Hello.

Today I got an issue with my wireless not being able to connect to my home WiFi network.It worked yesterday but today it did not.

I checked the device manager and found that IP,IPv6,Network Monitor drivers were appearing in the network devices with that exclamation mark.I've looked this up and found out that they appear because there is some kind of conflict.Anyway the thread explained how to fix that.And I did.But my wireless still did not connect to the network.

Then I looked at some of the other components I saw that PCI Simple Communications Controller also had the exclamation mark.Now I looked at dell's driver page and did not found any drivers for the chipset.I looked at the windows 7 drivers and found a driver there.Download it and tried to install it.The exclamation mark did not disappear.And still no connection with my wireless adapter.
Any suggestions how to fix this PCI Simple Communications Controller?

Just to give some more info.The laptop is running windows 8.As I said just yesterday it worked nicely.Today however I noticed that my wireless connection get's dropped from time to time and I had to reconnect it.And just few hours ago it stopped working again.I restarted the rooter,but no change.Since in the household we have few laptops I can say that it's not an internet provider,or rooter issue since all the other laptops are running wifi with no issues.Right now I'm writing from the laptop with the wifi issue.I'm using a wired connection now and I have no problems with it.

Any recommendations would be nice.

My M18x R1 has started causing a Black Screen issue. I have ran many tests that do not indicate any hardware errors. The ePSA boot test confirms all hardware is good.

I have done a fresh install of Windows and the fault still occurs. It is completely random. There is no warning, it just happens. I have to power down and restart. There is no messages in the event viewer to point to the issue.

If anyone has any information as to what could be causing the issue I would appreciate your input. As mentioned I have tried everything and it must be something simple that I am missing.

Is Inspiron 1520 worth upgrading?

My Inspiron 1520 running Vista with 2GB memory is still working, but slowly. I don't use it often so I would opt to keep it if it could be make to run a bit faster. Would adding another 2GB of memory do that? Or is it futile to try to upgrade it? Any suggestions to improve its speed would be appreciated.

I have a new Inspiron 5547. The touchpad is erratic triggering actions at the slightest touch, selecting and deleting text just by barely touching the pad. Click events happen just by rolling the cursor over a link or app icon. Sometimes when I place the cursor some place it jumps when I start to type. Sometimes the left button stops working and the right button menu pops up with pressing the left button.

I've tried repeatedly to decrease the touch sensitivity and turn off the gestures and turn of touch to click. All I want the touchpad to do is place the cursor in the right place so I can get a click with the left button.

I use Chrome as my browser on Windows 8.1. Ofter it seems the pad works fairly well when the computer is first turned on, but after awhile the problems start and get worse the longer I work.

Anybody else have this problem?

When the Laptop was new all three ports worked, eventually only the first port works, which is a serious inconvenience. Other than the USB issue it is a wonderful device.

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 (N5040) and currently having problems with it. I was watching something this morning and suddenly the screen turned green and then shut off. It turns on but the screen refuses to. I first expected that the screen is just unplugged inside the computer so I tried to hook it up to my TV via Hdmi and oddly it didn't do anything.I took it all apart disconnecting everything and then reconnecting everything. Everything seemed to be in good shape. No signs of shorts. Then after letting it run I noticed it beep 4 times. According to Dell 4 beeps mean "Read/Write error." I don't know if they meant the ram or hdd so I tried isolating both sticks of ram and no difference. I tried putting in two different hdds, nothing different. Even if they were I don't know why the screen wouldn't turn on and the bios wouldn't try to load. I suspect that the gpu is just fried. Any suggestions? Dell Inspiron 15 (N5040), Intel i3, 8 gb of ram. Windows 7.

Hi,

I am having problem installing Dell Superspeed USB 3.0 docking station. I downloaded drivers, installed them, connected the dock and only USB works. No USB Display device in Device Manager, works only as a USB hub.

Tried already: cleaning and reinstalling the software (both from Displaylink web and Dell driver), plugging and unplugging the dock from USB/power/changing USB port in my XPS12. Problem remains.

I have a Inspiron  600m that I had to wipe and reinstall XP on. That went well but I have no Drivers disk to install  WiFi, Ethernet, etc drivers. Dell's website I guess has the drivers but 1) can't tell what I need, 2) since I can't get Dell laptop to find WiFi I can't take it online to  get needed drivers. I have tried to download on a different computer thumb drive but that's useless since they just want to search current computer and download to it.  ???

I have the original disks but not one that has drivers on it. Laptop shows 6 missing drivers under device manager but how do I get them?  And how do  I install them?

