Dell Vostro V13 new battery not recognized and not charging

$

Dear all,

I have exchanged the battery in my Dell Vostro V13. Ever since, the battery light is flashing amber. The new battery did supply the computer with power as long as it was charged. Now it is empty and clearly not charging up.

Windows says "battery is charging", but it shows the crossed out battery symbol.

In the bios battery testing menu, it was indicated that the battery was not recognized, but charging normally.

It is not an original Dell battery. The company that sold me the battery told me that probably my laptop detects this and blocks the battery.

Can I do anything to get the laptop to detect the battery?

If not, can I buy an original Dell battery somewhere?

Thanks

Eva

Round white spot on screen

I have an XPS 13 (L322X, Early 2013) which is still under warranty.

It is showing a round white spot on the screen which is like screen bleed you sometimes get at the edge of screens.

It's not dead pixels and not any damage to the cover of the laptop or the screen physically.

It's there all the time, tried with black, light, and coloured backgrounds and it's visible.

How do I go about getting support?

Does this sound like it needs a new screen?

Thanks

Intel® Core™ i7-5500U Processor in Alienware 13

Will these be up-gradable in the future to a quad core? This processor is more of a business grade, than a gaming processor. I replaced my old Alienware 17 I purchased years ago to the 13 hoping for increased/better gaming experience, however, I haven't seen an improvement. Games that require CPU power are not good at all. My old laptop was quad core with a I7-3740QM chip, but the nVidia card was older and slower, which is one of the reasons I upgraded. Now I am not so sure it was such a great idea.

If the processor in the Alienware 13 can be upgraded to a quad core in the future, then I am fine with it as it will help.

Thanks

Mike

Latitude 6410 not boot at all

Hello all

I have bought from my company a laptop, a Latitude E6410 model. This product is no longer in support, since 2013.

It used it for a long time, but since yesterday, I have a big problem: the machine is not booting at all !! eveng not going to the Dell screen !!

I already checked some papers on Dell community pages, and here is my status:

- I removed the battery, and just plugged the AC,

- I keep the 'FN' key pressed while powering on

- from the "service manual" for my laptop:

-> I see this error while booting with "FN" key pressed: "option rom error" -> the "num lock" and "Cap lock" leds are blinking.

I already tried to remove memory modules, to remove the cell battery, .... but no success.

What could I do before considering this laptop is completely down ?

Thanks in advance,

I want to put a new mSata in my AW14 so I can put the OS on it, and have the 2nd hdd as a place to put big program files and data (mostly Steam games), along with music, picture, etc. storage.

Do I have to do anything special in the bios and/or configure it to raid? Any help or instructions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hello,

I recently purchased an Alienware 17 r2 or the new 2015 edition. It is an awesome computer and one of my favorite features is that you can edit the lights that shine when you touch the touchpad or keyboard. When i first got it the lights they were amazingly bright but 2 days ago they became very low. I am wondering if theres is something that changes their brightness because i bought this computer 4 days ago and if its is already damaged i'm really mad. Please help me fix this.

Thank you,

:)

Disable tap-to-click on Latitude 7350 -- how?

Hi, I recently received a Latitude 7350 2-in-1 with Windows 8.1. On the whole it is a very nice laptop -- and a pretty good tablet as well. However! I'm finding that the touchpad on the base doesn't have any configuration options, and tap-to-click is enabled by default. A lot of times when I try to type or select things the tap-to-click winds up selecting/deleting text, hitting selection boxes I don't want, and generally being a nuisance. The control panel hardware settings don't seem to have any configuration options for the touchpad, and so I can't turn this feature off.

How do I disable tap-to-click?

Also, while it's much less of an issue, the scroll direction on the touchpad is the same as on the laptop screen itself. While I can adjust to this, I'd rather have the scroll direction for the touchpad be the same as on the other computers I've used, so that scrolling down moves the scrollbar down rather than up. Again, I don't see anywhere to configure this.

Inspiron 15 (3543) Touchpad Gestures Not Working

Hello everyone,

I recently purchased Inspiron 15 (3543). Before I updated Windows and all the drivers, I noticed none of the gestures were working. I let the computer update everything and even made sure I got the latest drivers for the touchpad.

However, gestures are not working. In fact, nothing I change in the Dell Pointing Devices (v18.1.34.40) setting affect the touchpad such as the pointer speed, palm rejection...etc.

I looked at some other touchpad issues from other Dell laptops but they did not help. The Chat is not available for this product. Are touchpad issues common?

Please help me. Thank you.

Does this mean I can get any processor for Intel under i3-5 or what? And can someone give me a link to what processors I can upgrade to?

Please and that would be much appreciated.

synchronizing M6500 to new inspiron

I have an M6500 which I have had for years also with a docking station (different of course).  I want to sync the hard drive on the inspiron with the hard drive on the M6500 so that I can travel with the inspiron with exact hard drive contents, files, folders, etc.

