I purchased a Dell Inspiron 3521 nearly a year ago. Few weeks back, my touch screen stopped responding. I, having some basic knowledge in computers, tried everything that i could to make it work again, but sadly, haven't been able to kill an ant in the matter.

My System Specifications are:

Model No: Dell Inspiron 15 - 3521 - Touch

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3337U CPU @1.8Ghz

RAM: 4GB

Operating System: Windows 8.1 64-bit

Video Cards: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 & AMD Radeon HD 8730M

Things I've tried already:

1. Refreshing PC back to Windows 8.

2. Updating all drivers and Windows Updates.

3. Updating to Windows 8.1 again.

4. All windows updates again.

5. Rechecked if any driver update was missing today.(No there is no driver updates for me currently)

Additional Details:

1. There is no Tablet PC settings in Control Panel since i refreshed. (Didn't check if it was before, but it sure would have been there.)

2. There is no Tablet PC Components or any similar thing in add features to windows.

3. There is no Touch Screen compliant device in HID or Mice or other Pointing Device in the  device manager.

4. I have the Intel HM77 driver and the latest BIOS running as suggested by the experts on other threads.

If anyone has any other ideas, please help.

Hello,

I used to work a dell latitude e6420 and since I had to enter numbers and text in excel sheet I found particularly uncomfortable the fact that there was a status LED to indicate that the num lock is inserted or not. I do not know if it is a question of specific laptop but I felt that there is not just a status LED. I wonder why. Is there an alternative solution through driver / software that displays the status screen buttons num lock?

I bought the combo a year back but now everything seems to be fine except for the mouse click. The Left-click of the mouse is not working although scroll, right-click is working fine. Plus the LED on the mouse keeps on blinking RED... and not Green. There's no info for the RED color on the manual... Changing batteries has been tried already.

PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi,
I have bought Inspiron 5547 with touch screen and 16 GB RAM two days ago. 
Now, i have problem with battery life. When I use battery only for surfing with minimum brightness and power saving options on windows, battery last only about 2 hours.
Do you know, what is problem with it?

Purchased a Inspiron 13 7000 Series on May 22, 2015 for my business. A few days ago I turned it on and there was a loud pop and it smelt like plastic burning and wouldn't power on no matter what I tried. I called tech support who said it needed a new motherboard. I have a Consumer In-Home Hardware Service After Remote Diagnosis warranty. So they sent tech out to fix.

Tech calls and said that usually there is more damage to system then just motherboard and that if I can smell something burning it has become hazardous and should be replaced. So I told him that they said I could send to depot to fix but could take 14 business days. I informed him I need for business and travel a lot and cant go that long without system. He said that since it only 34 days you can use 12. Customer Replaceable Units and Whole Unit Replacement or 14, Advanced Exchange that comes with the Consumer In-Home Hardware Service After Remote Diagnosis Warranty that you have with your system.

So I called to ask about this and was told first you can only get a replacement if it is 30 days or less so I asked them to show me were it says that on this warranty. He couldn't then he said that were is says replaced as a whole unit meant a part under number 12 of warranty even though it says if the telephone technician determines that the Product is one that should be replaced as a whole unit, a whole replacement unit with a prepaid return mailing label for the defective return may be sent directly to you.

Then I asked about what does replacement part or product (“Replacement Item”) mean under number 14 of warranty. I was told that is for tablets, monitors, projectors and that product (“Replacement Item”) meant a part. I asked were does it say tablets monitors ect.. He said that is just a generalized warranty and doesn't list items. I figured warranties were legal documents.

I have Included a copy of my warranty and hope someone can tell me what number 12 and 14 mean on it.

Hey guys,

 

    So, yesterday I've tried use my laptop (Dell Inspiron 3421) and in the boot screen appeared a message under the 'progress bar' a message telling that it was starting the recovery mode, so after this the computer just show a black screen again but only with the mouse cursor ( that I can move), what could be happening? 

 

detail: I've searched in the web some stuff to do like press Ctrl + alt + del or even press F8 at boot ... and nothing really works

Here's the set up: 
Two computers attached to a local router netowrk: a new Dell Laptop (Windows 7) and an older Dell desktop (Vista). The printer (also Dell) is connected through the desktop. With the proper driver installed, the laptop can "see" the printer (not wireless) and is set as default printer.

Whenever I attempt to print something from the laptop I get a "Error - Printing" message. Spent an hour on the phone with Dell, literally talked to 10 people and, well, to be polite, I got no help, just bounced around the globe. 

