Laptop won't power on...

We have a Dell Inspiron 15R N5110 that suddenly won't power on.   Checked all the power connections, all seem fine.  Took out battery, held power button 10 seconds, put it back in:  nothing.  When we plug the A/C adaptor into the wall socket, its light lights up---then dims when we plug it back in to the laptop???  Is it the adaptor?

I had my external hard drive bug out. It's no longer readable. I purchased Zero Assumption recovery software but it can't access the drive.

The drive registers when plugged into the usb port registers on the 'computer' page on the start menu but can't be accessed.

ZA says to take the drive out of the external box and plug into a sata port.

Where can I find a Sata port on the computer?

Laptop doesn't start until it heats up

Hi all,

I've got a Studio 1555, 4GB, 320GB, Core 2 Duo. For last couple of months, I have been facing a very strange issue with my laptop. When I switch my power button, the button shows the light. I hear the sound of the system being working but nothing is displayed.

After that, when I keep my system on bed and cover it with some cloth or something, it gets heated up in 15-20 minutes. After that when I again push the power button, then the cooling fan starts working and the system works normally afterwards.

I have tried switching the display but it doesn't work anywhere. I took it to the repair guy but he doesn't understand the issue.

Please Help.

boght this comuter 1 week ago came with 8 gb ram , win8.1 64 bit instlled passed all dell tests ok 

in details windows  i: got 8 GB RAM - 3.43 USABLE

why dosent it use all of the 8gb ram ?

dell service in israel 1900-72-1659 does not answer over 2 hours

ive read this could be a bios issue

what is  version ? i have A03

how can i go to ram settings on this bios its locked for memory and cpu 

is this problem in all del laptops of this model ?

My laptop won't turn on. It used to turn with the lid bearly open. Now it won't turn on at all. I've even tried unplugged the battery and power cord and held the power button as long as 30 seconds. Plugged back battery and power cord and tried to turn it on and even without the battery plugged in.  Any suggestions?

i Have a Dell Inspiron 15 3537, i tried to enable Wake On Lan settings but i can't ... i tried all possible ways but nothin, only works if computer in sleep mode, but if it's shutdown it won't

so i was asking about somebody who succeeded in enabling Wake On Lan could Write steps of enabling it.

Dell System Detect is Installed on PC yet Dell Support Website does not Recognize this

PC: Dell Inspiron 15 3542

OS: Windows 8.1

Problem:  I am unable to download drivers from the dell support website

Dell System Detect has been successfully installed on my PC.  It's icon is present in the system tray.  Inspite of this I am repeatedly getting the message that I need to download and re-install the Dell System Detect software.  No matter how many times I install it as the administrator, I get the same message.  I am unable to accomplish anything on the Dell Support Website. 

I have looked for a problem with the software on my laptop.  Sfc scans do not detect any problems with missing or corrupt windows software.  What else can I do to correct this frustrating glitch?

DELL XPS 1645 GRAPHICS CARD ISSUE

I BOUGHT DELL XPS 1645 4 YEARS AGO, AT THAT TIME I GOT GRAPHICS ATI 565V, and I am able to play battlefield 4 as my driver was ati catalyst 14.4.

Recently I installed windows 8, and my graphics card now showing 4670. I want to know how to install ati 565v. It really makes me freak out that why I cant install 565v graphics.

Kindly answer in professional manner.

Wireless mouse doesn't work when docked.

I have a new Latitude E7440 laptop, with a Dell wireless mouse and E-series docking station.  When docked, the wireless mouse is disabled.  Does the mouse's USB receiver need to be plugged into the docking station in order for it to work? this would be pretty inconvenient.

1) I get since some months blue screens like this:

stop 0x0000007A

stop 0x000000F4

etc. When letting the computer idle for a while (and seldom also when working on it). This is not really something that I expect from a Dell for which I payed about 1000 euro about two years ago.

I tried to nail the problem down, but there is no hope. After some hints, it could be a problem of the harddisc. It is a seagate ST9500423AS.

