I am about to upgrade from Windows 8 to Windows 8 pro to enable bitlocker. I am guessing at this point since I don't have the system in my hands that it does not have a TPM chip. If it does not have a TPM and I have to go with encrypting the drive with a USB flash drive what happens if the flash drive is taken out before the system is shut down?

rupee and euro symbol on keyboard in dell inspiron 15r special edition not working
Hi there,
I have been trying a lot to make the rupee and euro symbols work on my dell laptop but all my efforts have been in vain.
I have already tried updating with 'Windows6.1-KB2496898-v3-x64' file - IT DOES NOT WORK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please help me out.
PS : Do not suggest me to use Shift key - it is use to write $ symbol and not rupee.

Dell N5110 3 beeps NOT the system board ?
I have Dell 5110 that does not post only 3 beeps and the cpu fan . I have already replaced system board TWICE ( cn-0vvn1w ) no help and both memory modules no help still 3 beeps no post. I have a Dell Vostro 3500 laptop, with an Intel Core i5 CPU M480 @ 267 Ghz running Windows 7 Professional (Service Pack 1) 64 Bit. My graphics card is the Intel HD Graphics and I need to run software that needs my machine to be OpenGL 3.2 compliant. I have tried upgrading my drivers for the card and am running version 8.15.10.2202 which windows reports is the most up-to-date driver for my card. Is it possible to run this software I need on this machine?

Dell 5737 - best graphics option for max CPU turbo boost
I am getting to grips with a new Dell 5737, which has 8870M switchable graphics on-board.
I'm using this machine for programming, so need to maximise the turbo performance of the PC, and I believe this is partly determined by CPU temperature, IE the CPU will throttle back if temps get too high.
I'm wondering if I would get any benefit from switching over to discrete graphics when doing development? Would this reduce heat load from the integrated HD4400 graphics, and reduce the chance of the CPU throttling back after long periods at 100% load?
I don't think I've seen any throttling yet, just looking to optimise my setup.

I am planning to remove the pre-installed Windows 8 from my new Inspiron 15z 5523.
Now after installing a fresh WIndows 8 and installing the drivers.
What should I do to keep the system safe and its registry.
Is Windows Defender enough? Is it OK to install Registry Cleaner like "Advanced System Care" or no?

Latitude D610 Laptop will not turn on
I have a Dell Latitude D610 Laptop and when i open it up and press the on button the green on light on the keyboard comes on and then it blinks exactly (8) eight times and then it shuts itself off I tried this several times but it dose the same thing each and every time. Could anybody please tell me what i can do to fix this so i can get back my computer? I am using my desktop right now but would rather be on the laptop instead in my easy chair if i could.

Dell N5010 inspiron Battery (plugged in , not charging)

i recently purchased DELL N5010 INSPIRON, but now it give one problem. It is not run without AC power. and when i point the battery through mouse it show
"17% available (Plugged in, Not Charging).
and battry light flashing 4 times with orange light after a second. It is the bug or any hardware problem, becuase the bettery may be only 2 month old.
I search on the web, but found fake solution which is not applying to solve it.
If any one have a solution then i appreciated it before solving this one.

Does my Dell Vostro 3460 battery really die?
Hello,
After I bought a Dell Vostro 3460 laptop for about 9 months, now my battery won't charge at all.
To use it, I must always plug in my power adapter.
The status of my battery I've checked in BIOS is battery performing normal.
The status when I hove over my battery icon while charging is "5% available (plugged in, charging)".
Yet, my batter won't received the more percent at all.
Is my battery is already died?

How do I know if the Laptop I am about to purchase is Genuine

I recently inquired online on 1-800-425-4026 (Dell's Indian contact center) and was told that I will get on-site warranty (ie a Service representative from the company comes over to my place and repairs teh laptop in case of any issues) only if I purchase Online via Dell's Website.
I found two Local Dell Exclusive stores near my place. Both are offering different deals - Store#1 is selling a Latitude Series Laptop for Rs 33500 (whereas price on dell.co.in starts from Rs 54,000) He claims that I will get on-site warranty on this piece. The representative on 1-800-425-4026 advised me not to buy from this seller as I will not get any warranty in this case. Warranty is available only and only if I buy from Dell's online store.
Store#2 near my place advised me not to buy the piece sold by Store#1 as it is clearly a rip-off.
Online representative tells me I should buy only from them.
Can someone please help as to how I should proceed and who I should buy from. Everyone seems to be misleading here and I am actually questioning the authenticity of the company Dell.

