I have a Dell D630 and for some reason it has been worrying me with how hot it is getting today. just a little over the normal scalding heat it gives off normally from the middle back of the bottom of it. i took the keyboard off of it a minute ago but it cooled off in the time it took for me to take it apart. now it is still giving off the same more than normal amount of heat and is kind of gurgling/ticking. worrying me even more now is it freezes on the bios revision a17 window as it boots. can anyone help me?

HDD error; unable to boot from USB (DELL Vostro A860)
Hello.
I have 2 issues with my laptop (again). I downloaded Windows XP Professional SP3 ISO image and burned it to a USB flash with a slot for micro SD card, because I wanted to revert to the XP. However, I'm unable to boot the image, due to "bootmanager" being missing. That's the first question - how to fix it? Is it included (or should be) in the Windows image, or it should be present on my HDD?
Afterwards, I ran the Pre-Boot Diagnostics Assesment (PDA). It shown me error 2000-0146, which failed the HDD test. I read about it on this forum. Since I can't run the 32bit Diagnostic tool, how can I find out what exactly this error means? And, mostly, do I have to change my HDD? Because I'm not having a good overall experience with that laptop and I'm not looking forward on spending any money on it.

I have a few of these and one I see has the TurboBoost software on it. Do I need to put this software on the computer for it to run more efficiently? I have the I5 and the I7 on them. Anyone?

Does Alienware 15 already come with temperature monitoring software?
I know alienware desktops have ambient temperature monitor in alienware command center. My 15 laptop does not have this option. Is this something I can download for my laptop? or do i have to rely on a third party software?

Trouble with Keeping Backlight on Keyboard Off
Hello everyone,
I have a Dell Inspiron 7548 which comes with a backlight keyboard (I bought it from a store so I couldn't opt out of the keyboard). I don't ever use the laptop in dark settings though so would like to keep the backlight on the keyboard off by default. I have already tried turning the light off on Windows Mobility Center and have also already installed Dell Quickset and updated my Bios (I think). After I turn the backlight off on my keyboard it will stay off as I work on the computer and if I restart it right away or boot it up after being in sleep mode for a short time for example.
If I keep the laptop off for some time,though, such as shut it down for the night or keep it in hibernation mode for a few hours, the light will turn back on the next time I boot up my computer. It is extremely annoying to have to turn the light off every time I boot up the computer when I haven't used the laptop for a while. How can I ensure that the backlight stays off by default for good? This seems like it should be a simple thing so I don't understand why this has turned into such a complicated process. Thanks!

E6530 - RAM 1x8G or 2x8G
Hello,
I've seen a post on E6520 max ram, but my configuration is different than that post.
I have a i5-3210M 2.50Ghz and 4Go, running on a 32 bits system. I want to max out my ram capacity.
Looking at the specs of my laptop, it says that i can only upgrade to 1x8Go or 2x8Go via the CFI service.
I don't really understand the CFI. But from what i understood, if i don't have that option, i can't upgrade to 16Go. Am i mistaking?
How to bypass it?

Dell Inspiron 7520 cpu upgrade
Hi all! I want to upgrade my actual cpu(i5 3210m) to a better.
It has hm77 chipset and g2 socket and theorically It should be upgradable to a powerful cpu as a core i7 3630qm for examples.
However actual cpu wattage is 35w instead of i7's(45w) besides I read that Bios should not recognize a New cpu..
Anyhow I read that exist a CPUs compatibility list for any laptop model,

This problem exists even outside OS. ie while trying to install OS.I have updated the drivers including bios setting in hope of getting the problem solved.I have also reinstalled the OS many time in hope but no use.Please help me to know whats the matter.

Real Life 2015 XPS 13 Battery Stats
I have a 2015 i5 FHD XPS 13. One of the main reasons I bought this unit (especially the FHD model) was because it boasted such great battery life. Is anyone having an issue? I have been doing some testing and with the screen at the lowest brightness I ran a movie on Netflix for 2 hours and the battery dropped from 100 to 60 which seems like 20% an hour so about 5 hours of video playback. Is this normal? Also, when I am just browsing around on the web that is supposed to net about 12 hours of battery. The battery meter constantly jumps back and forth between like 12 hours remaining and 4 hours remaining. Then 10 hours remaining and 3 hours remaining etc... I guess it does that based on how much the CPU is going while browsing? I haven't used the unit to empty yet, but it doesn't seem that it will get anywhere close to 12 hours of web browsing. This is with both units I have. Am I missing something?

Froze on BIOS update and a faulty keyboard?
Hello, I recently brought an Anlienware 15.
Some of the keys don't respond right away and need I to press them a few times. Which lead me to dells site and I checked for some software updates and it said my BIOS needed updating. So I thought fine, while I'm on here I will update my BIOS.
It has now been updating for 30 minutes and the fans are spinning like crazy.
So what do I do now? Manually shut it down? See if it will start up again, give it more time?

M3800 Wireless AC7260 Issue
Hi, I have a M3800 and I have an issue with the wireless network card AC7260. When connected with any wifi source, the ping will spike or time out every 13 seconds consistently.
I previously had this issue, which was fixed when I updated the driver from the Dell support website. I started having the same problem when in early June I downloaded and installed a new driver for the the card through Windows Update. I tried rolling back the driver but I am still having the same problem.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

Inspirion 1121 : SODIMM 4GB
Hello!
My Inspirion 1121 works fine with 2x2G RAM
i3 U330 processor supports 8G RAM (by Intel ARK)
But notebook reboots during booting Windows 7 if I install even one 4G sodimm. The "salt" is laptop turns on and begins booting. I've changed 3 different RAM modules - so a few chances they are all bad.
There is no BIOS updates to try this way.
Any suggestion? Anyone works with 8G RAM on 1121 ?
If Dell support read this forum: may be it is (un)official restriction and I have no chance ?
