Seems like this is a common issue with these computers. Same thing happening to my computer. My cord broke and battery needed replacing. Replaced both. I ended up flashing the Bios and it started charging the battery. Now after a day I am having same problem. UGH!!!!!!! Computer is 2 years old. Bought all the fancy warrantees and now that they are expired now everything is falling apart. Not happy. Suspicious! Is it that after two years Dell's products fall apart? If I have to spend anymore money on this expensive piece of junk I am going to buy new and it wont be a Dell. So I hope this is an easy fix.

Power issue
My dell inspiron15r se 7520 is not starting after pressing the power key . No led's were on .I tried connecting the power adapter but as soon I plug it in , the light on adapter starts blinking and the laptop won't turn on . I tried removing the battery and pressed the power key for 5 sec to reset static power and than again put the adadpter and tried switching on without battery but it won't work . plzz help

Latitude 3540 - Adding Memory
I have a Latitude 3540 with 4GB RAM (1 stick). As I understand it, I think it's DDR3L memory (low voltage).
I have a 4GB DDR3 stick from an older Lenovo laptop. When I plug it into the Dell 3540, it's not recognized at all. It just shows as 4GB RAM after I boot up. I tried a 2GB also and same thing.
Can I not mix DDR3L and DDR3 in this Latitude?
The markings on the Lenvo RAM module are:

Particle Trapped Under Left Mouse Key on Latitude E5510 - How to Remove It?
I own a Latitude E5510 apparently my warranty for online chat with tech support has expired, so I'm turning to the online community for help.
It has happened before that a particle has been trapped beneath a keyboard-key on my laptop, inhibiting key usage, and I managed to either remove the key and then the particle, snapping the key back into place, or just pushed down on the key until the particle was crushed and no longer an issue.
Now, though, there is a particle under my left mouse key button (yes, the one built into the laptop), and I cannot crush it or shake it out of place. Is it possible to remove the button like I did with the keys? If not, how else can I fix this?

Last night, my laptop wa working perfectly. I fell aleep, and it mut've fallen off my bed.
There' no damage to the outide/inside, but when I attempt to turn it on, it beep and it says

Press F5 to {}
No ,atter what I do, it won't start up!
Has anyone ele had this happen/fixed it when it ha?
If it helps, it aid the battery has reached the end of it' life. WTF does that mean???

Dell XPS 15 Infinite reboot with no safe mode
I haven't done anything different with my XPS recently (bought about 2.5 years ago), other than buy a new battery as was recommended (the laptop has run fine with the new battery for a couple days). It was put in hibernate mode overnight, and on turning it on the next day, it shows the Dell logo with the loading status bar underneath, then the screen goes black for a few seconds, then it goes back to the Dell logo screen. The cycle keeps continuing.
Safe mode isn't recognized, I'm not sure why, so all I can access is Setup F2 and Boot Options F12, neither of which have gotten me anywhere, unfortunately.
I was wondering if anyone had an idea why this has started, or how to fix it? Even if I can just get all the data off of it. Thanks :)

Inspiron 15 7537 sleep problem when not plugged in
I am having the problem with Dell Inspiron 7537. When laptop is running on battery and I close the lid it goes to sleep mode and if I leave it for a day or so it never resumes after opening the lid. Usually I have to do hard restart (hold power button for several seconds) and then it shows message about attempted windows repair which takes a long time. After such long restart system date and time usually changes to the time when lid was closed.
Interestingly such problem never occurs when laptop is plugged in. I can close the lid and open it week later and it works fine but on battery it cannot resume after one day.
System is Windows 8.1 with all latest updates.
I updated BIOS few weeks ago but it did not change anything. Is there anything else that could be done?

VT Support not working on Latitude E7440 after BIOS upgrade
Hi,
I used the Dell Client System Update Utility to install missing drivers in a Dell Latitude E7440 running Windows 8.1.
The utility update several drivers, and downgraded the BIOS from A10 to A09. I notice the downgrade when virtual machines stopped running, and verified using several utilities (CPUZ, Intel Process Identification Utility) that VT support was indeed not working.
I upgraded the BIOS back to A10 and VT support is still off. I tried disabling the VT option in the BIOS, powering off and on, enabling it back, but nothing works. Then I downloaded CCTK and it shows VT support is on.
The laptop is an E7440 with an Intel Core i5-4200U CPU.
What can I do to re-enabled VT support? I have very important VMs I cannot run anymore.

