I already have the E series docking station model number pr02x and wondered if this is compatible with the newer e7440 laptop?
If so, do I need to purchase the spacer?

Dell PJ8GD A00 will not POST
Some friends who had emigrated brought back a Dell PJ8GD A00 laptop from Australia and the screen was cracked in transit (could see lCD bleeding on screen) and it wouldn't boot up at all, with the symptoms listed below post-screen replacement. I bought a new OEM screen and fitted it. It booted up a couple of times fine so I gave it back to them. They then phoned back a couple of days later and said that they couldn't get it to boot at all. I got it back from them and now it doesn't even POST. The symptoms are (and were before screen replacement);
Plugged in to PSU and power on button pressed.
LED for Power on lights up.
HDD LED illuminates for about 2 seconds and fan winds up before HDD LED goes out, fan cuts out
A low frequency beep comes out of the front speakers every 2 seconds (not a series of 7, just continuous beeping every 2 secsas long as power is left on).
The screen doesn't show anything throughout, no backlight flickering or anything.
Have tried disconnecting various internals, swapping out HDD, RAM, CMOS battery with no joy. I am at the limit of my (limited) PC repair ability.
Any of you chaps have any ideas?

Has someone noticed ghost images (screen burn-in) on Dell XPS 12 Duo?
I recently noticed ghost images on my Dell XPS 12 Duo. If a bright image on dark background stays on the screen for a couple of minutes and then I switch to somewhat dark background I can clearly see the previous image on the screen for some time before it fades away. Once I noticed it I started spotting even more subtle ghost images. I even managed to capture it in a picture with a low-end digital camera - http://imgur.com/a/RIYff (notice the tray icons clearly seen in the Win 8 start screen and even the facebook ad is visible). It is far more clear when you look at the actual screen and not on a picture. I already arranged replacement laptop (as I had other issues with this one) but yesterday I read news about mass defects in Apple's Retina MacBooks ( http://www.ibtimes.com/print/macbook-pro-retina-display-problems-apple-faces-class-action-suit-ghosting-issue-1129939 ) with practically the same issue. Now I wonder if it is possible that all Dell XPS 12 Duo screens have this problem.
So anyone else seeing this on his machine?

Inspiron 14 randomly crashing and freezing
I purchased a dell Inspiron 14-5447 two weeks ago, and I am already experiencing major issues with it.
The computer randomly crashes, and restarts very often. More then every hour usually. Sometimes I get a blue screen, but I don't always. Some error messages I have received include kmode_exception_not_handled, irql_not_less_or_equal, refrence_by_pointer
I have also noticed if I tilt the computer the screen spazzes out, and if I turn it upside down it will completely shut down
These are not normal problems for a brand new laptop, any suggestions to fix it?

XPS 15 9530 - Noise problem?
Hi all,
I just got my new XPS 15, amazing laptop but there's 1 big problem,
A high-pitched scratching/screeching noise is produced from the power button area ONLY when the power is plugged in and the battery is fully charged.
I've seen other forums and others have exactly the same problem, Any ideas?
I found this example http://z.mk/e6vq , the power is plugged into the laptop at 6 seconds.

Ok, I've refrained from jumping the gun on this despite the bleak outlook, but:
Terry B, we're now past the last day that could possibly be considered "early July", and not only do we not have news of a fix, we don't even have official news of a delay, never mind an updated ETA. All we have is a few people here that are posting what they've apparently heard from you through other channels, mixed in with the typically inconsistent answers others have received from random Dell customer service reps.
Terry, please post something official here. Even telling us to expect a delay (ideally with a new timeframe) is better than the complete and utter radio silence we've been experiencing for the last several weeks. I understand that you can only post the news that you get from engineers and others within Dell and that you don't have any control over the timeline or development of the fix itself, but give us something here. If you have indeed communicated updated news with certain customers via other channels since your last post here, I don't see why you can't make it official here rather than letting this thread drift off into hearsay and speculation. Good communication is a basic and key element of good customer service in situations such as these.

