Hello, I'm currently running on a dell xps 15 9530 with windows 8.1, which is less than a month old.
I've been getting crashes on my laptop (which is really supposed to be a premium-class laptop) and it had been driving me crazy, and saw that the issue was not being addressed fluently in the dell support page (sigh....).
It happens when I'm running games, which are mostly not too demanding, such as League of Legends.
While gaming, I would get a loud buzzing noise and a blue screen (BSOD) that says driver_irql_less_or_not_equal error, with igdkmd.64 (which i've read is an Intel HD graphics driver?) being the problem.
How do I fix this? Also, it is extremely frustrating that Dell has not been able to address this issue after this line of 'premium' laptop has been out for a year now.
Please help, and I appreciate your effort!
I had accidentally Deleted a Windows Partition (Because I had F'ed up installing Ubuntu [But currently have it installed]). But still have the recovery partition on my hard drive.
Is it possible to activate that recovery from Ubuntu. and if so how??
I have a Dell Inspirion 15-3537
I have a Amd Radeon 8850m, and recently amd released the new (14.12) omega drivers i installed them and i get this problem in Assassin's Creed Unity
[View:www.youtube.com/watch]
i get very much a performance boost out of them.
So my actual question is :
Will Dell release a version of the driver or can some one help me resolve this problem.
1. presume a normal first start into dell screen and then into windows.
2. then "restart" from inside windows is not a problem, the laptop will reboot easily!
3. BUT: if i shut off the laptop completely, and try to restart it within 10 minutes or less, all i get is 3 blue lights! these lights only come on after a minute or so, then one of them blinks, then they all stay on.....
4. eventually the lights go off, and i can start the laptop again! or, sometimes they just stay on and then i can eventually restart !
this is NOT about the RAM or the CPU or the CMOS battery or the power supply !! so don't go there please, those are all fine! and given that it often works fine i do not see a motherboard problem either??
5. while it is in that "blue light" situation, it seems even holding down the power button does not turn it off or stop it from doing whatever it is doing!
is there some "after shut off' process in the BIOS that i don't know about? or what is going on??
I power on the laptop and it immediately goes to a windows is loading files screen. After it is completed it freezes for a moment before loading the blue screen where the desktop icons would normally load. Except they don't. It freezes on the blue background screen. The warranty is up and I have valuable pictures etc.. On this computer from trips and whatnot. I would be beyond grateful for any assistance in resolving this issue.
Having error other application using webcam, but nothing is using it.
Can you help?
I have reinstalled the driver several times still same problem.
Ok so, I just got my Inspiron 14 for my birthday in March and Its died on me (I assume). It's still under warranty, but im not entirely sure how or where to send it to get it fixed. I still have the original box it came in as well and would love to get it fixed as soon as possible, but I would rather fix it myself if possible.
Upon starting the laptop, a black screen appears with the message, "No Boot Device Found. Press any key to reboot the machine". I ran a diagnostic and it said that the hard drive wasn't installed and that the CPU fan went out.
I removed the back of the laptop and checked the fan which seems to be running absolutely fine. I took the error code it produced and searched it on the website and it told me to download the latest BIOS but I can't because the laptop won't start up to where I can get on the internet.
Any help or information would be very much appreciated! Is this something I can fix myself, or would it be easier to just send it in to be fixed. If so, how should I go about it?
I continuously have to reset my wireless network adapter on my Inspiron 17R. This normally happens about 5-10 minutes after startup. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer
My dell inspiron 3537 has been showing this problem. When i press the power button on,
the display remains black though the fan and dvd writer works . this is followed by 7 beeps . The
First beep is loud and remaining 6 are short beeps. Beeping repeats untill i press the power button. Please help me. My laptop is only around 6 months old.
I'm having a network card problem with my xps 14z. It says I have network connectivity, but it is unable to do anything on the network. The wireless works just fine. I run the Atheros ar8151 diagnostic. Everthing passes until the last step. that one says "Data Transfer Verification Test -- No Connection". It doesn't give any clue to what the problem is Is there some way I can find out exactly what the problem is?
Please tell me how to install Dell 1704 or Dell 1705 Wireless driver in my Dell Inspiron 5537. I always get trouble everytime I try to install them. My screenshots :
when I install 1705 driver
when I install 1704 driver
I've tried to turn off and turn on Bluetooth again in PC setting but it doesn't work. I'm looking forward to see your answers. Thank you !
when i work work more than 1 hour bad burning smell starts coming form the Fan , but laptop is functioning normal so what is the reason ? in 15RN5110
I have a faulty motherboard with charging circuit damaged. Laptop boots and runs perfectly but if i remove it from AC power source, it switches off which means i always need to be connected to AC power source to run the laptop.
I am trying to restore Windows from backup but at one point of time, it declares that " Laptop is running on battery and i should connect to AC power source for installation to proceed". This is incorrect as laptop is already plugged in.
Is there any setting in BIOS or in some other place where i can disable power source check during installation ?
Hi,
I have a E5540 and was wanting to upgrade to a backlit keyboard. Is it possible? Where can I get the new keyboard? Do I need a BIOS upgrade?
Thanks,

hi
my Inspiron 15 laptop wont boot (90 year old grandfather playing stupid with 12 year old son with water bottle).I checked the motherboard and its stuffed. Its only 9 months old. bought a new inspiron 15 with a slower chip, smaller drive and less RAM. I had intended to swap the hard drive from the "old" laptop (1TB windows 7) with the "new" hard drive (500GB Windows 8.1 ). I dislike windows 8. All my stuff is on the superior HD. I have done this sort of thing before.
SO: why do i get a message saying "no hard drive installed. please reseat the hard hard drive".
its not the drive.
please help with something more than put up with it, or windows 8.1 is awesome. trying to achieve a certain result
Hello!
I am unable to find information about this on the internet and I would be happy if someone here can help me.
What is the purpose of this two circled things (1. and 2. ) on Dell Inspiron 5721 laptop?

Hi, I need help getting the password for a Dell N5110. A friend of mine was having display problems so we tried resetting factory defaults and now we are completely locked out of using the computer.
I read on some previous posts of DELL users saying message me the details, with proof of ownership however the posts were a little dated, is this still a viable option, and in which case who do I need to message?

The left side usb port appears to have fallen into the laptop case. It is rattling around, visible and does not appear to be connected to anything. Is this a common problem? Is it worth fixing?
