Dear forum,
I got an error message 2000-0142 on performing diagnostics. But there was no validation on the page like the one mentioned by so many other people in their questions. I didnt recieve any. Also, there was an answer to a question regarding this error that it could be a problem with the cable or cable slot. That caught my attention. Because, I was asked to replace my hard disk which would cost up to Rs. 7000. Then, a technician had earlier suggested that there could be a problem with my charging slot. Kindly enlighten me on this. Thank you!
Before upgrading to Win 8.1, bluetooth was working and after upgrading, it does not work at all, that is, it does not detect other bluetooth devices (though in settings, allow to discover bluetooth devices is ticked), so i've taken my laptop to the techinician, he told me to download latest driver for Dell wireless 1705 8011.11b/g/n 2.4 GHz for win 8 + bluetooth ( i think he is deaf cuz i clearly told him win 8.1 OS) as well as instead of Generic Bluetooth Adapter, Dell Wireless should appear as first device in Bluetooth settings window.
Then i seached the driver for windows 8.1 named as DW1705_W8.14_X01_A00_Setup-XHGTY_ZPE.exe and it install on laptop with the following message
Then it has uninstall everything concerning hotspot application which is used to turn my laptop into a wifi hotspot, now no wifi... and still the bluetooth is not working! By the way, the model is Inspiron 5537.
If you need more details, let me know
Thanks for useful help and i do appreciate!
I have just recently received a new XPS 13 with the new haswell i7 processor, 8gb RAM, 256gb ssd, and windows 8.1.
I really like this laptop, but it makes a really bizarre noise. It happens constantly as soon as its powered on, like a high pitched whirring sound from somewhere beneath the keyboard. It also seems pretty inconsistent, like it flickers in frequency, and when you use programs (e.g scroll through webpages) it gets louder.
Can anyone help me with what the issue is here? Any help appreciated.
I have had my new Dell laptop for 9 days. 6 days ago I finally found a Dell support email address so I could get help with the fact that 2 keys came transposed on my keyboard. Got an automated reply soon enough but no follow up. Since then, my brother was able to resolve that issue, but I have another issue with getting my mail through Outlook (Have to log into Bigpond). Several hours of Bigpond support resulted in their telling me it is a factory settings issue, and that their experts could possibly resolve it for a minimum of $120. Could cost much more.
Can anyone give me an email address to get some action? I tried holding on the phone line for support, but was told the wait would be too long and to hang up.
At this rate my warranty will expire before I get my computer working properly.
The "DW704 WiFi + Bluetooth Driver" given on the dell support site for Inspiron 15 3541 win8.1 64bit not working on my laptop . I have checked the hardware id of the network controller , its
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0036&SUBSYS_020C1028
I googled it and found its actually DW1705 card
where can I find the proper driver :( ?
I have a dell studio 1558 laptop, which is approx 4 yr old. Recently it has got some problem & switched off suddenly. When consulted with one of the local laptop repair shop, he has intimated that there is some problem with graphic card. He has done something (he termed it as reboiling) to the graphic card & laptop worked for few days. But now again same problem has come. Can some one suggest what is to be done. Shall I go for replacement of mother board?
Hi everyone!
Since yesterday my laptop crashed while I was watching a movie via HDMI (image froze, sound played on (sound via HDMI)). It didn't respond to anything so I turned it down and wanted to power it up to proceed the film.
This however, wasn’t going to happen. The screen stayed blank (didn't even see the Dell logo). I tried different things, without HDD, other RAM bank, without battery, without AC charger and a fresh CMOS battery. All without success..
I also tried the trick with the AC charger disconnected and without battery, holding the power button for 30 seconds or so and try again afterwards. Didn't helped as well..
I've read about a hardware check that could be done by holding Fn and powering it up. First I heard a sort of melody, then 3 beeps, pause, 2 beeps, pause and 1 beep (3-2-1). Unfortunately I couldn’t find this beep-code anywhere on the web..
Is there any way to rescue my laptop? My warranty is just expired, the laptop is 2.5 years old and I really want to use it for a bit longer!
Hardware specs:
Intel i7 720 QM
6 GB of DDR 3 RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon 5470
Thanx in advance!!
My XPS M1530 (Vista32) random turns off, and I can't figure out the cause, A12 BIOS. Previous to this problem I had issues with the battery, but that turned out to be a completely dead and faulty battery, and the problem was resolved with a new battery. One of the things I did while trying to sort out the battery problem was to run Dell PC Checkup, one of the diagnostic tools supplied with the laptop. It turned my PC straight off in the middle of the diagnostic. After fixing the battery issue, I flashed m BIOS to 12.
