Hello,

I've a severe problem with my laptop. The DELL touchpad isn't working at all. I've tried updating the drivers etc, but when I went into Device Manager to see if it was showing up with a yellow triangle, I noticed that it was completely absent. I have had a technician out recently and he replaced my motherboard and cleaned out the system because of over heating issues. But now recently it seems the touchpad wasn't plugged in right. I still have a couple weeks left on warranty, so am wondering is this a case for another technician to come out to fix the error that the other technician may have caused? Or am I missing something? Usually by my book, once the device isn't in Device Manager, that usually means its not in right. 

Some help quickly would be greatly appreciated.

I bought Dell Inspiron 3521 Laptop Serial No: GX2P0X1, the problem is it does not power nor it consume Power from power code. we have tried different power code as well battery still it same. kindly advise what would be the problem and how it can be fixed ??

Hi Everyone,

I am a huge fan of Dell and want to buy the inspiron 7737 i7 laptop but from my previous bad experience from faulty gpu chips (NVIDIA) specifically, and my computer gone to rubbish as the graphics card was welded on the motherboard and not as a separate part that can be taken off, I was wondering whether anyone knows if the Discrete graphics NVIDIA card on the specific laptop (inspiron 7737) is a separate part or comes as one piece with the motherboard.

Hi there,

I wanna buy an Inspiron 14 - 7437. It is sold (in Austria) in different setting (from normal HD, to SSD and a combination of SSD and HD). Can anybody tell me if all versions have two slots for hard drives, so I can buy for example the version with the SDD and upgrade it with an extra HD later on.

Just got a brand new laptop, Dell Inspiron 11 3137, and updated to windows 8.1. The touchpad does not work properly now; gestures/scrolling/pointer not working. I've spent over 16 hours getting windows 8.1 installed and then troubleshooting this issue. I've contacted Dell; updated the driver from Dell, even tried installing the latest driver from Synaptic. I even tried setting the Synaptic app to run under the windows 8 version. 

Touchpads have been around a long time. It's the last thing I expect not to work properly.

At this point I am ready to send the laptop back and call it quits on windows.

Can anybody help with this?

Hi all,

our company trying new laptops for using. We set up Passwords at BIOS (Admin, System, HDD), and boot to OS (Windows 8 64-bit). When os go to sleep and get up from sleep OS can't star, only display freeze screen and you can move the cursor. If internal hdd password at BIOS is disable (blank). System get up from sleep normal (everything is OK). Trying Windows 8 and 8.1 and doing the same. Version of BIOS is latest A05. Does anyone have a solution? Something activate/deactivate at BIOS? Or it can be repaired at new version of BIOS?

I can not unlock bios because pc want system password. I need system password. I can not change any think on settings. I don't know system password. Do you know?

Dear Dell,

  I, Mr. Vijay Vinayak from Bangalore, India. It was a easy choice for me to go for the most expensive XPS avail in 2011 for the simple reason I knew Dell backs it up with exceptional post sales service plus with an additional 2 yrs of extension of warranty  as an option( which was the case with my previous XPS 1330 and 1530) But now Dell has scrapped that option only for XPS which is shocking and disappointing. As I told you earlier, this was the most expensive model of XPS avail at that time which costed me about 100000 Rs ( One lakh Indian rupees).  Let some common sense prevail.. who would spend so much on a machine when they know it would last only for about 3yrs (as I had numerous parts changed in last 3yrs).

Plz look into this matter or else you might be losing a very old customer of DELL( who always recommended to his family and friends)  as I find it stupid to spend so much for a 3 yr complete cover without an option of 2 yr extension.

Hello, my MX17 R4 will no longer boot after BSOD.  When I try to boot it is very slow and when it gets passed the welcome screen it takes me into system restore and has me try and restore from an earlier point. It then says it can not detect a system to restore as it can not detect :C.  

Ran ePSA diagnostic: HD test failed,  error code 0142, validation 89605. 

Can someone tell me if I need new hard drive?

Hello,

Please forgive this post if it's been asked before. I searched the site but couldn't find the answer.

I have a Dell Studio XPS 1647 that suddenly won't turn on. When I first press the power button I get a dark LCD screen and 6 beeps followed by a pause, then 5 beeps. I believe this is a beep code 65? I can't find what this means anywhere on the site. Any information as to what this means is greatly appreciated.

I also noticed the CPU fan does not power up. I have replaced the fan with a new one and had disconnected all the power including the BIOS battery for over several days while the new fan was shipped. It still gives me the same beep code.

I just bought an unused XPS 15 at a bargain price. Or not :)

The warranty has expired. Touch doesn't work.

I suspect that it doesn't actually have a touch screen. It's beautiful and has the 3200 x 1800 resolution. Does anyone know if any of these were built without touch screens? Or have I been sold a dud?

My Inspiron 5520 laptop was making 4 beeps and would not power up.  I followed directions in the manual to reseat the memory modules, and after I completed that, it now gives 2 beeps at power on.  I can't find anything related to this.  Please help!

hi dell team

i purchased the system 5 days ago.

my system config is

core i3 2nd gen

4gb ram

500 gb hdd

shipped with ubuntu currently running win 8.1

battery backup 6 cell model - 4 hrs

the laptop is getting heated up for no valid reason and left area till mousepad is hot even after 15 mins of usage

i have updated the latest bios also.

the system has 2 yrs of warranty

pls help soon as i am unable to use system  due to its heating problem.

Hi! I have a Dell inspiron 14z with Windows 7 and randomly this afternoon I went to turn on my laptop, and after the Dell logo screen appears, a black screen with "Press ctrl + alt + del to restart" appears (It does not boot to the Windows screen). There is no other error message or anything else on the screen, and when I follow the instructions (press ctrl alt del) it just keeps bringing me back to the same screen. I have tried turning it on and off with the power button, tried using the diagnostics tool via f12 on the Dell logo screen, and it passed. I have read that by pressing f8, I will be able to enter the screen to reset the laptop back to an earlier time, however f8 doesn't seem to work. I have tried pressing it rapidly upon restarting, pressing it slowly, and holding it down multiple times and nothing happens, it just brings me to the same error screen. Any help would be much appreciated!

my laptop wont start after i got message "battery critical failure"

It just keep restarting-continuously It would show that it is tarting , i would see the start logo, i would se the F2 & F10 key options and then it would flash and then repeat this process, that is, appears to be starting and then shows logo and the same thing would happen again. 

I am in the process of acquiring a new battery but i dont want to buy a repalcement battery ifthe cause is not the battery.

So I have just got one of the new 2014 Inspiron laptops and I have an issue which I have been unable to resolve. 

I have installed an SSD as the main HDD so I have had to reinstall windows. I have an error code 10 device cannot start error on the Intel SD HOST Controller as shown in the pic. I have installed all the drivers, I have tried disabling and re enabling the device but no joy. 

What I dont understand is what is this for, the laptop has a realtek SD card reader and it works just fine. The error on the device manager says:

The drive is not ready for use; its door may be open. Please check drive %hs and make sure that a disk is inserted and that the drive door is closed.

There is nothing to close?

Anyway here is a screenshot, What can I do to fix this...

My dell latitude 6430u will not let me get into the BIOS. I press f2 or f12 or any of the Fbuttons and it just keeps the dell logo with a blue line underneath and in the upper right corner it says "preparing to enter setup" but then never does. How can I get into the system to repair it or to have it boot up?

I am trying to restore my laptop to factory settings however i when i restart and press f8 for the options i do not have the dell datasafe restore and emergency back up option. Any idea how i would be able to get it and if not how i would otherwise go about restoring my laptop.
