Hello folks.

I have had this laptop for a while.  I found some forum posts about a problem from when I first bought this laptop, and I had resolved that problem by uninstalling the Dell provided Cypress drivers.

Recently, I found that there were newer drivers available from Dell.  Specifically, the newer drivers were released on April 10, 2014.  I installed them.

The drivers enable a number of nice features on this touchpad, including pinch to zoom, rotate and multitouch, but then the touchpad also suddenly stops working.  

Once I restart my laptop, it works once again, but then it'll stop working as suddenly as the first time.

I haven't figured out why it does this.  There's no indication of a failure or any indication of it turning itself off.

The driver I installed is Dell Touchpad Driver - Version 2.5.3.65, A07.  Below is the tray indicator, but it seems fine, even though the touchpad is presently not working.

Below is the Dell application and I've already tried turning it off and on, with no effect.

Below is a screenshot of my device manager, and it shows three devices.  One of them is my bluetooth mouse that I was not using earlier, but once the touchpad became unresponsive, I had to.

Below is the cypress driver info.

Does anyone have any clues on how to re-enable the touchpad once it stops working?  None of the methods I've tried so far works, and I have to restart my laptop to get the touchpad back.

Our company just purchased 10 identical laptops. Do I need to make a set of recovery disks for each one, or can I use the same image for all of them? Is the service tag part of the image? What is the best way to handle this?

Hello,

I find the same problem as well. My Inspiron 15 7000 series screen flickers every now and then. Recently the screen flash in full blast of light out of sudden that put me into sudden shocks a few times. Anyone have solutions for this?

Hello, I have a dell inspiron n5050 that was working perfectly until yesterday. When I tried to turn it on no sound came from the computer nor did the screen start up. The only light on in the indicator lights for the battery and power sign on the front. Which are dim whenever the battery or ac cord is attached. I did the hold power button with ac and battery out with no success. I left the battery and ac cord out the computer over night and it worked this morning but unfortunaly my son closed it and now its not cutting on again but the indicator lights are on but dim.

I have a Dell Studio 14" laptop with 6 cell battery (model - U597P). Now I started getting the battery not charging when pluged in. My battery is almost dead.

Planning to buy a 9 cell battery.

1) Will my laptop model support 9 cell

2) is my existing 6 cell charger work with 9 cell battery (properly)

3) will the 9 cell battery fit properly in my current laptop model.

4) any other limitation.

Hello.

I have a problem with system recovery on Dell XPS L521X.
Unfortunately I tried to reinstall my Windows using DVD. Now I have many problems with my XPS so I decided to recover system from recovery partition, but I can't do it using Dell Backup and Recovery. After restarting system there is no Recover option.
MBR was overwritten and now I can't recover my system from recovery partition.

Can you provide me any scenario which can help me?

Hi there. I'm having problems with my Studio 1535. I'm using Vista and have the latest Bios. When my laptop boots up I get the dreaded blue screen of death.

The error message says:

"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

Then "REGISTRY ERROR" and the code: STOP 0x00000051, (0x00000001, 0x88A24008, 0x11DF000,0x00000368).

After running a diagnostic test it turns out my fan speed is in incorrect with the error code 3700. Also something is wrong with my AC adapter, but that should be fine because my battery works normally.  

How do I solve the fan issue and will this fix the Blue Screen error?

hello,

my tablet (dell latitude 10 st2e) began to power off couple of weeks ago first when I inserted the sd card then whenever I plug in something to the usb port. Now sometimes it powers off when I plug in an usb device and sometimes it doesn't, but the biggest problem is that the device powers off when its moved in some way (so far I've come to the conclusion that it happens when its quickly moved or put on the table without special care). 

I've completed the Dell diagnostics and everything is fine.

Dear colleagues, 

I have experienced this difficult situation where my laptop (Dell N5010) just stopped working properly, in other words, when I turn on my laptop nothing but 8 beeps.

So it seems that some problem with the display. What were my steps (it is out of warranty):

1) Tried to run the screen test, it looks like the colors show up, but there is no back-light so you can barely see them.

2) Connected to external monitor, load up to windows logo, then stops and blue screen pops up ("failed to reset display drivers"). 

