I have a latitude E4300- I was given this and the computer was completely wiped. Now it tells me it will not boot, I put a windows 7 disc in but it did nothing...what can I do to load a new operating system? I do not have any of the original disks.
Sir i am a proud owner of Dell inspiron 5010 from india, which was working like a charm till last night. One of my room mate was using my system , and he i dont know accidentally or in fun just reset my bios. Now when i turn on my laptop it shows a complete black screen with a blue bios login password box stating "Enter system password". I dont know how he done that because i have protected my bios settings using a password(my be he come to know my password of bios anyhow) but that password was not working there now.
The system when powered on shows the Dell icon giving an option to press F2 and F12 to enter bios setting and change boot order but that is also asking for password .
I dont know how to work around this, after alot of seach on the internet i found a site stating to provide master password at cost of around 35$ and other option is resting bios using battery stuff but thats need to be a bit technical stuff.
I thought may be i can be lucky here coz if i take my system to a local vender he was charging alot as well as giving a indication that may be my hard drive get wiped in this process. Pls help me out as i cant lose my data. Pls help me.

I recently re installed my Dell Precision M4800 laptop. In the device manager there is a driver not installed " Broadcom USH" I already searched for it, and there is one : Dell ControlPoint Security Device Driver Pack, but this device is not (yet) supported. Is there a way to fix this? I did not get any recovery cd with my pc, only a few drivers, not this one.

I have a Dell Latitude D830 which I got second hand. I have a clean install of XP Home Ed.
I am trying to sync my ltop to connect thru a Netgear WPN824v3 router with SBC GLOBAL dsl line..
I downloaded all the drivers that I thought I needed including the wireless bluetooth one offered in download dept.
In my D.Manager I have a updated driver in the " network Adapter " but I have a column in the other devices with yellow exp. marks. Can't update other drivers without connection..
I ran a Belarc Advisor . exe so that told me I have some Bluetooth installed. I went to control panel and in network I have a 1394 connection which properties said working properly and connected.
One suggestion from wife said to "see if WiFI was enabled but I'm not sure how to figure this info out.
I am not quite sure what I am doing right or wrong and in what order I need to check things...
I hooked my router wire direct but that didn't work.. Tried the straight phone line which failed as well.. Can anybody start me down the road to success?

The "Windows" key on my Dell XPS 10 keyboard has broken off. The problem is with the white 2-piece connector that attaches between the keyboard and the chicklet key.

I just ordered an XPS 15 Touch 9530 and am wondering if I can replace the 32GB mSata card with a third party 1TB mSata card once I receive the laptop? My goal is to have a 1TB mSata drive as well as a 1TB mechanical drive.

It's been over four years now that I have this laptop with me and has been doing okay, Heating issues and fan wise has always been a problem. Now, the time has come to upgrade my old heep to a newer and much stronger processor with better RAM and Video card. I have below info of my laptop. Inspirion N7110 hard disk failure. I replaced HD, however, recovery disks did not complete. On final restart, Windows failed to start. As an alternate, I installed an old unused XP operating system and Windows 7 update. Windows 7 (6.1) will not find the internet with message that a Network Adapter is needed. I tried to install drivers from the driver disk that came with the computer but received message that software was not compatible (with the operating system I installed, I guess) . Any help in either (1) making the recovery software work or (2) installing a driver for the network adapter for the alternate windows 7 installed would be appreciated. Details of the troubleshoot report on trying to start windows re-installed the original software from the recovery disk are: Problem signature 1--l.1.7600.16385; problem signature 2 is the same; problem signature 3 is "Unknown"; problem signature 4 is "1182"; problem signature 5 is AutoFailover; problem signature 6 is "1"; problem signature 7 is FailureDuringSetup. My Dell XPS 15 L521X was giving me some weird noises from the back of the laptop almost since i got it. It was impossible to use the laptop on my lap or any other surface other than a 100% leveled flat surface. If there is a single A4 paper below the laptop you could hear a noise coming out from fan area. it sounds like the fan was getting choked.... So today I opened the back panel of my laptop to check if it was dust that was blocking the fan, but the inside was clean. However I've noticed the fan and the motherboard are missing screws (2 in total) that could explain the noise. But my problem is I never opened the laptop before so , did i get a refurbished item? or an unfinished product? what is the risk of continuing to use the laptop like this? heat issues?

I am attempting to do a system recovery for Dell Inspiron N4010, and cannot access the Windows 7 recovery partition. For instance, when attempting system recovery it tells me I need Windows 7 installation disk instead of just accessing the recovery partition.
My computer only lists
However, when I go to Computer Management/Storage/Disk Management I see the recovery partition listed there as Healthy.
Disk Management reads:
How do I gain access of recovery partition to perform system restore. I have my recovery disc but hes getting error when its comes to 13% of recovery.or may be the disc having a problem. Can I re-copy the disc to another disc?
Please assist.

