When I press the power button the power button do turn white for two seconds. Nothing do happen. This is what I have done so far.

1) Taken the battery out and plugged AC Adapter in. When the AC Adapter is in an I press the power button, the light does not even come on.

2)  When I put the battery in and plug the adapter in and press the power button the battery charge light comes on for two seconds. The power button does not even come on.

3) I have tried 3 different adapters and none of them do make a difference. All of the adapters have been tested and are working properly.

Unfortunately we don't have another E7240 laptop to change and test the battery.

What can I do next

when i start in the safe mode, i dont have the problem anymore, when i recover the computer the problem
is still ther. i opent olso the laptop to blow the dust out of the laptop.

the problem suddenly appears, ther where no updates installed .... when i call the supportdesk for dell
the say that on this computer is no quarantee and the dont suport it anymore.

must i buy a new videocard (thats what i think) or is there someone that can help me?

the laptop is four years old, never have i had any problems whit it.

i recently started getting blue screens, i descided to factory reset my laptop (n5110) serivce tag (2wgsmt1) to solve the problem. while restoring the laptop i got blue screen which was the pfn_list_failed. now my laptop is stuck in start up repair and i cant factory reset as i keep getting blue screen mid way through. when running the test it said there is a problem with my memory-ram. how can i fix this.

I just purchased an XPS 15 Touch 9530 Laptop. I got the one with the 512GB SSD.

In looking at the manual it very specifically shows a 2.5" Sata drive, but on my invoice it show 512GB mSata drive.

My gut tells me that in reality the battery is now bigger and they removed the 2.5" drive, but if that's true, then the manual is wrong and extremely misleading and I don't want the laptop.

I need to know which it is. This is important for 2 reasons.

1. mSata is not as fast as Sata

2. I want to swap out the 2.5" SSD drive with a 1TB SSD drive.

When i use the arrow key, my touchpad freezes for about 2-3 seconds.  Is there a delay?  How do I turn that off?

Hello tech's, i am using Dell xps 15 l502x for the past couple of years

the laptop was running really good, Few months before i upgraded my BIOS from factory
version to the current version A12. After upgrading the BIOS i am facing several kind
of problems. Like, The system won't startup on first attempt, The battery has to be
removed and put pack again for more than 3 or 4 times for the system to startup, After the
System starts up everything will work fine just for 5 or 10 mins and after that Touchpad and
keyboard will become inactive, But the Keyboards back-lit LED will be working and
lighting up, I have to restart my system again to make it work, Sometimes it will work fine
Sometimes it will not, The system will suddenly crash and end up in a bluescreen error, So
Then i have to remove the battery and put it back to get it work. Sometimes when i shut down
the system, It will not, The system will stay at shutting down... Window for prolonged hours
so again i have to remove my battery to shut it down..

The biggest problem is the BIOS, it is not showing my service tag and asset tag there, Instead i
see a symbol like Y and two dots on top of that. Due to this i cannot run dell's online
diagnostics tool through dell setup, Dell is not recognizing my service tag automatically. I upgraded my BIOS just because dell recommended me, And i am facing so many issues now. What should l do now to make my laptop work fine?

I hope someone can clear this up for me....

My M1730 is not charging the battery. I have read pages and pages of stuff about supposed fixes and BIOS upgrades and all of them have amounted to nothing.

I don't get any error messages regarding battery but if I hover the cursor over the icon it tells me it is plugged in but not charging. In BIOS it says" AC adaptor unkown" It is a genuine Dell adaptor I'm using. The centre pin in the plug is fine and undamaged. Bios also tells me that my 2.20ghz chip is only running at 1.60ghz.. Also gets hot and the fans are running fast almost constantly, I believe this is because of the  supposed "unkown adaptor" causing system to run slow. Is this correct?

Is there any way of finding out whether the problem is the adaptor or on the motherboard? I do not know anyone locally with an adaptor like mine so cannot try a different one.

Hi, I've got a m3800 running windows 8.1. A few weeks ago the touch screen stopped working. If I remember well it stopped working after a windows update or even dell updates, but not sure about this. Drivers are up to date and firmware A05 is running. "View pen and touch info" says : "No pen or touch input is available for this display". There are no tablet PC settings in control panel. A colleague of mine has the same laptop in device manager he has listed 2 HID compliant touch devices, my device manager shows none of both.
I googled for a solution, but so far without luck. I'm wondering if a windows update disabled tablet features ?

Has anybody experienced something similar ? Any help would be appreciated !

I have purchased inspiron 15 z 5523 model through DELL. It has accidental damage protection coverage. But recently I noticed one of the laptop hinge is too loose and it may break at any time. I called customer service centre and they told me that i have to go service centre to fix it, they will not come unless that hinge is complete broken. How funny support is that ??!!! I just bought an Inspiron 17R 5737.  I had Future SHop swap out the HDD for a SSD. When I close the lid on my system for more than a few seconds, it takes about 30 seconds to re-start, and I lose all of my open Web sites, documents, etc.

I've had it in to Future Shop twice for this problem. This is totally unusual behaviour for a laptop.

I just got my Inspiron a few weeks ago and already having problems with my Wifi-Connection continuously. Every other device I use can connect to our router and stay connected for hours. But my new Laptop keeps disconnecting every 20-30 minutes. I set my energy management to high performance, installed the newest drivers but it seems like it's only getting worse!
