a Consumer In-Home Hardware Service After Remote Diagnosis warranty. So they sent tech out to fix.

Tech calls and said that usually there is more damage to system then just motherboard and that if I can smell something burning it has become hazardous and should be replaced. So I told him that they said I could send to depot to fix but could take 14 business days. I informed him I need for business and travel a lot and cant go that long without system. He said that since it only 34 days you can use 12. Customer Replaceable Units and Whole Unit Replacement or 14, Advanced Exchange that comes with the Consumer In-Home Hardware Service After Remote Diagnosis Warranty that you have with your system.

So I called to ask about this and was told first you can only get a replacement if it is 30 days or less so I asked them to show me were it says that on this warranty. He couldn't then he said that were is says replaced as a whole unit meant a part under number 12 of warranty even though it says if the telephone technician determines that the Product is one that should be replaced as a whole unit, a whole replacement unit with a prepaid return mailing label for the defective return may be sent directly to you.

Then I asked about what does replacement part or product (“Replacement Item”) mean under number 14 of warranty. I was told that is for tablets, monitors, projectors and that product (“Replacement Item”) meant a part. I asked were does it say tablets monitors ect.. He said that is just a generalized warranty and doesn't list items. I figured warranties were legal documents.

I have Included a copy of my warranty and hope someone can tell me what number 12 and 14 mean on it.

The system today is not starting. Battery is fully charged. Powers on ok. Has original Dell Power supply, no issues with it charging.

Tried F2, F12, Power+FN, nothing happens.

No beeps.

Will not allow any pre-boot, onboard commands.

When you press F2 several times on power up, it lights up as though it will start to work but nothing happens after 10 minutes sitting at the screen.

No blue bar.

Power LED shows white, no other lights shown.

Have attempted reset with paper clip under RAM access.  Have reseated all ram chips.

Please advise.

Microphonics?

This could just as easily be in the audio section, but here goes!  I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 with a problem---if I set the microphone slider mixer control to max, I get an awful howl in the speaker.  If I reduce the intensity, it reduces and eventually stops.  I believe this is a form of feedback as if there was a microphone was live---I was wondering if this laptop has such a microphone inside the laptop? Or,perhaps it is a problem with the external microphone jack on the front of the laptop?  Any ideas, help or solutions?   thanks as usual

WME22-0QJ memory error code with SupportAssist scan

Just performed a system check scan with Support Assist. The memory portion of the test failed, generating a WME220QJ code for the Advanced Pattern test.

The error message read, "The pattern written (FEFEFEFEFEFEFEFE) did not match the pattern read (FEFEFEFEFEFEEEFE) at the physical address (00000006CF549460). The pattern difference was: 0000000000001000."

After rebooting the computer I ran the memory test separately, and the test passed.

I have a Dell Precision M4700 (mid 2012) with an Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3840QM CPU with 32 GB of RAM, 250 GB SSD and 750 GB HDD, Windows 7 Professional (64-bit).

Any ideas why the memory test fails on the system scan?

Dell Inspiron N5110 powering on but not booting up after motherboard change.

I recently changed the motherboard on my N5110 as it wasn't booting up at all and was completely unresponsive. Since I substituted the old motherboard for the new one, it is now powering on but remains on a blank screen and only powers on when plugged into the charger. Also, the laptop beeps three times when powering on which seems to indicate a problem with the motherboard/system board even though it has just been replaced.

Does anyone have any fix to this? Many thanks.

Would a change of hard disk drive result in termination of warranty?

$

I want to change a hard disk drive to my laptop Latitude E5550.

I don't see any seals on screws of bottom cover,  though IDK this for sure.

I've been given an advise to check whether if  I change a hard drive by myself, marks on screws would identify that i have opened a cover by myself, and this would result in termination of warranty.

  1. Should i request a Dell technical support assistance for changing a hard disk, and what are exact procedures of doing this? If yes, would it require additional charges?
  2. May i do this by myself (being implied that i have the necessary qualification)? If yes, what should i do to assure that warranty is intact?

Inspiron 15R (N5110, Early 2011) not turning on, charger light goes off when plugged in

Hi,

My Dell Inspiron 15R is not turning on. When I plug-in the charger, charger green light is going off. I tried with/without battery, holding power button for 60 sec. but still not starting.

Looks like the motherboard is fried. How do I confirm that the motherboard is dead? Or Is it CPU failure?

What's the price of new motherboard? Please provide a link to purchase motherboard.

Thanks.

Dell laptop continuous beeping

Hi,

When I power up my Dell laptop the fan starts but it has a black screen and continuously beeps every second. There doesn't seem to be a code in it because it's just goes on forever.

I've tried changing the Ram and that doesn't work and I have also tried taking the battery out and unplugging it and pressing the power key for 30 seconds. Neither of these things have worked. It does randomly boot up sometimes but there doesn't seem to be a reason why it starts somtimes but most of the time refuses to turn on.

Inspiron 15R (N5110) Touch Pad Driver Freezes Computer

$

Hi,

I just reinstalled the operating system (Windows 7) as recommended by technical support. I had been having a problem with my touch pad and they said it was a software issue. The touch pad does not have full functionality. The right click will not work and I have to use a mouse, which is not always convenient. I have the install disk for the drivers and have tried installing the touch pad driver, R305170.exe. After installing the driver,  my laptop freezes and makes the touch pad totally unusable. I then have to restore to before the driver was installed.

There is not a driver even listed for the touch pad. The driver is listed in the Device Manager under Mouse as PS/2. It seems the driver on the Dell site and on the disk is corrupting the computer. Could it be clashing with PS/2 driver?

Any suggestions on how to fix this issue would be great.

Thank you.

INSPIRON SLEEP BUTTON & USER MANUAL

Can anyone clarify two queries for me please?

Where is this mysterious SLEEP button that is referred to on the Inspiron's Control Panel/Power Settings page

Where do I find an online User Manual for the Inspiron i7

Dell's help pages are hopeless and Googling turned up nothing about either query

Thanks

Studio 1747 - add SSD as 2nd drive

$

It gets confusing looking at the manual and then reading here so forgive me if this should be obvious.

I have a 1TB SATA III SSD that I want to add as a second drive to the subject laptop.  As I understand it, the drive interface is pin-compatible with the SATA II controller for the (now empty) second bay.  Do I really need a "caddy and interposer" in order to install this SSD?

Again, sorry if this is obvious, but it certainly hasn't been to my (admittedly feebler-by-the-day) mind.  Thanks!
