I have a Dell Inspiron 3521 laptop.
I know I can single boot using F12, and choose to boot from a USB, but one day I may need to boot direct from a USB without having access to F12.
So I want to change the boot order to enable me to automatically boot from a USB first, if one is present.
Is this possible, and if so, how do I do it?

Can I increase the memory in my Inspiron 15 M5040 laptop?
It came with 3 GB of DRAM 2GB in one slot 1 GB in the other,
At minimum I want to switch out the 1 GB & replace with 2GB. Is this OK?
how about increasing both slots to 3GB each or even 4GB each?

Recently I decided to take my machine back to factory defaults. After using the recovery partition my machine went blank, booted and has since come back with "no bootable device" uh-oh. went into bios and the drive cannot be seen in the boot options, also did a diagnostic run and the device again is not reporting back. Any ideas on how to fix this would be great.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 running windows vista. Yesterday I installed a program called recuva to recover my deleted photos. After the scan my computer turned off and won't boot up now at all. I tried F2, F8,F12 and it won't boot up. Any suggestions or help

So yesterday evening I was happily on the internet when my computer went to a blue screen, that said something along the lines of "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer."
Unfortunately I did not manage to get much more than that because my laptop then reset.
I ran a Diagnostic (pressing F12 after restarting my laptop) and it came up that I had a memory problem, Error Code 2000-0123.
I ran a system check via "My Dell" and another error about memory came up from Windows Diagnostic "Your computer has a memory problem. Memory problems can cause your computer to lose information or stop working. To identify and repair the problem contact the computer manufacturer."
(Once I am finished here I will email this message to Dell support as well.)
Does anyone know what this problem is and how to fix it? Please help.

So I want to upgrade the hardware on my Inspiron M5010 laptop. I'm considering going up to 8gb of ram from 4gb of ram but my friends been telling me it be useless due to my current processor which is AMD Phenom II p920 Quad core processor 1.60GHz .
Anyone know what be an nice upgrade for me? What I manage to find was that people say AMD Phenom II X4 X920 is the fastest one my laptop will support only problem is it seem to be insanely hard to find and only see used one so it it worth getting used ones? any ideas?
Also if some one can tell me what type of ram will fit on my laptop it would be nice too, thank you =D
I have a Dell n5010 laptop.... sometimes I have seen that laptop is getting shutdown automatically after 5-6 minutes of powered on. Lots of internet search I came to know about HWiNFO software which shows cpu temperature and fan speed.... I have seen sometimes cpu gets heated up but the fan is not started yet causing overheat issue.. so as shutting down the system... my bios is up to date as per dell website latest bios driver version A15... I am sensing that that the thermal sensor may be not working properly always... Please note down not always it is happening sometimes it is happening... any solution ???
Laptop won't power up on battery, when a/c adaptor is connected, message on screen says 'battery ca harming temporarily disabled' Laptop won't boot at all. Have run diagnostics and everything passed ok. Where to next?

I have a slow, ailing Inspiron 1750. Out of Warranty, Second Hand sale
The machine is running extremely hot with CPU temps at between 85C and 100C [HWinfo] with the fan coming within 4 minutes of the machine being on even at idle.
Performance is slow and sluggish with streaming TV services and video playback (Standard Definition) the most noticeable with a lag to most basic functions (starting web browser etc...)
However the machine shows no sign of crashing or BSOD and hitting those temps the machine is not shutting down.
Any tips on handling the troubleshooting?
I have the Latitude D630 Laptop on windows 7 professional. All I want is for the fingerprint reading device to work. It says I "have no management application installed". Anyone....?
I have an old Dell d510 laptop <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy> and had to reinstall the operating system. The laptop has no connection with the internet now. Device manager shows "other devices" containing Ethernet controller, multimedia audio controller, PCI modem, video controller and video controller (VGA) are missing drivers (see attachment).
I went to the Dell website and downloaded only the chipset (first) and network drivers (later) you recommended. I ran them from the usb stick and files were unzipped in C:\dell\drivers\ I rebooted the computer after the chipset and again after the network drivers. They seemed to unzip and run the install properly. I tried reinstalling driver button from system devices menu and clicking on Ethernet controller and the hardware wizard started. I chose the directory where the files were unzipped and it couldn't find a driver. A few of these unzipped folders had setup.exe files. Some of the installs went well, some failed. The ones that failed had a regular DOS icon. I double clicked the file and the screen went black (dos screen) for a split second, and back to "my computer". One time I got a message there was no file in a certain location. Explorer says it exists. The driver wizard cannot find any compatible drivers.
Some download sites want to scan my computer first but of course I need the driver to connect and run the scan - big help. The names used and lack of descriptions for the drivers leaves me helpless. Some are simple and only have one file for that component. One says "application" and it has 3 files. What application? Networking has 8 files to choose from. I read someone could find a driver using a device driver number and goggling > pci\ven_8086&dev_266e&subsys_01af1028&rev_03\3&61aaa01&0&f2 I tried the PRO/wireless file and it started normally unzipping files to C:\dell\drivers then stopped with the message "This self-extracting zip file is part of a multidisk zip file. Please insert the last disk of the set." Then "An error occurred while unzipping. One or more files were not successfully unzipped. the error code is 110." Device manager did not change. What and where are the drivers I need for the old Dell? I have tried most of the drivers Dell has available for that computer.

hi. just last night i was using my laptop. and when i woke up the next day, i was about to use again but when i turned it on, it would'nt even display anything and keeps beeping 2 times continuously. is this a problem with my RAM? please help me. the screen does not even light up. i just hear 2 beeps that goes on and on.