How can I disable the touchpad on my Inspiron 15R 5537. I use a mouse and when typing the touch pad continually causes errors. I do not use it and need to disable it. I cannot find any settings in the control panel for this. Thanks.

Your battery is temporarily disabled... Dell 17R
I have run into the problem that my laptop battery is no longer charging and at boot time I get the message that the battery is temporarily disabled. I did a search on the Dell Support Forum and concluded that it could be a faulty battery or AC adapter (which is what Dell techs are suggesting to the many people encountering this issue). I replace the battery and AC adapter for brand new ones and the problem like for many other customers, was not fixed.
I am a hardware engineering manager and in my role I influence the decision on what notebook computers to purchase for our engineering staff. After reading the many complaints and the misleading instructions provided by Dell, it is clear to me that they are not taking responsibility for bad hardware and leaving their customers hanging with basically desktop machines as the laptops will no longer operate on battery power. As many here have posted, the machine failed just after the warranty expired, so no luck with Dell fixing the problem.
I will give Dell one last change to own up to this buggy hardware before recommended that Dell hardware is removed from the recommended list of laptop providers for our company. I look forward to someone contacting me on this issue.

DataSafe can't find proper volume
Customer drops off a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium. He did some kind of restore which also backed up his user files.
The computer is running properly, but he couldn't recover his files. I can't either.
He used the Dell DataSafe backup to restore his computer.
It created a folder called Emergency on C:. In that folder areBackup <time stamp>.1 – this is the applicationI run the application – I get the Welcome to the File & Folder Restore Wizard. I click Next to continue. I select Restore specific files or folders. Click Next. I get a listing of files and folders that it had backed up. Under the specific user account, I put a checkmark in Documents, Downloads, Favorites, Music, Pictures, and Videos. Then click Next.

Backup <time stamp>.101.dsb
Backup <time stamp>.102.dsb
Backup <time stamp>.103.dsb
Backup <time stamp>.334.dsb
(Note: I've also tried the Restore all files and folders option. This produced the same result.)
I select to restore to a new folder on the Desktop. I select Keep both files and rename the restored file with a suffix. I click Next.
It then says volume #2 is required and wants Backup <time stamp>.2.dsb. Well, it never made this file. See above for the files that it created.
When I try this using the Restore All files and folders option, the program runs for a few minutes. I see file names flying by and then a window comes up asking for that same volume #2 which doesn't exist.
Anyone with any ideas what's going on here?

Upgrade XPS 17 (L702X, Early 2011) to WIDI
I have a Netgear Push2TV but can't update my laptop to use it. XPS 17 (L702X, Early 2011) GeForce GT 555M.
The Intel update tool tries and then fails - "Your graphic driver has been customised by the OEM. Please go to the manufacturer's support to update the driver and run the Intel WIDI update tool again."
I have tried to launch the DELL quick test (My Dell Client) but after it extracts the patch_inner_dsc to 100, the bar gets 50% across the progress display and then it stops and rolls back the changes. I have retried this on three occasions as I updated Intel drivers but it still fails to load. This seems to stop me using the DELL support with my machine registration details/numbers attached.
I used the Intel update tools to update the Intel driver to graphics driver 340.52 and the updated the wireless drivers.
When I rerun the WIDI update I still get "Your graphic driver has been customised by the OEM. Please go to the manufacturer's support to update the driver and run the Intel WIDI update tool again."
What do you suggest to get my WIDI working.

Sleep Closes All Open Window
I have a DELL Precision M4800 and it's set to sleep if I close the lid, when I closed the lid today and reopened it all of my windows were gone and the unsaved data was lost. One document I was working on in Word was auto-recovered but other than that it was like a fresh power on in the morning. I didn't see anything in the forums about this.
Is this a known issue?
Any suggestions for fixing this?

Dell Latitude 430 Boot Problem
I recently upgraded from XP to Windows 7. Following the upgrade, the laptop boots fine but only if not connected to AC power supply. If connected to AC power supply, the system defaults to "repair" mode and Windows cannot repair the problem. I have run Dell Diagnostics and all systems tests "passed".
Any ideas or suggestions to correct are appreciated.

Laptop stuck on Startup Repair
My Dell Inspirion 14z is stuck in startup repair mode. I've tried starting in safe mode but it just loops back to startup repair. I've went through all of the steps of trying to detect the problem and solve it, but it's still not working. At this point I just want to restore the laptop to factory settings. However, I don't have a restore disk and I don't know my administrator's password. I tried the same password I use to log onto the computer but that's not working. Does anyone know how to reset the admin password and how to get a restore disk?