Laptop starts up. Pressing F2, F8, or F11 seem to do nothing. The black screen which gives instructions and options for selecting these start up options appears on the screen and is gone in a flash. Laptop proceeds to Microsoft start up and/or "windows is loading files" then nothing. A completely empty screen for hours on end. There are no files on this laptop that I need to save so any option for restoration will be acceptable.

so this precision was originally a non baclit keyboard and recently replaced it with a backlit and the right arrow key does not work. I have checked every ribbon on this keyboard and everything is snug. I am running windows 8.1. Am I missing something here. Is it a hardware or software issue i need to look into? There is not much information running google searches so I hope i can find some direction or solution here.

Hi,

I have this DELL inspiron 15R (N5010) laptop for the last 4 years. recently only, it started tripping all of a sudden. I thought it was failure of fan and so replaced it with a new one. Also got complete removal of dust and all, new coat of thermal paste and checking of heat sink (which turned out to be fine). 

But the tripping problem is not solved till now! Still it suddenly trips after just 15 minutes of use!!

Please help.

Hi,

I own dell inspiron p10f and it was working fine then suddenly it was a nightmare. I opened my laptop an hour earlier before my job so it would sync all my files from google drive,it powered on properly. I went out and get back after an hour to start on my home based job and I was in pain when I saw my laptop's screen is black as in all black . I've tried almost all possible way to resolve the issue however I don;t have any luck . I decided to join this forum so I can post my situation here and hoping someone could help!

Hi,

I just received my XPS 13 and the fan noise is louder than I was expecting.  It is on almost constantly and will spin up and down repeatedly.

Is this normal, all I have really done is install office and some other apps.  Is there anything I can do to fix it?

I have a cannon Pixma MX870 printer which works very well with my Inspiron 530 desktop (windows vista), but my Inspiron laptop 1545 (windows 7) is not able to scan, nor can I do it from the display on the front of the printer.  Any ideas?

Hey guys, 

For the past two months, my laptop has had trouble turning on. I'd press the power button and it'd light up, try to turn on, and then a second or two later shut off. At the start I would just keep pressing it until it finally would turn on. Eventually, it stopped doing that and the only way it would turn on was if I had it plugged in. Once it was on, I could then unplug the charger and the laptop would work normally.

Then, about a month ago, it started to not turn on even with the charger plugged in. I would push the power button, it would light up, then shut off. Then, automatically, it would light up again and try to turn on again, and then shut off. (If the computer's unplugged I would have to manually push the power button for each attempt). With the charger plugged in, it would automatically try to turn on again and again the minute I press the power button once. It got to the point where the computer would attempt to turn on at least 20 times before it would work. This worries me as I'm scared one day it will just never turn on again.

Does anyone know the problem? I know it is not the battery, as I bought a new one thinking it could be but the problem still persisted. Any ideas? The computer is 2 1/2 years old.

This was a great machine, but over the past week has only charged intermittently. Sometimes I needed to just twist or nudge the power cord in order for the battery to power up.  Other times the message stating that I needed a dell adaptor came up.
Yesterday the laptop stopped charging  and the battery has reduced to zero.  It will not recharge and is therefore no use to me as it needs to be constantly plugged in.
I have tried a different power supply (same type) and that will not charge the laptop either.  Both chargers are the official Dell ones that were supplied with the machine.  I suspect it is not the battery either as it took me over an hour to get any power into the machine.  Of course it is out of warranty at almost two years old but has been a great machine and I'm loathe to just scrap it.
I have another Dell laptop ( a Vostro) which has suffered exactly the same fate and stopped charging after less than 2 years.
Three questions:
1) Am I just unlucky that the same fault has developed in two machines, or is it more common problem in Dell laptops?

2) Is there a way to have it repaired by Dell? I realise i would have to pay, but there menus keep sending me back to buy an extended warranty which I am not eligible for.
3)  If Dell won't repair (or the cost is prohibitive), Is it possible to disassemble the machine and replace the socket that the power supply plugs into, or would it have to be the whole motherboard that is replaced?

Turned on my inspiron for the first time. Was going thru setup.  Went thru step where apps were being loaded.  I was cautioned not to turn off computer.  I did not touch computer.  Next computer went to blue screen with little circle turning in clockwise direction.  It has been on this screen for 75inutes.  I have noticed that the power button is not on.  I have pushed power button then I get the screen with the date and time.  I click on the screen and get the sign on screen. I put in my account password and get the blue screen with the little spinning circle.  I can't get to the start screen.  Any suggestions??

My XPS 14 shuts off immediately when the power adapter is unplugged. It will not turn on with being plugged in. The battery is fully charged and has no charging issues. The BIos are updated as well as the other software. This happens every few months and last for a few days, then it goes away.

Any suggestions?

I purchased a new Inspiron 15 3543.  Started using it and discovered it has no power led or any other leds to indicate hard drive is working, etc.  No led whatsoever.  Dell Support Chat confirmed it does not have any leds!  Can anyone verify this?  Is this the trend to go to no led indicators?  I kind of like to know if power is on and computer is on.  What are others thoughts on this?
