So I own an Alienware M14x R1. Awhile back my lighting effects stopped working. By that I mean nothing worked, keyboard lights, power light, touchpad light - nothing.I think it was because I swiped my hardrive and when I reinstalled everything I went to an older version of Command Center, which I've heard ruins it.. Recently my hardrive went bad so I took the opportunity to switch out the hardrive and the motherboard.
When I booted everything up my whole system works brilliantly except for the lighting effects. The power light is working now and the far right quadrant of the keyboard works. Along with that when I'm starting the computer the middle right quadrant of the keyboard flickers on and off until you I get to the log in screen, where it just turns off. The wifi light doesn't work, nor the touchpad light nor the front lights.
The icon for Command Center stays red and when you click on it there is no laptop displayed. If you try to load one of the profiles an error message reading "The theme you are opening is not compatible with this computer. You will not be able to apply the theme". When you click ok another message pops up reading "The device you have selected is included in the current theme but AlienFX cannot detect this device on your system. Do you want to remove this device from the current theme". If you click Yes it removes the theme and No brings up the display of the laptop but you can't Apply it.
I've tried the thing where you unplug the AC adaptor, unplug the battery, hold the power button for 30 seconds and reverse the process.
I ran the Alienware AlienFX Tester. At the top under Board Information it says there is No board detected and if you try a test it reads "It seems there is some problem with the AlienFX board.
I ran a diagnostic and everything came back working, although I didn't see one to test the MIO-Board specifically.
I also followed this: http://www.dell.com/support/Article/us/en/19/536385/EN The odd thing with that is the files that should exist under step 13 didn't exist and also the ones in the similar location in step 15. Even after I followed all of those steps the files still don't exist.
Anyone have any ideas? Am I so unlucky that I got another bad motherboard or what? Thanks in advance for the help, and sorry about the long post, I've just been working on it for awhile now