I have a disk duplicator that can write bit per bit to the new hard drive (assuming I remove it from the inspiron), I am not talking about Acronis or any of that other ***.  The only problem I can see is that if I do that then the docking station drivers will be lost on the inspiron.

Can I install the docking station drivers for the inspiron on the the M6500 then do the sync ?  Will that cause problems on the M6500 ?

Thanks

JT

Just bought a used (working) XPS 12 9Q33 on Ebay, can't wait to see what it has in store for me re: IR. I'm betting it will rear its ugly head before long.

The Dell Service Tag shows the warranty expires May 14, so I better get busy with transferring the ownership and "arming" myself to contact Dell.

Huge sympathy to all who have dealt with this issue and big thanks to those who have shared their experiences here, for newcomers like me. I have read many of the posts, especially the last several pages of the recent ones, it's good to see some of you have gotten results, albeit perhaps temporarily.

For what it's worth, the Dell Support System Configuration of my not-yet-received XPS 12 shows a Dell part number of PG1KX for the "ASSEMBLY, LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY, 12.5FHD, IN PLANE SWITCHING, AIR FORCE, 9Q33/4" and a part number of DXT07 for the "MODULE, LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY, 12.5FHD, IN PLANE SWITCHING, FML, 9Q33/4". Googling those 2 product numbers didn't shed much light on the LCD panel manufacturer/model number, so I'll have to wait 'til it gets here to check Device Manager.

I'll probably go through DellCares on Twitter if I have the issue, I'm starting to organize a Support game plan, if anyone has other recommendations, I'm all ears, thanks!

Dell Precision M4800 Memory not detected.

Hello, I have a Dell Precision M4800, i7-4940MX that came with 8GB of Samsung memory.  I have installed a Samsung 850 Pro 1TB SSD in the SATA, and a Samsung 840 EVO 1TB in the mSATA slot.  I am running BIOS version A13.  I have disabled the Intel HD Graphics in the BIOS so it only uses the Nvidia Quadro K2100M.  Everything was working fine.

I wanted to upgrade to 32GB memory so I bought 2 Patriot Viper 2x8GB kit.  Model: PV316G160LC9SK.  Each SODIMM module is supposed to be 8GB PC3-12800 1600MHz 1.35V 9-9-9-24.

When I remove the Samsung memory and install the Patriot Viper memory in all 4 slots or just 2 slots, the computer doesn't boot and I receive the LED blink code "No memory modules are installed/detected"

However, if I leave the Samsung memory in two of the slots and at the same time install two of the Patriot memory in the other two slots, the computer will boot.  BIOS will show 24GB however it shows the speed of 1333 instead of 1600.  If I remove the Samsung memory, once again it will not boot with the Patriot memory alone.

Why is the Patriot memory not recognized by itself and why can't I boot from it?

I looked at the Patriot Memory with the program CPU-Z. The timing tables shows JEDEC#3, JEDEC#4, JEDEC#5, XMP-1600.  All voltages say 1.35V

Why is there no memory settings or XMP setting in the BIOS?  Why would Dell offer me an unlocked i7-4940MX processor Extreme Edition, but there is no CPU settings for the unlocked multiplier?

Please help,

Thank you,

Zak00

Hi All,

I have a XPS 15 (L502X, Early 2011) Laptop. Which is freezing, throwing bluescreens, restarting and crashing my OS. I fixed it once by running chkdsk /f /r lots of fixes for several hours using the Repair DVD. But it continues to crash and reboot unexpectedly.

Running the Dell Diagnostics Custom Test->Hard Disk

I have below errors and tests are Failling.

Error Code 0F00:0232
Error Code 0F00:1332

Error code 0f00:1332 block xxxxxxxxx:Interrupt Request (IRQ) not sent in time.

Error code 0f00:1332 Interrupt Request (IRQ) not sent in time.

I have a 750GB 7500rpm SATA 3Gb/s Seagate HDD shipped with the Laptop. That is the expected life for the product.

Now lastly if my disk is about to die and I actually need to buy a new one ,which shall I go for.

750GB 7500rpm SATA 6Gb/s

1TB 5400rpm SATA 6GB/s

1TB 5400rpm SATA 3GB/s

IOPS really matter for me.

XPS14 L421X Beeps Continuously & Black Screen

I have an XPS14 L421X which when starting up will beep continuously and not show anything on the screen at all. It is a short beep followed by a long pause repeated over and over and this is continuous. After turning it off then on again 5-20 times it will eventually boot up properly.

I've tried removing the battery, reseating the ram etc.

Looking at the beep codes it looks like a bios or system board problem but could someone technical elaborate further and give me some advice on how to fix this issue?

Thanks.

Hi

How can we upgrade our recent purchase of XPS 12

current specs are 4gb RAM, 128SSD

As per Dell website it can hold upto 8GB and 256SSD, we did try to purchase but

Vendors are only have the 4GB/128SSD model

if upgradeable by this time, is 8GB/256SSD still the limit?

thanks