3) Ran on safe-mode. Got it to load up. So it works on external monitor on safe-mode, but still nothing on the laptop display.

4) Then tried to update BIOS (mine is old), got: "Error: unable to load driver).

5) Tried to check the graphic card driver. Similar error when trying to update it.

6) Opened up to check if the cables aren't lose or some parts burned. Everything seemed all right. Tried to reset the cables - still nothing.

Are there any additional steps I should take? It might be the hard-drive issue, but what's also interesting to me - why I cannot get my bios updated?

Please help.

Hi,

I was facing this issue "Plugged in, not charging" for sometime though the laptop was working fine as long as power cord is connected.

But now my laptop is completely dead, it won't even power on with adapter connected. I see the battery light on my laptop blinks with 4 orange, 1 white light when i connect the power adapter.

What could be the issue?

Drive: Optiarc  DVDRWBD BC-5540H

I can't change the region code on drive because i've used my 5 changes. I stil have 4 manufactor changes. Is there anyway i can reset the user changes on the drive?

I replaced the fan in my and I noticed that from the fan to the CPU there was a buzzing/humming between the fan through the heat sink to the cpu. The fan is anchored down properly.

I've looked at everything and i'm still at a loss on what the issue is.

My husband purchase the Dell computer for my daughter for college. Right after the warranty expired we started getting the 7 beeps. We have taken it to different places to repair it. I found out that this is a known problem for Dell.

We just need to get it repaired. Was going to purchase another one but don't want to run into the same problem.

So I was at school today listening to music in class and my laptop was about to die and then the bell rang. I walked to my next class and by the time I had gotten there my laptop had died. Upon turning it on it went through the boot process and eventually made it to the Welcome screen and when it should have gone to my log in in screen it went black (with the mouse still functional). I went into safe mode and it did work just fine.

Seeing that safe mode had worked my worriness lowered some. Upon searching for an answer I found someone saying to run diagnostics and that is where i got the 2000-0146 error code. Upon searching or this I got scared. I can't replace the hard drive preferably. 

What bothers me is that I can run everything in safe mode perfectly fine. I went on google chrome and looked up drivers and then downloaded/installed ones people were talking about. While waiting for the registartion to this forum to complete i booted into low resolution mode or whatever under advanced boot options on start up and it did do the black screen but only for a few minutes and I am on my desktop. This is the furthest I've gotten outside of safe mode. clicking the start button and all is very laggy tho. 

Sorry for any spelling errors but I would really appreciate some help and hopefully an answer that isnt "Buy a new hdd"

EDIT: When i got in using the low resolution option I lowered (technically raised it since i was in low resolution but lowered compared to before the issue) and now starting up is fine except the black screen hangs some still and it seems it just skips the login screen (although I have no password). I tried closing it and re-opening it to see if it would do the log in screen and only got a black screen and an error sound and had to re-boot.

Hi there,

Like the subject says, whenever the ethernet cable is plugged in, the wifi adapter disconnects and the wifi active light above the keyboard goes out. As soon as I remove the ethernet cable, the wifi light comes back on and the wifi connect re-connects.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what is controlling this? I've looked at the driver properties for both the LAN and wifi adapters and in the BIOS and I can't seem to locate where to turn this 'feature' off.

I reloaded XP on my son's little laptop, and afterwords realized that I don't have any network drivers.  I logged on to the main website here, and did not find any.  Where is the best place to get them from?

Does anyone's 3147 (N3530) get hot? I use it while sitting on my lap and though at first the heat didn't bother me, but now its seems bothersome. I upgraded the machine to Crucial Ballistix 8GB 204-Pin DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800), 1.35v Laptop Memory and a 250 EVO SSD. I check the temps with HWMonitor and the hottest I've seen anything get to is 67 degrees Celsius. Everything is normally in the high 50s.

Has anyone done a thermal re paste? I do have some IC Diamond laying around. Not sure if it would make a difference.

Video stream shuttering happens quite a bit. Any suggestions?

And does anyone else have issues with getting the bottom cover flush when putting back on (by the power button)? The corner seems to protrude a little.
