I have replaced my dell vostro 3450 laptop battery which was 6cell now with 9cell battery(90W). Do I need to change the charger or my current charger will do fine? I don't want this to burst during charging or have any adverse effect on battery.
Does battery type change requires to change charger as well?

Dell Inspiron 1520 start up rescue
Hi .. When I start my laptop it won't go beyond start up rescue .. The rescue scan find no problems and neither does the memory scan however it has stated there is an unknown error ... Any ideas as to what to do with this? Thanks for any help you can provide .. I tunes and photos at risk ?

Both Touchpad Buttons stopped working on Inspiron 17 / 7000 Series / 7737
Hello All,
I'm trying to find out how to fix an issue. The touchpad on my Inspiron 17 works great in all aspects EXCEPT the Left/Right Buttons no longer work. Everything was fine until about 3 weeks ago but they just stopped working. I can't say that it occurred specifically in conjunction with a Windows Update, but that seems like a definite possibility.
64 Bit machine on Windows 8. I have uninstalled and deleted the drivers, reinstalled, updated drivers, and tried to use Dell Online Diagnostics, all to no avail.
Any other ideas or specific advice would be appreciated.

WM713 Bluetooth Mouse woes
I have recently purchased a new Inspiron 7737 laptop and was tempted to select the WM713 bluetooth mouse as an accessory at the time of purchase. I chose it because it looked like a good modern design and promised to support new Windows 8 way of doing things.
Initially all worked perfectly, the mouse paired up with the laptop with no difficulty and I was just getting getting to grips with the Win8 gestures supported on the mouse.
It was less than an hour before the mouse simply stopped working without warning or error. I attempted to pair them again but the laptop simply refused to detect any bluetooth devices.
Contacted Dell support and was advised to install the latest version of the WM713 software and then to follow the instructions for pairing. No difference.
I was then sent a replacement mouse by Dell support. Initially this paired without any problems and then after a short while (less than an hour) suddenly stopped again in exactly the same way.
Has anyone else been able to use this mouse successfully? Or used a different bluetooth mouse with this laptop?
There are articles about checking bluetooth power saving options, setting bluetooth services to automatic, reinstalling the bluetooth drivers and I have tried all of these. Attempted to pair with another laptop too which did not work.
Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated as I really like the mouse and do not want to give up and throw it away just yet.

installing windows 7 on Inspiron after installing a new hard drive
My hard drive failed on my Inspiron 14z laptop. I ordered an exact replacement and installed it. The computer was purchased 2 1/2 years ago, and I downloaded the operating system on 4 DVDs per Dell instructions.
After installing the new hard drive, I am downloading the 1st DVD. I come to a page that asks me to either click on "Restore my computer" or "Factory Recovery - Deletes data & resets all partitions". I click on Factory Recovery, hit next, and a new page comes up saying this application will recover your drive to the factory condition. "Do you confirm?" I click "yes", hit next, and I get yellow triangle with an explanation mark inside and it says "Your hard drive size is not supported for this process. Please use a hard drive at least GB in size.

Inspiron 17 user profile trouble
I am still not able to use my laptop as the thing won't or can't load user profile, all I get is the message user profile service failed the logon. I ran the F12 at start up and performed the extended diagnostic test which tells me everything is just peachy. PLEASE HELP THIS WRETCHED SOUL!! Thanks in advance.

Studio XPS 1640 won't start
Hi,
My studio xps 1640 was working great until last night, and when I plugged it in it was taking a charge as usual but when I pressed the power button the battery lights blinked two or three times and then stopped. Now this morning i tested it to see if the battery was the issue but it didn't make any difference, and now when I plug it in or press the power button the battery lights don't do anything anymore. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what might be wrong?

I recognize some of this data is superfluous although I really don't know what is necessary so I have likely left too much in there.
Power Supply is 90W AC
I did not originally intend to game on the computer, but now aim to. The GPU is below the standard of most recent top end games and I'd like to upgrade it. I've read that this is difficult due to the card being attached to the motherboard but I'd still like to know my options here.
What can I do to upgrade the GPU, (needs to be at least Nvidia GE Force GTX 680 standard) how much would it cost (approx) and how would I go about doing that?

Operating system re installation
Dell Inspiron reinstallation from DVD- press F12 after start, select from DVD, drive starts to hum but computer boots up windows. The reinstall does not proceed. Any suggestions? The Dell data safe restore is not on screen at F8 so I am trying the F12 from the reinstall DVD but cannot restore my computer. Any other ideas?

4 beeps after installing new motherboard
I just installed a refurbished motherboard in my N5010 laptop which had died completely (no lights, no response whatsoever when power button pressed). The replacement motherboard brought the laptop back to life only in that now the power button lights up as well as the left indicator light. However after seconds of start up, the fan kicks on high and the laptop beeps 4 times repeatedly until I turn it off. (The screen stays black.) I understand the 4 beeps is supposed to indicate the RAM is not recognized, but both cards are installed properly. I tried swapping the RAM cards, only using one at a time, but nothing I do gets rid of the 4 beeps. The laptop remains unusable. Is it likely that Dell shipped me a defective motherboard? I appreciate any help anyone could give me.

Adding 4G memory on top of 2G on Inspiron 3250 shows only 4G
Inspiron 3250, Windows 8.1 64 Bit. Celeron B820 1.70Ghz processor.
Laptop came with 2G ram. Specs indicate max memory on this machine is 8Gig.
I purchased a 4G ddr3 card, as the guy at the electronics shop, after looking it up, said that I did not have to have both cards be the same size, so adding 4G on top of 2G will work.
System now shows only 4G, with 6G installed.
Bios setup max memory option is not checked, though if I check it, I can only select 4G
Is it true that both cards have to be the same size? Or is this machine actually limited to 4G?
BIOS is current, diagnostics report no errors. Windows 8.1 with all current updates installed.

XPS 14Z laptop getting extremely hot and running slow, please help
Hi All, for the past week my Dell XPS 14Z has been getting extremely hot and the fan has been loud. The laptop also seems to be running very slow. No virus and we haven't downloaded any large files. My Inspiron is not recognizing its own battery
My Inspiron 11 (3000 Series) is not recogning its own battery. its not even turning on unless I have it plugged in (I checked it on two separate cords). I've checked it in the utility boot, and the battery is registered as unrecognized.

Mouse automatically scrolls using PS/2 to USB convertor.
Hi, I am using the below product Dell Inspiron 15 (N5010, Early 2010)
This is to inform that I am using PS/2 port to USB port convertor. I am trying to connect both mouse and keyboard (PS / 2 port) in that only keyboard is working fine.
Issue is mouse scroller functions automatically. Without end-users functionality the scroller moves up and down automatically and mouse movement is not functions properly. Please assist me in this regards by providing your solution for this issue.