Any thoughts would be GREATLY appreciated.

Hi All,

Is there a way to increase Usable RAM by windows 7 from 2.49 GB to 4 GB or at aleast 3 GB

My Laptop Model : Dell studo 1558

Windows edition.: Windows 7 Ultimate  Sp1

System Type : 32 bit operating system

Processor: Intel core i5 CPU M520 @2.40GHz  2.40 Ghz

Installed RAM: 4GB (2.49 GB usable)

How can chnage this 2.49 GB usable RAM to 4GB or 3.x GB?

Hello everyone

I have reinstalled windows on my dell inspiron 3537, but now i am unable to download drivers.

I should have downloaded them before installing the window, now the internet, wifi or lan down dont   work on my system which is understandable as there are no drivers to support. so which means that i can not download them, i tried downloading them on my sisters sony vio, well here the dell's driver software doesnt work so i have install the manually, i tried to download certain files but they are taking forever to download even, so in past 3 hours i cant even download a single setup.

so please guide me how i can do it?

i have no idea, and i dont have the drivers cd either. windows 7 64 bit

I have a N5110 laptop that keeps restarting, but only in battery mode. If I shut down the laptop while connected to the mains it shuts down normally and will not restart. However, as soon as I disconnect the power adapter, or simply turn off power at the main, the laptop will restart to the repair menu within 10 seconds. Similarly, if I am working in battery only mode and then shut down it will shut down normally without errors but will restart again within 10 seconds to the repair menu. I have run all the on board Dell diagnostics and online diagnostics but no errors are displayed. Any suggestions??

Hello everybody, I'm in serious trouble, after my brother gave me his laptop, I decided to reinstall windows and do a clean format, so I made a bootable usb drive with win 7 and proceeded to install.

When I came to partitions, I deleted them and tried to created a new one, then I got the error (you can't install windows on this partition style GPT) or something like this.

So I turned off the laptop and went to google looking for info, then when I turned it on, the screen remained black, then a DELL logo showed up for a while, then it turned black again.

Please help me :'( this is a 1000$ laptop :'(

I've recently got an Sandisk Extreme Pro SSD (480G) to upgrade my E6430 laptop.

The weird thing I met is, I can not boot from the SSD. Beside that, it works smoothly. While insert a Win7 DVD in disc drive, laptop could boot from DVD and load OS from SSD. Or while install another bootable hard drive using a disc bay adapter, it can boot from disc bay through windows boot manager to load OS from SSD. If only this SSD attached to the laptop, it does not boot.

I don't think the SSD itself have problem, because when I connect it separately to my Mac Pro, it can install and boot Win10 / Mac OS successfully.

I've already tried to upgrade BIOS to A16 and also upgraded latest FW for the SSD. I've also tried to select different BIOS options. Nothing works.

For OS I had tried including Win7 / Win10 / Ubuntu to the SSD, all does not boot.

Just bought a new E-Port replicator (XX6F0) that doesn't seem to output video on the DisplayPort connector.

I'm using an E6420 on the replicator, a Dell P2210 monitor for DisplayPort or DVI and a Dell 1800FP monitor for VGA or DVI.

Here's the results of various configurations...

1. E6420 monitor output - OK
2. E-Port replicator VGA output - OK
3. E-Port replicator DVI output - OK
4. E-port replicator DVI & VGA output simultaneously - OK
5. E-port replicator DisplayPort output - NO Video output to external display
6. E-port replicator DisplayPort output & VGA output - VGA OK, NO Video output to DisplayPort monitor
7. E-port replicator DisplayPort output & DVI output - DVI OK, NO Video output to DisplayPort monitor

Is the E6420 / XX6F0 replicator configuration capable of driving the DisplayPort output?

Is there anywhere I need to configure the output (other than the NVIDIA or Display control panels?  The monitor connected to the DisplayPort output doesn't show up in either.

I wanted to check before I return the replicator as faulty.

My Laptop model DELL XPS 15(L502X) issue with startup repair.

The startup repair tried to repair and it says registry corrupted and it gets restarted when I close the error window. Its going on infinite loop and looks like a common issue.

It doesn't let me login to safe mode or safe mode with command prompt or last good configuration and tried all possible scenarios to repair registry. I have factory image but I don't see "SYSTEM IMAGE REcovery OPTION "  in recovery and its missing.

Please suggest how to troubleshoot.