Dell Inspiron 15 7000 laptop keyboard not working
Before I discuss my issue I would like to say that i have been through so much problems with purchasing a laptop from Dell. I'll keep it short. Bought one laptop didn't work, second laptop replacement didn't work now I have a new 3rd laptop which is great and working, also would love it and appreciate it if I was given the same service you would be given on a technical phone support please, because I have gone through so much trouble and the support I was given was helpful and was happy with service but I do wish to do this in Dell support before I put my self to wait minutes on hold just to get support.
My problem started happening when I was typing in stuff in Google chrome search box as I was doing it my laptop froze and caps lock light on was still lit and frozen too. Couldn't do anything so i turned off my laptop and as i did that i got 3-4 beeps when turning it off and when i turned it back on i got another 3 beeps, after that I logged in and tested things out to see if i was only a small glitch or something but no. The touch pad was not responding when i clicked on the wireless connection but did work after though. So i'm not sure what caused this, I looked in "My Dell" for any blue screen crashes or issues i've might of had but nothing. But at least the keyboard was working for some reason but I would love to know why this has happen and get to the bottom of it.
Also when getting the laptop I did update everything but after 2 days with it. It's been fine just today (11/07/14), so I highly doubt it was any update.

CMOS Battery Replaced. System time out of sync
I own an Inspiron 1720.
It is over 5 years old.
I have recently replaced the CMOS battery since the system time was constantly out of sync.
Now the system time is in sync as long as I do not switch bootable hard drives.
I have two hard drives. The internal one runs Windows Vista the operating system loaded with the original machine.
The external USB drive has Ubuntu on it and I use that to run Linux on my machine.
However each time I boot from the external hard drive and switch back to the Windows Vista drive, the system time gets out of sync.
I have updated the Windows registry to poll the internet time server more frequently but that has not helped.
Any ideas what could be the problem?

Dell Inspiron 15R N5010 wont turn off at all.
I have a dell Inspiron 15R model N5010 laptop and just encountered this problem recently. Whenever I press the shut-down button, it tries to shut-down but kicks back on immediately. I am unable to shut-down my laptop and the only way to shut-down is to press the actual power button.
I recently purchased a replacement battery for the laptop but not sure if the new battery is causing the issue. I tried with the old battery as well and with no battery at all (plugged in) but the laptop still wont shut down.
I have tried almost everything from disabling the start-up programs as well as services to replacing the CMOS cell but no luck. Tried to search for a solution online but nothing yet. Can you please help me with this? I have no other choice left other than pressing down the power button which I don't want to keep doing as it might mess up my hard drive some day.

HELP Latitude E5510 : Windows7 64bit installation

I am trying to install win-7 64bit on my Latitude E5510(original OS is win-7 32bit, 4GB RAM, BIOS Revision A07 )
Win-7 64bit installation disk, I prepared, is professional version 6.1(build7601 SP-1 DSP).
Installation of win-7 64bit was successes completely.
But, I failed to 64bit drivers installation 2times.
That is;
1st trial: Latest driver installation
All drivers were downloaded from dell site selected by TAG No. and win7-64bit.
Driver Installation order is as follow:
This installation order is as indicated DELL Japan's document " 233492_ja".
1. DELL_SYSTEM-SOFTWARE_A01_R260746.exe
2. INTEL_CHIPSET-SOFTWARE-INSTA_A05_R302424.exe
3. RICOH_R5U24X_A04_R263985.exe
4. Intel_AMT-HECI_A01_R276873.exe

At System restarting after installation step 7, win-7 could not start and was shift to recovery installation mode, but system could not be recovered.
2nd trial: driver installation from RESOURCE disk

After system image recovery of 1st trial win-7 64bit clean install image, I installed drivers.

After step 9, restarting system, I found in Device Manager screen, touchpad was marked with "!" and "code10".
To solve this problem, I installed latest driver "Dell Multi-touch touchpad A09", then tried to re-start system.
However, System could not start, and was shift to recovery installation mode.
Above 2 trials were failure, and I can't solve this problem.
Anyone, please teach me how to install win-7 64bit and drivers correctly.

Inspiron 14R 5420
I have the problem for my Inspiron 14R 5420.The system don't start for the first time I press the power button.The LED in the power button lights up and nothing displays on the screen.Even the LED on the caps lock key don't function.Then I have to press the power button again to shut it down and repeat the process.After some of these ON-OFF cycles system starts suddenly.But when the system starts,it behaves perfectly normal and even passed all the tests(with ePSA diagnostics).
I tried draining the residual power by pressing and holding the power button for 20 seconds(after removing the battery and charger).It worked for one time,the system started normally.The problem persists and now, even this process is not helping the laptop to start.
Please help me solve this.
