Hello,

I have a Dell Inspiron 15.6" 3521 model. Every time I try to turn it on, whether it's hibernating, sleeping, or completely shut down, I hear the computer start to boot up, but nothing appears on the screen, I just hear a single, solitary beep over and over again. The only way to get the Dell to start up is to remove the battery, plug it back in, and try the on button again. I usually have to do this two to three times for the computer to successfully boot. Once the Dell boots everything works normally.

I am feeling this is a POST issue, can anyone help? It is just one beep, over and over again, with a blank screen.

Hey, 

I have a Dell Inspiron N5110 Laptop and a Samsung HM500JI usb 3.0 external hard drive drive.

When I plug the drive into the Usb 3.0 port on the laptop the drive shows up in Device manager under Other Devices with a yellow exclamation mark (!) stating it does not have the drivers installed (Code 28).

I have done a dell system analyse and updated all required drivers. I also updated the 4 drivers under chipset and yet still the drive does not show.

I checked the bios options and all USB options are enabled. The system is fully up-to-date but the external HD will not show up in computer management and I've searched for drivers for the drive itself.

No USB 2.0 / 3.0 thumb drives even work in this USB port but they all show up in device manager with the same issue.

I have plugged the external HD into other 3.0 USB ports on another system and it works fine. As well as plugging it into 2.0 ports and again it works fine.

I'm out of ideas for this one. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,

Is there a way to increase value of keybord backlight timeout on the new XPS 13 2015?

I checked out in Windows Mobility Center and advanced power settings but I don't found anything and Quickset is not available on this laptop 

I can just adjust light or turn off with F11.

I bought some Ram at Staples to increase Ram in my laptop but it never worked. Where should i get Ram for this laptop? The laptop is consistently telling me i am out of virtual memory and keeps crashing.

Hi All,

How long is it reasonable to expect a battery to last? I have carefully charged/discharged my battery, however it has now failed. Its very frustrating, my previous Dell laptop suffered the same problem, my Wife's Dell laptop also went the same way.

I am using a Latitude E5500 Dell Laptop running Vista Business.  I have a question about using the "Dell Backup and Recovery Manager."  Can I drag and drop backed up file structures onto the correct location on the machine? The files in question currently reside on an external hardrive in the backup format of the Dell Backup software.  However,  when I run the software on the machine to attempt a restore it does not see the backup.

Any help with what options I may have will be appreciated.

Hi I've purchased a Dell Inspiron 15 3531 which comes with DW1506 wifi module. I have replaced the module with Intel Centrino 2230 with Bluetooth.

Driver installs fine but does not see the Bluetooth function. So WIFI works but Bluetooth is not even recognised.

Is there a way to know if Dell disable bluetooth via BIOS or is it a hardware limitation? I am running the latest A03 bios version.

Wow, I don't know where to start - after one year, my Inspiron 15 screen is failing (blinks in colored horizontal lines and goes black), the camera has ceased to function at all, the touchpad changes settings every time I restart, I have to restart at least once a day when the computer either locks up slows down too much, the machine overheats, some keys have come loose, about half the time I restart I just get my background screen and no buttons and have to force-shutdown again...  that's what comes to mind off the top of my head.

It's just past warranty, of course. My question is, should I bother trying to fix all these problems, or just trash it?  There's plenty of memory left and I've turned off all nonessential processes, and have no obscure downloads, very few apps in addition to Windows 8.1 - there's NO reason this thing should be failing so magnificently.  Does Dell take any responsibility for this kind of thing?

Dell Inspiron 15 3542   Win 7, 64bit  shipped w/ 4Gb mem single slot.  Replaced with an 8Gb of same speed, voltage and timing.  Bios sees 8Gb.  Windows sees 8Gb but reports 3.41Gb usable the balance in "Hardware Reserverd" state.   No options in Bios to reserve memory.....Stumped.  Any ideas?

Also ran the Dell diag, no issues.

C drive was not recognized, chkdsk repaired errors, C drive is empty 

Programs seem to be on x drive 

How can I get this computer or get a recovery to C drive (It seems good but I haven't verfied it other than chkdsk

Hello ,

        I have  a Dell Inspiron N5110 laptop purchase on 2013, my battery can hold up power for 3 hour.but after it reduce to 30 min only .then my laptop shows replace your battery.if i charge my laptop  in off condition .it shows white light indication  and then BLINK AS ORANGE LIGHT . so i purchased a genuine new dell J1KND 6 cell LI ON battery .and put it in the charge for 8 hours ,then the laptop  boot from battery power when the DELL logo appears it suddenly turned off.i connect the Ac adapter it shows white and then blinking as orange light .iam from india and my warranty also expierd. please  give solution for this ....

