I am a proudly owner of an alienware m18x.
Unfortunately, i had to change one video card, recently.
After installation of new video card, my laptop worked perfectly.
Except for the charging battery: it is connected, but not in charge.
If i try to swotch to integrated videocard, battery charge starts.
How can i fix it?

I need help with my dell laptop. I can turn it on, but - besides taking a long time to load (about 5 min) - it goes to a blue screen (the one with leaves and a white bird) and nothing else happens. I can still move the mouse, but there's nothing going on besides a moving mouse.
I've already tried hitting f8 when the computer is starting, but it's not working - nothing happens. I've also tried running a diagnosis and it says nothing is wrong with the computer. So why is it not working???
Does anyone have any ideas? Help!!
i just got a 15 7000 inspiron and the screen flickers even when its charging.
when i open the lid it doesnt awake, i even change the settings not go in sleep mode when i close the lid and it does the same thing.
the laptop is a few hours old...

My dell Inspiron Laptop has been observed to be crashing suddenly and making a buzzing sound with a blank bule/green screen.
A similar issue has been observed in the link below but here the issue was limited to some drivers; For me force shutdown is the only option left to get rid of the buzzing sound.

I was having problems with my audio driver and went to uninstall it and reinstall it and when I shut down the computer after uninstalling it and took out the batter and unplugged the AC and pressed the power button for 30 seconds, it wouldn't turn on after. Power button lights up as well as the button in the upper right corner (settings, etc) light up and the DVD drive is on but the computer doesn't start up at all. HELP!!! I really hope it isn't my motherboard. The laptop is 2 years old and have had problems with it for various reasons since I got it. I can't afford to replace the motherboard at all.

Charger working perfectly. But, light indicator on the charger is OFF when i plug the charger into my dell laptop. and also Laptop won't turn ON, no light's etc.,
I checked my charger to use on other laptops. Its works very fine.
I borrowed my friends charger and plug it into my laptop, same result happening (charger LED light OFF, and laptop won't turn on)
i thing, May be problem in reverse voltage or motherboard. But, i,m not sure about this.

My Inspiron 1720 laptop got a liquid spilled on it. Now, it will not boot. When I press the power button, the power light comes on, the NumLock light is solid blue, the CapsLock light flashes blue for 45 sends, and the ScrollLock light is solid blue. After 45 seconds, the laptop powers off.
I have reset all the CRU's and the issues remains.
I am supposing that the motherboard got damaged when the liquid was spilled on it.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what the flashing CapsLock light means? I cannot find anything about any beep codes or flashing light sequences for this laptop.
I'm a musician based in the UK and as an adjunct to my main studio DAW PC I've been using the family laptop, an XPS L702X, to run a cut down DAW to help organise things when I'm away recording in unfamiliar studios. I have a brand new Seagate SSHD ready to replace it with but here's where I started to hit problems.
I originally wanted to use Acronis True Image 2014 to create a "Disk and Partition" image back-up of
the drive (OS and Recovery) so that I wouldn't have to reinstall all my software let alone the OS.
Unfortunately, every time I run it I get various iterations of the same error message:
Failed to read data from the disk.
Failed to read from sector '893,133,512' of hard disk '4'. Try to repeat the operation.
If the error persists, check the disk using Check Disk Utility and create a backup of the disk.
Failed to read the snapshot. (0x10C45A) CRC error. (0x100155)
As I've already tried fixing it and I know the HDD has died I guess this isn't too surprising.
A friend suggested creating my own partition on the new SSHD and to use Acronis's File Back up
function to create a .tib file of the OS and the Recovery files to copy over to the new drive using an Acronis
Boot CD but suffice to say that didn't work.
So, I'm now at the point where I'm resigned to starting afresh - I've got an Inateck USB 3.0 to IDE+SATA
Converter so I've plugged the corrupt OEM HDD into my PC to rescue all the important files I didn't want
to lose so at least that's something. However, what I don't know is how I'd go about putting the Windows 7
OS onto this new SSHD. Stupidly I never created a backup using the Dell DataSafe software so is it even
possible to somehow use the Recovery partition to install the OS onto this new drive (I'm assuming that all
the OS info is stored in the Recovery partition?) or will it be a case of seeing if Dell can supply me with
some discs to install the OS from (if they'll even do that?)?
If anyone could advise how best to proceed it would be very much appreciated as I have to admit that at this
point I'm pretty flummoxed.

upgraded from win 7 to win 8 as part of Dell offer
worked for some time after upgrade but now will no longer boot
When you press the power button the system begins to boot, you see the DELL logo with F2 and F12 options, both of which work fine. I have run a complete diagnostic from the F12 options and no errors or problems are reported.
If you don't press F2 or F12 on the Dell logo screen, after a short moment that screen turns to a completely black screen and the computer locks at that point with nothing but a fast continuous beep with no breaks that never ends.
If anyone else has had experience with this or could help I would really appreciate it.