Now it's started turning off when I played World of Warcraft (ever since patch 3.1, before that, it played WoW very well at high settings across the board). Sometimes WoW will play for 5 seconds and my PC gets turned off, and other times I can play for hours on end with no problem - both instances have happened in the same day. It seems however this problem isn't related to simply Warcraft.
Just now, it turned off while I was watching a DVD in Windows media player. No blue screen, no error (as with all instances of my PC randomly turning off), it just turned straight off - didn't reboot -, and there was no message upon my restarting the PC besides something about an improper shutdown, with the options to start normally or in safe mode. I downloaded an update for the Dell PC Checkup tool and ran it, the diagnostic tool reaches ~30%, and again my PC just flatout turns off.
Pressing F2 at bootup shows everything seems to be working ok, no damaged or fault hardware from what I can see.
What could the problem be?
Good morning guys. I have a question. My power adapter for my laptop (n5110) just recently busted. Its specifications were:
Output: 19.5V, 130W, 6.7A.
Now, I bought a replacement charger which supplies only 90W and 4.6A. I tried charging my battery with it and it was successful. And I can fully use my i7 processor capabilities unlike my previous original charger (it got busted two years ago but i was still able to use my laptop till 2 days ago) but I read from other forum posts that it's not good to use a lower amp charger than your laptop's required amp. Is it still advisable to use my new charger? The laptop repair shop here told me I can still use it coz the technician checked the bottom part of the laptop and it showed that the laptop can use either the 65W 3.2A, 90W 4.6A and my previous 130W 6.7A charger. It'll take longer to charge the battery (which the laptop shows every time it starts up). Hope you guys can enlighten me regarding this situation. Thank you so much.
BTW I live in the Philippines so yeah, the original ones or OEMs are much, much expensive than the replacement ones.
Hello.
I encountered a problem running the Allplan 2014 software. I also tried to install the 2012/2013 versions but it always gives this error at startup:
I asked about this problem here, because we are 6 who installed the software, and it works fine on other laptops. Only me and a colleague of mine who also has a Dell Inspiron are encountering this same error message. Any help would be apreaciated.
Hi .... This laptop comes with Windows 8.1 . What I like to know is, is it possible to install Windows 7 ?
I have a Dell Precision Mobile Workstation M4800 that I just replaced the motherboard and the new motherboard only has 9 of the 10 pins on it. The keyboard is not working on it. An external usb keyboard works fine.
Is this a problem with the motherboard? Is there a different keyboard options? or could it be just a bad keyboard - don't know if the keyboard worked on the last motherboard.
Hi guys,
I purchased my Dell Inspiron 15R 5537-0587 i7 yesterday and was told that it has a touch screen. The sticker that's on the laptop even tells me that it has a touch screen, yet nothing happens when I touch the screen.
Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to active a touch screen mode before I can make my new Inspiron 15R a touch screen laptop?
Warm regards,
Jaymes
I have a Dell Inspiron N5110 running Win 7.
It starts up with 5 Beeps, a short pause, then 5 more, and so forth.
When the Windows logon screen comes up, the beeps either stop, or sometimes continue but in a much lower volume.
I've been to the Dell system checks but can't find the problem.
Any ideas?

Dell inspiron 17R WIN 7
I bought this inspiron 17R brand new 4 years ago. Fired it up, it went through its config sequence and when it finished I was left with a 60 gb C (system partition) which now has 4 gb free, and a 400 GB D partition which now has 340 gb free. What the heck was Dell thinking with their setup program ?!?!?!?!!!!!!!!
I've been shuffling things around to accommodate updates etc, but now I am faced with either a full reformat, re-install, which I would prefer not to do. Or finding a means to get my system partition expanded without losing any programs or data on either partition.
Hey,
I know I am not the first one asking this question, but unfortunately my brand new XPS 2720 has this problem! My company bought 5 or 6 XPS 2720 for the senior management staff, I noticed that problem too, you touch the eject light at the right bottom corner on monitor, nothing happened; you use the button on keyboard nothing happened?
Feel really strange, this is something so obvious a problem, why there is no solution, did I miss anything? It is very inconvenient, can somebody help me with this?
Thank you!
Cici
Not sure if I'm in the right place but here is my problem. I have just purchased a Venue Pro 8 and find it impossible to do much on the internet. Pop ups and crashes stop me cold. I could not get to this site on the Venue. I'm using a desktop currently. I have tried everything to eliminate them without success. I really need help or I will have to scrap it. Help!

Hi, My integrated webcam is not recognised as being present at all. I am on Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.
I can't find any appropriate driver on the dell site, having entered my service tag, and searched under the model of laptop.
Seems to be a common problem, but I can't for the life of me find the right answer.
Anyone figured this out?
Thanks, Louise