Hello everyone,

I've been trying to upgrade the boot drive of my Inspiron 15 3551 into a Samsung SSD. Specifically the Samsung 850 Evo.

At first I tried cloning the drive. I tried nearly every single one of the drive cloning softwares out there apart from Acronis since I don't want to pay for that. Ran Samsung Data Migration, EaseUS, Aomei, Macrium, and so on... I made sure the I shrank the drive so that the data from the WD 500 gig fits in with 250 gig SSD.

When I try to boot from the newly Cloned SSD. I get nothing...

Then I read somewhere on this forum that I can't actually properly clone a dell image onto and SSD since the HDD has some sort of key in it that the BIOS looks for when its booting. That same post suggested that I asl Dell Support for and OEM Windows Installer.

So I did. I've tried installing it 3 times now and booting from the drive. I still get nothing.

Is this even doable?

Please let me know if there is something that I'm missing here. Any clue would help.

I am preforming a clean install of Windows XP on a Inspiron E1705.  I have gone to the Dell drivers page and downloaded the drivers that I needed.

Under the Category System Utilities according your site.  Now when I place the Service Tag for my dell there is NO System Utilities and NO Dell System Software and NO Dell Notebook System Software.

Is the really needed mandatory or since it is not there I can just not worry about it.

hard drive went out sent it in they said they replace it two weeks later here i sent with the hard drive out again took it to were i got it from walmart and they say they cant give my money back becase dell open it up dell says they cant give the money back becase i didnt buy the two computers from them and they cant help what walmart has as a policy but they can sell to walmart

Hello.

I bought Dell Power Companion (12,000 mAh)-PW7015M last Sunday.

I try to use this product in order to charge my venue 11 pro 7140 tablet.
(I charged my dell power companion for 3 hours. and I used it.) But, this extra battery didn't charge my tablet.
When I was connected venue 7140 with dell power companion. I could see following message.

[Alert! A 3W AC power adapter has been detcted. which is less than the recommend XXX AC adapter
 originally shipped....]

This extra battery only able to charge my cell phone. It doesn't charge venue 11 pro 7140.

But dell product page said,

[ overview -> Compatibility -> This product is compatible with the following systems -> Venue 11 Pro (7140) ]
*I took a photo this product page.

What does this mean? How can I charge venue 11 pro tablet with dell power companion? 
Venue 11 pro 7140 tablet can charge with micro USB cable.
(Is there any charge method? There was no explanation about another charge method in manual.)
But connect this product to venue 11 pro tablet, It charged very very low voltage. It means battery is going to discharge.

I want to ask this problem, and If dell support needs screenshot, I will send jpg file.

(I send e-mail this contects to dell support. But they didn't respond. So I wrote this page.)

Hi,

I installed Windows 7 32bit on Dell Latitude E6420 and all drivers.

In Device Manager shows  Unknown Device with exclamation mark.

I couldn't figure out which driver

Can anyone advice what driver need to be installed and do I find it?

Good day guys!

Looking for advice and help on a problem I've stupidly put myself into.

So the other day, I inherited my dad's laptop and it was rather filled up, so I decided to give it a nice format. To kill two birds with one stone, I've been wanting to tryout Linux for the longest time but never had a spare system to clean install it.

With that, I wiped the Windows 8 (UEFI) installation which was on the laptop. I (tried) to install ArchLinux onto it, without much prior knowledge that this laptop had UEFI. I followed this guide (wikihow.com/Install-Arch-Linux) right up to part 3, in which I couldn't proceed for some reason. I then resorted to the user-friendlier distro of Ubuntu, which installed perfectly. But then even after lots of tinkering, battery life was pretty abysmal. So, I resorted to Windows 7 instead, which I do love much.

Now, I find that both GPU and CPU fan cannot be detected.

• I did a BIOS diagnostic and the fan works.
• Tried GPU-Z, CPU-Z, Openhardwaremonitor, Speedfan, and all could not detect the fans.
• I have reinstalled all required drivers as per given by Dell Drivers.

Been crawling around the net trying to find a similar case with a solution but couldn't find any, but I did find a few snippets of comments saying certain hardware functionality are tied to UEFI?

Any advice on the matter is greatly appreciated! Thank you!