I got my Precision M4800 and I'm really about it.
But! I dislike the touchpad for one reason : No option to enable one-finger scroll. I'm kinda "old school" with touchpad and I don't like using my the two-fingers scroll and all the "fancy " features and the touchpad software don't have this specific feature.
I tried the old driver version (7.0), but it's not compatible with Windows 8.1.
I can see a lot of values in the regedit ( HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Alps and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Alps ) but I don't know which one it can be,
Do you know if a generic ALPS drivers exist? Do you have a solution for this issue?

My system is DELL Inspiron 15z 5523 Intel Core i7-5537U 2.00GHz CPU
had the Intel HD Graphics 4000 version 10.18.10.3277 from DELL and nVIDIA GeForce GT 630M they installed very fine on Windows 10 Preview.
However, when I suddenly tried the PS2 emulator "pcsx2" the FPS drops down while in game and scenes.
Because of that I switched between Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 Tech Preview for re-checking. The FPS doesn't drop down on Windows 8.1 but it does in 10 Preview.
So is that a Windows issue because it is still Preview? Graphics driver somewhat still isn't compatible with this Windows or even issue with compatibility issue with pcsx2 and Widows 10 Preview?
Please tell me because I like the use of Windows 10 better than Windows 8.1
Is that related to the nVIDIA GeForce GT 630M driver that needs to be updated to work really with Windows 10 on Inspiron 15z?
Please heeelp me I like this new Windows so much because it's a compensate for Windows 7 I used to install Windows 7 but my laptop always refused..
Please help me this is the last laptop I am going to use now.. Does that mean this i7 DELL laptop will not be able to run pcsx2 with Windows 10? but what the operating system has to do with the CPU can't run pcsx2 fine where it can run it just fast and excellent with Windows 8.1?
I have a Dell Latutude E6540 I got as a refurb 2 months ago, and I have had some sort of issue, and I'd like to know what caused it
Earlier today, I was letting my E6540 sit idle and from what I could see from the power lights it was on since the Wireless light was on and that's normally off in sleep where it does a RAM dump. I also set my laptop to do a RAM sleep since I can't find any way to turn this off, and then if it sits long enough it will do a hard disk snapshot and save my session to my hard drive.
Well, when the laptop was idle it decided to shut off randomly, and I do believe it was on since the Wireless light was on last time I checked it then. I rebooted it and it was fine. I also use a mouse I got from a desktop that wasn't wanted on this laptop at my desk. I have since swapped out this mouse.
In the meantime, what else can I check on my machine to see if it was caused by my mouse or if it's something more severe. I don't have much detail beyond this right now, since I just had this problem. If I see this happen again, I will update this post.

I replaced the cpu fan because the machine seemed to be overheating, turning off after about 5 minutes on. I noticed the cpu fan was not spinning, so I assumed the cpu fan had to be replaced. Now that I installed and plugged in a new replacement cpu fan I can see the blades are still not spinning. Isn't this cpu fan supposed to start spinning as soon as I turn the laptop on?
Any suggestions?

