Dell-Inspiron 15R - Unable to start (Black screen appears)
Hi,
I have dell-inspiron 15R model laptop. I am getting issue with start up. Laptop doesn't gets start in single attempt. It shows black screen when I start laptop. After multiple attempts (even if I keep running with black screen, seems fan and laptop is working and getting hot as well. With this state it automatically switch off after 20-25 mins). When I try again after 20-25 mins (after automatically switched off with black screen), usually it get starts successfully.
It is very annoying to wait to start after many attempts. Can someone help me here, what is the exact issue with my laptop.

One AC adapter fits both the new 2015 XPS 13 and Latitude E6220?
I have 4 Dell laptops, some for work and some for home. Does anyone know if there is a way to use one AC adapter supporting both the new 2015 XPS 13 and the Latitude E6220?
Dell has changed the adapter connector, and this becomes a problem to me. The XPS 13 adapter comes with the smaller plug, and the E6220 adapter comes with the big one. They are not compatible. So I have to carry two adapters in my trip. And it feels unnecessarily heavy and bulky.
There is nothing stop Dell to make the new adapter backward compatible to the old laptop including E6220 - Why not? It is just a pigtail converter and a BIOS update on the old laptops to recognize the new AC adapter. This would save a pound in my bag and I wonder if it exists? or will Dell make one?
Dell use carbon fiber, mag-alumium, and CNC mill to save weight. Every gram is expensive. Why can't they just make a pigtail and save huge?

It's not about games, the current GPU is ok, but is it possible to change the CPU in my laptop and/or add some more RAM? XPS 13 Fault Reported
My new XPS 13 keeps giving a message to the effect that some hardware is not functioning well. I have investigated but could not find any fault. I noted the message was coming from the Dell Update Utility sitting in the notification area. I have since disabled auto check on the utility to avoid the message. Can support advise what I should do. Get the utility to automatically raise a support ticket? Thanks.

Inspiron 3537 won't turn on even after replacing it's motherboard twice ( Carry-in Svc/Return to Base warranty status still on )
Please help me i bought a dell inspiron 3537 ci5-4200u , 8192 DDR and this was on 15/02/2014 that's why it is still on warranty ( ends in december 2015 ), my laptop worked fine for a nearly 10 months and one day it won't turn on ( the power button is on hence the screen is totally black). I took it to Dell Partner Direct Distributor in Tunisia ( IGL Distribution ) after sales service and they said that it is a motherboard problem , so they replaced it and sent it back to me. The laptop worked fine when i turned it on, but when i was trying turn it on once more the same problem appeared again. As a result i sent it back for the second time to the IGL Distribution and again with the same motherboard issue, so they replaced it . I took my laptop hoping that the problem is solved , however the same scenario is still repeating , so what can i do ??? Is this really a motherboard issue ?? I'm waiting for your early reply patiently.

Problems with USB SSD drive on DELL Backup and Recovery.
I have a Dell Latitude E7440 with Win 8.1Pro.
I have started using DELL Backup and Recovery Premium, Version 1.7.5.60.
Initially I started using a Verbatim USB 3.0 128 GB SSD as my backup drive.
However I could not get "DBR System Backup" to recognise this, although it showed as a 117GB NTFS removable disc. In "DBR Bootable Backup" the drive shows up.
Eventually I put in my "old" USB 2.0 Maxtor 250Gb External Drive.
Bang ! everything started working for the Maxtor Drive. The MAXTOR drive gives me 2 "drives" a "DRB_Boot" (FAT32) 500MB & "Data Storage" (NTFS) 234GB.
Ideally I would like use my Verbatim USB 3.0 128GB since it's small and does not require external power. I have read all sorts about "diskpart", changing USB settings etc. but no clear answers.

Windows 8.1 will not install on Latitude E6400
I am not sure if anything can be done or not. Windows 8.1 refuses to install as it says NX is not supported.
Coreinfo indicates NX, PAE, & SSE2 are supported by P8400 Core 2 Duo and XD sellected in bios.
Any suggestions other than buying a new computer?

Studio XPS 1647 Backlight dead
Last night I was an idiot and spilled some soup on my computer. The first immediate symptom was screen flickering, so I powered down, took it apart, and did my best to clean it with methanol and a lint-free cloth. After booting it back up there was some keyboard weirdness but everything was otherwise fine, so I left it overnight hoping the keyboard would work itself out.
It did, but after using it a few minutes this morning the screen started flickering again. I hooked up an external monitor and that was fine, so I was pretty confident it wasn't the video card. After a few more cleaning/reboot cycles the screen is now blank, and shining a bright flashlight at it confirms that the backlight is the issue (I can see the windows logo in the reflected light).
What I don't really understand looking through the service manuals is why this would happen from a liquid spill at the front of the computer. There doesn't seem to be anything related to the screen near the front at all. The only thing I can think of is a power regulator, but even those seem to be near the back. I can't seem to find much of anything about diagnosing backlight problems (except with the keyboard which I could not possibly care less about), so I'm hoping someone can point me toward something to try that could potentially fix this.

- What issues did you experience and what did you do to overcome them?
- Have you run benchmarks and if so, what performance are you seeing with this SSD?

Size of buttons WITHIN pop up boxes
I just got a new Dell XPS 15 (SSD) (windows 8.1), and am having weird issue.
When a pop up box appears (for example: click on "arrange favorites" in Internet explorer, and the "arrange favorites" box appears), the buttons at the bottom of the box are VERY small and the text even smaller. I have tried usual things, but can't get this fixed.
It is NOT just with the internet application. When I loaded in some software, those boxes and buttons in said boxes were small.
I was able to make the box bigger, but not the buttons within said box.
Does this sound at all familiar to anyone? Does anyone have any suggestions?
I would greatly appreciate any ideas or help.

I'm using M6400, I'm currently using Windows 10 Technical Preview which I updated from Windows 8.1. Most of the time after logging in after few minutes of use my screen turns black, I have to force restart.
My PC Configurations:
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU P8600 @ 2.40 GHz
12 GB RAM
nVidia Graphic Card 512MB

Laptop Motherboard Compatibility
I have a Dell Inspiron 15R with Windows 7, which by reading on the internet I think the motherboard has quit working. I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 that has a good motherboard (and has Windows Vista) in a bad cracked case between keyboard and screen. This laptop works, but it is not easy to use due to case. How can I find if the motherboards are compatible without tearing both apart? I would like to put the Inspiron 1545 motherboard in the Inspiron 15R.

how do I find and change these settings?
I just got an Alienware laptop and a message came up saying that I don't unplug my laptop enough and to prevent the battery from wearing out I should put it in some kind of desktop mode that would let it run on battery and then charge when it needs it. I did that but now it is just staying st the same power level and not charging. I want to take it to work with me but I want it fully charged, not at 68%. I can't seem to find the settings for this program to change them.

F keys flipping between multimedia and function modes - Inspiron 17 7737
My F keys keep flipping between multimedia and function modes randomly when the laptop is booted up, restarted or even comes out of sleep mode.
It's even happening after a PC reset (initiated by a faulty screen).
Anyone come across this?