Help E6410 hangs after bios post
Hello everyone,
I have a Latitude E6410 that has a special issue. The laptop does boot but right after the BIOS post, it wont boot in windows or any other external devices. Im unable to go in the BIOS options, unable to run a dell diagnostic it just freeze stays at a black screen.
The only thing we can do after the POST is F12 and get to the boot menu but after clicking any option it freezes.
I have changed all the peripherals ( CPU, RAM, HDD, DVD-ROM) with another E6410 that is working fine and we have the same issue.
I booted with the battery or w/o, removed the CMOS battery and same issue.
From there i ordered a new MB from the dell tech direct and completed the swap of the motherboard and I was able to add the new Service tag on the motherboard and then after the reboot I still have the same issue. The Bios revision of the new MB is A13.
On top of that, I actualy have the same issue with 3x e6410 that we kept on the side since we couldnt find the issue.
We have 329x E6410 in our compagny and only 4 of out 329 have this problem. We have 514x E6400 and never had this issue before.
If you guys have any idea of what troubleshooting steps to do let me know ...

electric shock from dell charger
I am getting electric shock from dell inspiron n4050 charger. when i connect it to laptop, i am getting shock from its metal parts. its difficult for m to connect even a pendrive now. i tried connecting on a different outlet. i even tried going to my friends home. still the problem is there. my charger even has a ground pin.

Wont turn on
I need help. A few months ago i was playing on my computer and then the next day it wont not turn on at all. It doesn't even flash of anything. So i bought a new battery and that didn't work. Then i tried a new ac adapter, that didn't work either. I tried to see of it had power at all by plugging a Xbox controller up to it and the controller didn't come on. i have no idea how to fix this or what the problem is, help please.

Touch Screen not working on Inspiron 7737
I've had my Inspiron 17 for 4 months and noticed today that the touchscreen isn't working.
No idea how long ago the problem started as I generally use the old desktop/touchpad combination
When checking PC settings it now says 'no pen or touch input is available for this display.'

Problem with Dell Inspiron 15 5000 changing from dutch to english language
Hi, yesterday i bought a dell Inspiron 15 and when i switched it on for the first time to set it up, everything was in dutch. had to use another laptop to continuously translate what was displayed. then i changed language to english (ireland) (in the first setup before signing in for the first time) because it was the only english-one available, however everything remained in dutch nevertheless. When the OS started I managed to install the English language pack and set english(uk) as primary language and also set it for all users and welcome screen and non-unicode applications, however strangely enough some applications' menus remained in dutch and also the context menus on the START screen. I tried and tried but no success to see how to solve it. I am sending you a message to see if anyone else has encountered this problem or perhaps you could help me through this....thanks

So i got my mom a more basic laptop just for internet usage for Christmas of 2013 and just recently the internet would stop working but it was not disconnect. I have looked around but i have not found any problems. Yes i have tried to update driers through dells driver updater.

XPS 13 Battery Longevity & Desktop Mode.
I just got my xps 13 on march 9, 2013. Today I received a battery warning:
Warning states:
Frequently connecting and disconnecting your computer to a power source without allowing it to fully discharge may reduce the longevity of your batter. Dell's Longevity mode will protect your battery by moderating the extent to which your battery will charge protecting your battery from frequent charge and discharge states.
I enabled the Longevity Mode as well as the desktop mode. Is there any conflict with either.
Should I ever click the option "Charge battery to 100% one time" under the Longevity Mode Tab.
These options are new to me, and I would like to take the best care to keep my battery long lasting.
I also have Dell Intelligent Display in Battery Mode and Dell Extended Battery Life enabled under the Battery Status Tab

Vostro 5470 Ram upgrade
Recently, I bought a Vostro 5470. Since it only comes with the 4GB RAM, I am planning to upgrade the RAM to 8GB. I ask the technician where i bought the laptop if they can do it.. They said, yes. But my only concern is that will it void the warranty?
Other stores even told me to call DELL Support to inform them of the upgrade that I will be making.