I have a Dell Inspiron 15R 5537, it's completely unusable. I have windows 8 installed factory install with drivers a few programs installed. It's clean as a whisle, I ran an AVG and Malwarebytes scan and it has absolutely no viruses, malware, trojans, ect. It takes about 5 minutes from off to actually being logged in and able to start a program. Once you have gotten in is where it is terrible a laptop that is new in late winter 2013 that has 6 gigs of ram and great processor can't handle chrome with two tabs open and word running at the same time without it feeling like i'm running windows xp with a 512mb of ram. What should I do? My friend has a version a few years older and It can run windows 8 flawlessly and its got 4gb of ram and a i3 compared to mine which runs with an i5.
I bought at brand new Dell Inspiron 17 laptop in March of this year. Last week, my daughter spilled some coffee on the keyboard. We removed it and cleaned it up the best we could. It didn't work, so we let it dry overnight and sprayed some compressed air on it. It still didn't work. So we ordered a new keyboard and that doesn't work either. Is there anything we can do at home to fix it?
Hi, after being connected to a hotel's wifi system, I shut down my laptop to go to sleep. The laptop definitely shut down. I woke up around 4 am to the light of my laptop screen being on.
Should I be concerned?
Are there any logs on my laptop that I should review?
I've already updated Windows update and run my Norton Internet Security scan. Could someone have stolen data from my files by booting my laptop somehow and hacking it???
Hi. I just received the laptop today. It's the Inspiron 15 7537 touch. When I turn it on, the laptop screen is flickering on and off when the dell logo appears. Then the laptop screen goes black. The laptop does not turn off, the screen just goes dark. I tried holding the letter "D" and clicking the power botton and the colors show up without the screen flickering but once the test is over, it does it again. I also tried holding Fn and the power botton but the screen keeps flickering and then it goes black and I can't do anything with it. I tried removing the battery for a few seconds and turning the laptop on again and that didn't work. This started happening after I mistakenly turned off the laptop by hitting the power botton instead of turning it off properly.
Is there a way that I can fix this problem without having to send it to dell for repair and wait a week to get it back? What other tests can I do to see if the laptop screen will work? I appreciate any help
I bought a brand new Dell Inspiron 7537 laptop in june of this year. Yesterday while i was using my laptop it shut down for no reason and when i have powered it on again, my keyboard keys were not functioning properly for example the d key was working as page up and E key as end. I have the same issue for C,L,P,6,7,4 keys but all other keys are working properly.i used a USB keyboard and it was working properly. Is there anything we can do at to fix it?
I have not been able to use my dell 1525 inspiron for 3 years now.
While under warranty, my dell (as im seeing hundreds of others have experienced this) had its mother replaced MULTIPLE times, as this repeated issue, keeps occurring.
So far my motherboard, battery, power adapter, screen, and eventually almost every part inside my laptop all replaced by dell technicians. I have had my laptop re-assembled IMPROPERLY to the point where my laptop head is cracked, the top cant close without coming completely apart, the pieces are incompletely mis-aligned, when a dell technician came to "fix" my laptop (and this is still a problem thanks to your unexperienced technicians).
Backdrop of what i have dealt with with dell's HORRIBLE service.
I purchased this computer to use in college. Right before graduating my laptop completely breaks on me ONCE AGAIN for the same issue. When calling about this, i found out my warranty had expired over the night, leave it to dell for their computer to break the very next morning it is technically out of warranty. I was then told it would cost my nearly $300 for a mother board and over $500+ do get the motherboard AND have it installed by dell. In which another almost $300 would be charged for a new warranty. I paid almost that total to purchase my laptop, why pay over $1100+ to fix 1 issue???!!!
Except on top of completely dying, my screen went BLUE this time.
Issues:
1. Screen went blue, computer will not boot at all.
2. In order for ANYTHING to happen with my laptop my charger HAD to be plugged into the computer WITH the battery, it will not do anything without the charger plugged in with the battery.
4. By ANYTHING i mean just the battery light blinking a SLOW blue light.... It used to have 4 amber blinking lights, and 1 solid blue, then it was 1 solid blue, not it is a slow very rare blinking blue battery light.
5. The keyboard lights do not light up either, nor does the fan start, or any noise, nor does the computer.
6. Which leads to the obvious the computer is not booting up, the screen stays off/completely black.
7. I have tried it all, dont ask. The take the charger out, battery out hold the power button, check to make sure everything is seated properly, check the ram, take the ram out, 1 ram, both, none, nothing works.
8. This was a BRAND new battery when this occurred.
9. Its been almost 3 years of not being able to use this
And from what i can see online, hundreds of people have had this issue, so much several posts focus on people complaining to the *** and discussing a class action lawsuit at the time. What i have also found out is that dell 1525s have an unshielded wire that attracts electricity in the computer, and tends to short and fry the motherboard, because of what is essentially wrong wire installation causing this.
Ive ordered a new cr2032 battery as of tonight.
NO, no proper diagnostic tests have been ran by dell, and clearly cant be ran since i cant even start the computer.
So, my question, do i buy a new motherboard, making this my.... 3rd, 4th, 5th? Ive lost count. Im assuming from ebay, and see if i can fix it that way?
Has ANYONE had this issue? Maybe it isn't even the motherboard, maybe its the hard drive, dell doesn't seem to know.
I need to find out what is causing this issue, so that i can save up, but the piece, and fix it, as im starting work and school soon, and i need this computer, and all my documents on it.