My Dell D610 Latitude seems to have some hardware issues; it just randomly hangs when loading things or web pages or saving files, and once it starts moving slow, everything just drags. My sister's D600 is still running fine (it only has problems with certain web pages), and mine is pretty much maxed out so I'm thinking some piece(s) of hardware are failing.
Is there a way to test? Like a program or something I can run to test hardware? I'm at the end of my rope on it and I'm sure these laptops can still run well.
It has Windows XP on it but so do a lot of computers and they run pretty good. I only use it for personal documents and websites I trust like financial sites I'm signed up for.

I'm new to the forum so please forgive anything I screw up in protocols.
I have an older Dell Precision M65 running XP Pro ServPack3. I keep it tuned so it has been running fine until recently. Now when I turn on it runs fine till it overheats and then it will eventually get so slow the processor idle time goes to zero and processes eat 100% of the CPU time.
I believe I have determined that the issue is the CPU fan does not run and when processor gets hot, it throttles back. Here is the only evidence I have so far . . .
I managed to get info to look at the "Thermal Control Panel" by holding down keys Shift + Fn then entering 1, 5, 3, 2, 4. Release all then hold down Fn and hit R. This brings up the panel.
When having issues the max positive values all change to 127.:
When it is cool and runs fast the 127 values are all reduced to around 60 degrees: (Pic I have of panel is too big to post here)
I DO NOT KNOW but it looks like the min and max temp values for turning the fan on and off from various component temps in the first pic are set to max input values of -128 and 127 degrees something (Fahrenheit or Celsius) and of course will never turn on the fan. Computer gets hot and throttles back.
Please note iwhen the computer first comes on the positive values are lowered and it appears the fan will come on. However, after some time running these values change to the max value of 127 then overheats and throttles back.
I have looked through BIOS and cannot find anywhere where you can manipulate these values. I have tried setting the MSR CPU auto throttling to disabled and setting the throttle manually. The values only change back to the max values shown in pic1. I'm not even sure if the values in pic2 are the default values.
One thing, my computer used to run fine till I had issues with Outlook and ran the fix tool. I believe the reason for the issues with Outlook were related to a virus that has been cleaned (I hope). After all of this I could not get the fan to ever come on at fast speed. I DO NOT BELIEVE THIS TO BE DUST, DIRT, DEBRIS, OR THE CHIP SET. I think something is/has manipulated the values in the panel and is preventing the fan from coming on.
ANYBODY have any ideas!? Anybody with a Dell Precision M65 know what the default values should be? How do I fix this issue short of Format C: and start over!!!!???

Is there something I have to do to get this latitude to start up after I replace the Celeron cpu with a T7600?
Every time I replace the cpu and try to start nothing happens. What do I need to do. I am grounded and using the Chem Pad to clean and thermal compound. It only turns on when I put the old Celeron back in. I tried to upgrade the Bios but it wouldn't let me said it couldn't support it.
Hi I purchased a new Inspiron 17R few months back from Dell Online store. From very beginning this computer is suffering from freezing and crashing problems. I have reported the problem to Dell troubleshooting team. An engineer came and changed the motherboard and the RAM. Although the frequency reduced, the original problems still appear. Laptop still crashes and freezes especially in the hour of need. I have other Dell laptops and Desktops as well. I have hardly seen this problem in any of those computers.
Freezing means computer is not responding to keyboard or mouse. Even power button cannot do any thing. Only action I can do is to force shut down by keeping the power button pressed for few seconds. This behavior is quite annoying especially when my work is not saved.
BSD appears when computer is turned on after hibernation or from sleep, I get quite scarey messages each time on blue screen.
System is still under warranty however there are not many things left to be changed. I will appreciate if I get any hints or what I can do to make this laptop a useful computer.
I am using my laptop most of time when it is connected to charging and battery level is full. Is it the safe way or I have to disconnect the charger and then use the laptop. I have inspiron R15 7537.

This is a well known problem but I cannot find a solution. Laptop is Inspiron N5110. Win Mobility Centre started appearing a lot. I dont have GPEDIT.MSC so adjusted the Registry. Mobility Centre went away but now x's constantly appear. Laptop is now fairly useless. Can anybody solve this issue?

I had not used my XPS in about a month. I turned it on and everything worked fine. Did what I needed to do and turned it off. As it hadn't been used in a while there were a few Windows updates that needed to be installed. It took quite a while for them to install when powering down but I thought nothing of it and eventually they were all done and it powered off.
I tried to turn it on about 6 hours later and nothing happened. I took the battery out and held down the power button to remove any static charge, then put it back in, plugged in the power cord and tried again. The power light turned on, I heard the disc drive power up as it always does (no disc actually in there, just the sound of it powering up) then after about 5 seconds it just turned off again. Nothing on the screen, no BIOS, screen doesn't even have time to power up, just the backlighting on the keyboard for a few seconds then it turns off again.
Any suggestions on what to do or what the problem might be? I'm concerned it's the motherboard as it's out of warranty and as a student I can't afford to replace it, so it will likely be destined for the scrap heap which is a shame. Only thing that is throwing me is that it is happening after little use and directly after a Windows update.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. :)