2) So I tried to use, as recommended, the SeaTools for checking it (normal dskchk does not find anything, similarily any other ms- windows tool for disk checking). Seatools do not work if starting it from a CD-rom (boot) nor if starting from a USB-stick (boot). I tried several recommended solutions (changing the bios for the HD from Raid or AHCI to ATA, making different boot sticks or CD-s, etc.)

3) I also updated all the drivers from dell. They worked, except of the bios, which does not update, no matter how I try to do it (with boot disk or from windows). This is really a shame, noone knows why (not even here at Dell support!)

4) I then tried the dell diagnostics (in the boot menu), but also they do NOT work. Also, nobody knows why.

i am pretty disappointed of Dell and the fact that there are no solutions to be found for problems that were mentioned by other forum users already.
My former laptop, a D820 worked for seven years, this one has problems already after two years.

Can anybody here answer my problems above, no. 1-4? thanks in advance!

XPS 15 PXE boot

Has anyone found a USB NIC that will PXE boot an XPS 15?

The Startech USB21000S2 (7500 chipset)  is recognised, but fails after downloading NBP.

The same dongle works fine with XPS 12's.

Dell Inspiron N5030 fails to start up

Hi,

I have just got my dell inspiron N5030 back from my university computer service because they fixed a problem with the screen.

Now, when I turn it on, it gets to the "starting windows" screen and goes black. This was not an issue at all before I gave it in. Could you advise me on how to fix this or what the problem might be?

This is Arif Nisar Malik,i would like to inform you that i have purchased the laptop “INSPIRON 3542"from pune on 21st jan,2015 as after some days i came to know there is a problem in the system.So,i contact your customer care help line number they suggests me to go for the service center of 'BEGUMPET,HYDERABAD' As per your executive namely Mr. Novel Pento changes the parts of the system without informing me as i told him i don't want repair the parts of the system want to replacement of the system, as per your service center engineer bottom base and top base was damaged.This was first cheating done by your side with me.So,i escalate the matter to the senior escalation team and a lady namely Ms.Rashmi is looking to my case ,as per her words finally they are going to replace my laptop but she is not taking my case seriously. As i am suffering from this problem last one month as i talk to her she says, it will take 25 days or more for the replacement..as i
have done all formalities and also submitted original laptop on 27th feb,2015.Also,she signed me a document.(kindly check the attachment) but still she says it will take some more time. As i told her madam please take my case on the high priority, she says i can't do it.So,sir kindly tell me what kind of customer service you are providing to the customer. this is totally cheating done by DELL with me.As,you people are not trying to understand the pain of the customer,as,i have urgent need of laptop, so,that's why i am requesting you to please look in to my case and solve my problem as soon as possible.

XPS 13 (2015) i7 CPU Speed (again)

I currently have a i7 XPS 13 (2015) and I am noticing an odd issue where if I put the computer into sleep mode, then unplug it and then resume sleep, my processor is limited to 0.48 GHz.  

When I plug it back in, it resumes being able to go up to 2.9 GHz. 

I have the power profile set to high performance and if I just unplug the laptop while on it will not limit itself to 0.48 GHz.  This only happens after resume from sleep.  Rebooting the laptop fixes the issue.

I have already tried the Config TDP Level fix as suggested and I thought it had solved my problem, but it turns out I'm still seeing the same behavior.  Any ideas?

New Dell Inspiron 7000 17 with EXTREMELY slow wireless

So i've bought the new Dell Inspiron 17 7000 and it's a fantastic device except for the unbearably slow wireless connection. It has the Intel AC 7265 Network Adaptor installed and i'm getting download speeds of 1MB when all other devices are hitting 20MB no problem.

I have updated all drivers including BIOS (now running A03) and it's still tediously slow.


Any ideas?

Video / audio stuttering on new system

Dell Terry B,

I have a new system with an nvidia GPU.  I have updated the video driver on the system (it was actually up to date).   Still getting major stuttering when I try to play video files off my local hard drive.  Video played through a browser, such as Netflix, Hulu, etc., work perfectly fine.

Do you have any idea how to resolve this problem?
