I'm just about to order a Precision M3800 with a 512gb ssd mini card and the 91 WHr battery.
Although Dell have now told me that this can't be done as you either have to use a 256gb ssd mini card with that battery or use the 61 WHr battery if I want to stay with the 512gb.
It seems that on their website you can customise it with the bigger battery and 512 ssd, and their own technical dept. has said that it is possible, so not sure what's going on here.
Can anyone shine some light on this, or done a similar configuration.

SSD failures on 7537
Hello,
I am the owner of a 7537. It's a great laptop (well, except for the touchpad, I really cannot get used to it).
However I had a failure with the original SSD 256GB drive. One day it could not find at boot the operative system and when I run the diagnostic, it found a critical issue with the drive; so I replaced it with another one, identical model and brand. (apparently the old one is not completely dead, because I can still access most of the files via external sata-usb adapter, probably the failure was located on the part of memory where Win8 was present)
The second one worked for a month, then yesterday at boot... operative system not found. After a few tentative it booted successfully and now there are no symptoms. The diagnostics say the drive is ok.
So:
- is this a known issue with that SSD drive or with the laptop?
- with carpet/cold dry weather/etc I have a lot of electrostatic discharges, every time I touch the frame of the laptop. Could that kill the drives?

E6520 and 16gb SDHC card
I just recently inherited a E6520 and am having a problem getting it to see a 16gb SDHC card. I am running Win 7 Pro 64bit, and the machine acknowledges the card reader, but does not see the card. The same card and reader combination works perfectly on my desktop running the same OS. When I insert the card in the on board reader it is completely ignored. The machine was reimaged before it came to me and is 100% up to date with the Microsoft update site, and there are no red or yellow X's in the device manager. Any and all thoughts and suggestions welcome. Thanks!

Open GLs? Knowing Dedicated Graphics Memory before purchase?
Hello,
I currently own a Dell Inspiron 17 5748. It has 4gb of ram, and according to my driver properties, I have no dedicated graphics memory. (e.g. 0mb).
I need at least 512mb in dedicated graphics memory to used the 3d features of Photoshop CC 2014. (Open GL option is grayed out because of no dedicated graphics memory)
Will adding more RAM fixed this problem or do I have to purchase another laptop?
And if I have to purchase another laptop, where do I find the dedicated graphic memory specs for each laptop so I'll know prior to purchase?
And finally, which laptops (with a 17" screen) have over 512mb of dedicated graphics memory?

cpu fan running all the time
Hii, I am using Dell Inspiron N5110. I, recently formatted my Laptop. After that my CPU Fan is running all the time at high speed and making noise. Previously, it used to happen only when I played any game. After formatting, I have downloaded all the latest drivers. Please help what could be the reason.

I want to update BIOS to a new version.. Trying to run the exe has been receiving an error with the above title.
My battery is dead. I tried to solve the problem for days but I can not handle with it.
Is there a way to pass the step?

Hard Drive is locked
My laptop is stuck in an automatic repair loop. I have an Inspiron 17R laptop and I cannot get it out of the loop. I was trying to download a game on steam one day when my computer kept crashing. Eventually it "crashed so hard" that it was thrown into an automatic repair loop. Right now I am trying to refresh my computer. When I first tried to do it, the computer said that there were not any administrator accounts available. After that, I used my mom's computer to make a recovery drive and then I again tried to refresh it and my computer said that the hard drive is locked. I have also tried to run windows in safe mode but that did not work. I am running Windows 8.1 btw.

Messed up partitions now cannot use Dell Datasafe recovery when using f8 on boot
Hi all,
I've had a quick look around but cannot find anything on this one.
My XPS L502X had really slowed down so I backup all my stuff, did a full recovery and when I had installed a few of the basics I used Aomei backupper to do a backup of my c:.
I thought I was just doing a backup of the C: as I had unchecked the recovery partition. I thought it wise to check the backup and so did a restore. Unfortunately when I did this it created another recovery partition. Not a problem I thought, I'll just change the partitions. I've been doing this stuff for years and had every confidence, but that is where it all went wrong.
THE MAIN PROBLEM: After trying to correct everything, and correcting anything that followed I am now at the the stage where I can run windows fine and dandy but when I restart windows and use f8 to get to recovery options, instead of giving me a login challenge it asks me for a Windows recovery CD, which of course I do not have. The error is 0Xc0000225. I have seen some things about boot
All my fault of course, but I would like to fix it if I can. I used MiniTool Partition Wizard to try and fix most of it. The drives are now as below. 
To make windows boot I had to make the partition after the one named Recovery the Boot partition. There is some unallocated space that I cannot get rid of and C: is the last partition. Notice that the unallocated space and the system partition are Logical disks. Is this correct? The unallocated space is possibly the start of an extended partition for the logical partitions.
I'm not sure what this is meant to look like but I would appreciate any ideas or advice.

Inspiron 15R (5520, Mid 2012) - HDD / SSD, and CD/DVD-ROM caddy for SSD: speed differences?
For my Inspiron 15R (5520, Mid 2012) – Dell says it is mobo speed-limited to SATA II 3 GB/s, but Dell says I can replace HDD with SSD, although SSD will still run at SATA II 3 GB/s rather than SATA III 6 GB/s. That speed reduction is okay with me.
Another option is putting SSD in adapter to put in CD/DVD-ROM slot, but I have a question: is there a speed difference between putting SSD in place of HDD as compared adapter putting in CD/DVD-ROM slot?
And another question: what about leaving HDD in place and putting SSD into adapter to put in CD/DVD-ROM slot, booting from SSD and using HDD as storage – would that setup work? The reverse?

I almost purchased a converter to take ethernet to USB for my laptop when I noticed I have the latest router from my cable company and it has both USB and ethernet. My wireless stopped working. Dell inspiron 3537
Hello guys, i just bought a new laptop Dell Inspiron 3537. I was working perfectly with the wireless and
just before two weeks it stopped working. Sometimes it reads like wireless sometimes it does not.
I just bought it is fresh new , i do not know what to do with it. I tried troubleshooting and it says my adapter has some problems. I thought it were the updates but i updated it. Then i checked for the virus but there is no.I also have windows 7 but not the genuine version. Does this have to do with it???
I downloaded the driver from the dell webpage and tried to install it and still it does not work.
I really need some help you guys....

Vostro 3750 - Win 7 / 64 freeze every minute
Hello everyone,
I have an issue since a few days with my Vostro 3750 operating with Seven 64bit :
Windows freezes during one second, approximately every minute. It's a real problem when you're listening or recording music. I did not install anything since this issue appears.
Unfortunately I have no restore point available before this issue...
I've updated every drivers, check virus, malware etc... but there is no improvement.
Does anybody have an idea ?
