XPS 13 - 2015 Infinity Display - Bios Key
Hi, could someone please let me know how to access the bios on my laptop. When the DELL logo comes up I have tried literally every key including F2 (even pressing the FN key too in case it was registering the function rather than the F keys) however nothing works.
My audio has broken and I'm trying to disable and re-enable form the BIOS.

Studio 1555 (2009) Software Upgrade
I'm hoping someone can give me some advice as I am more an end user than software/hardware person when it comes to computers. I have the old Studio 1555 laptop which I LOVE but it is in desperate need of a software upgrade as it still runs Windows Vista. I went to a computer store and was advised that the machine is still powerful enough to run WIndows 8 but it depends on whether Dell has the drivers to run it?? Not 100% sure what this means..... Basically, if I upgrade to Windows 8 will my laptop still work or should I be looking to buy a new one??

unable to update to 8 to 8.1
hi guys myself kiran with lap dell 5521 touch model recently i formated the lap and later i gt update to 8.1 so when iam clicking 8.1 update frm store its cming like you need to use an account with admin privillages to install 8.1 , try logging with the user account of an admin of pc .
pls help how to update to 8.1

Old laptop - Reinstalling Windows 7 from iso image/action pack disk
Hi Dell community,
Not sure if this should be in Windows or Dell forum, but here's the situation.
I have an old Dell laptop (about 5 years old) and I plan to give it to a family member to use. However, this laptop currently runs ridiculously slowly so I want to wipe it and give it clean.
I've spent around 20+ hours trying to find a way to do this through system recovery, but it just doesn't work (no options to set to factory, no Dell stuff installed when I go to recovery page by holding F8 I think it was), so I've decided it would make more sense to just reinstall Windows 7, and reformat the HDD during the install.
The problem here is that the laptop came with no Windows 7 install disk, and I never actually made a vanilla backup (massive oversight and ignorance on my part).
So to my question. If I reinstall using an iso image or an action back install disk, would that work? Would it prompt me for a license key I don't have? Can I retrieve my license key from the current install?
Unsure how to proceed to be honest, any help would be amazing.

Extended battery life and Intelligent display driver download locations
I had both
'Extended battery life' and
'Intelligent display'
softwares when I bought my laptop.
But after windows restore I couldn't find the application setups to install again.

Intel HD Graphics Does Not Recognize Multiple Displays
Hello,
While in the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel > Display > Select Display. The other two external monitors are not recognized. My only choice for color adjustment is with the Built-in Display option.
The two external monitors are recognized in the NVIDIA Control Panel, but oddly, NVIDIA only has 3D-Settings available, no other color/resolution adjustments are available.

need to know which drivers to install after a reformat
hi. I need to reformat my computer. i have a dell precision m6400 8gb ram, 700 gb hard drive, windows 7. the name of my wifi driver is intel(R) wifi link 5100 AGN
I need to know which drivers to install and in what order from this page: dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/precision-m6400/drivers
obviously i need video driver, wireless, Ethernet controller, audio. but there are many to choose from in the same category.
should i note the name of the drivers i have installed now and reinstall the same ones? or different.
i don't need all the fancy stuff. enough to run my computer. as i only use my computer to surf the web and look at videos.
there are many drivers in the same category. which ones do i choose?
can anyone tell me what drivers i need and what order to install them.

1 1/2 year old Alienware can't even boot
Hello, my Alienware 14 laptop recently had an infinite startup repair loop, no matter what I did it did not work so I decided to pop in my windows 7 installation disk, change the boot order in bios to start my installion disk and then I started installing windows 7, but it encountered a installation error, so I researched it and did the following in cmd ( remember I still can't get on pc )
Diskpart
Select disk 0
Clean. - yeah I know this like removes everything
Create partition primary
Select partition 1
Format fs=ntfs label="Windows 7#
I stopped their since the format did not work, and my installation error still persisted
I have a feeling the hard drive is broken or something , anyways my warranty is expired and The service tag fell off my laptop and is lost and I don't wanna spend any money to fix this, please help :(

Can't disable the touchpad (Vostro 5470)
I can't disable the touchpad clicking Fn + Esc.Icon on system tray also disappeared.
Downloaded and installed the driver again but it did not help (Input_Driver_70X31_WN_11.3.15.4_A03).
All other Fn keys are working (like airplane mode, sleep, brightness, etc.).
When I go to Control Panel > Mouse and click the link, device crash error appear. I uninstalled the driver and now this option has also gone from mouse.
After all, the touchpad is working but I can't disable it.

Dell Inspiron 5521 Intel SpeedStep problem
Hi,
i have problem with cpu frequency when Intel SpeedStep is disabled on this laptop, cpu frequency get locked to ~799MHz(min freq.). CPU is Intel Core i7-3537U. Is there any way to set it to normal speed 2 -2.5 GHz? Thanks

im newbie when it comes to bios updates
hi , recently my dell 3521 i5 ( 3rd gene) motherboard got damaged and i got it replaced with 4th gene one but i dont recall seeing dell 3521 having 4th gene instead i found exactly on the same specifications.pdf file that dell 3537 looks same as my laptop with only diff having 4th gene motherboard with diff processor and gpu ofc
now my question here how can i make sure that my lap is same as 3537 so i can update the bios ?
i registered my service tag but site shows the old model (3521) specifications when it comes to downloads also when i had to pick model number there was 4 dell models to pick from ( 5537/3537/5737/3737) // i picked 3537 on a whim :v so can anyone explain and help me about this ? sorry for the trouble and thanks in advance

Inspiron 7737 overheating problem
Hi.
I'am experiencing some problem with 7737 cooling system. When playing games CPU temperature rises up to 90+ degrees!
After that CPU starts throttling to 0.7 GHz and that won't actually help, but causes low fps. As seen from AIDA64 report fan goes to 4630 rpm and for some reason refuses to speed up after that point.
BIOS version is A12, the most recent one.

Dell Inspiron 15 -7000 7537 Will Not Start
My Dell Inspiron 15 - 7000 7537 will not start. I have tried several steps based on what I have read on this forum and have not been able to resolve the problem. I have removed the battery to drain the flea or static charge. I tried starting it with and without the battery. The light is illuminated on the power cord at the end where it plugs into the computer. Neither the battery or charging light illuminate on the front of the laptop light up when plugged in or not. When i press the start button there is no flicker or anything. The computer had a good charge and was plugged in over night and the next morning the problems occurred. Please help.

Upgrading RAM on Inspiron 1545 causes wireless to be unable to connect
I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop running Windows 7 64-bit. It had 3 GB of RAM, and then I upgraded it to 8 GB of RAM.
After the upgrade, the computer booted up and Task Manager showed that it was using 8 GB of RAM, but the wireless icon in the system tray indicated that it couldn't connect. I tried the Windows wireless troubleshooting feature, and it said that the wireless capability wasn't turned on. But there's no wireless on/off switch on this laptop. I tried restarting Windows and the wireless still couldn't connect. Also, the Task Manager showed a svchost.exe process taking up over 50% of the CPU and over 1 GB of RAM - I'm not sure what that was about.
So then I removed the 8 GB of RAM and put the old 3 GB back in. When Windows booted up, the wireless connected fine. That means I didn't accidentally disconnect any wires on the wireless adapter.
Any ideas why this laptop's wireless won't connect when it has 8 GB of RAM installed?
