Alienware m14x not recognizing being plugged in

$

My laptop has recently developed a new issue, sometimes (It seems to happen most often when I'm playing a game) it will stop recognizing the fact that it is plugged in.  The indicator LED will show that it is plugged in, but the system will say that it is running off of battery, and will show the battery draining despite it being plugged in.  The only thing that seems to fix it is rebooting, but it has become incredibly annoying when this happens while I'm gaming.  I've run Alien Autopsy and I even ran the ePSA tests without anything turning up.  Please advise.

How access system recovery partition in Windows XP Pro?

On a Dell Latitude D630, I can't get the machine to boot up. It seems to have lost access to the hard drive; Windows is missing imm32.dll and can't seem to find the partition for my files.

It won't let me boot. At the screen to choose a profile, it demands a password to an account that has no password and then says "The system cannot log you on new because the domain [XXXXXX] is not available."

I would like to access the system recovery partition on the hard disk, but I can't. I have the XP Pro disc that came with the computer, but there was no System Recovery disk, which is what Windows (on the CD disc) demands. Any advice on how to access that part of the hard drive? I was able to copy some files off the hard disc using a Ubuntu Unix operating system CD, so the drive itself seems OK.

I purchased a dell Vostro 3550 laptop with 3 YEARS WARRANTY, after some time i lost some drivers so i tried to get them back but no success then i formatted the laptop and I tried many times to get dell recovery partition (its there but it is not appearing in the recovery options)

I reformatted the laptop using the windows 7 DVD that came with my laptop, then I started installing the drivers but it seems some of features and functions in the laptop are not working properly like (wireless, Audio, Video and mouse keypad) even the Bluetooth is giving error.

Please if anyone can help me in this issue it will be appreciated.

XPS 15 (9530) NFC (Near Field Communications)

Hello, I have a XPS 15 (9530) Ultrabook with NFC, but cannot seem to get any device to pair with it, so don't even know if the NFC is working or not! I am unable to find any mention of an NFC device in the Windows Device Manager either, so am wondering if their is a problem with NFC on the computer. So . . . 1. Has anyone else with an XPS 15 with NFC managed to pair any other NFC device with their computer? 2. Should I be able to see an NFC device in the device manager? 3. Can you turn NFC On\Off on the XPS 15 - If YES, how?? 4. I believe from the computer literature for the XPS 15 that the NFC detection is fitted in front of the touchpad on the top of the computer, and this is where I should 'Tap to Pair' - Is this correct? (I want to make sure I am at least trying to pair in the right location!) Any advice that can be offered on how to diagnose, use and pair with the NFC would be very much appreciated. Thank you :-)

New XPS 13 (9333) Constant Noise

I have just recently received a new XPS 13 with the new haswell i7 processor, 8gb RAM, 256gb ssd, and windows 8.1.

I really like this laptop, but it makes a really bizarre noise. It happens constantly as soon as its powered on, like a high pitched whirring sound from somewhere beneath the keyboard. It also seems pretty inconsistent, like it flickers in frequency, and when you use programs (e.g scroll through webpages) it gets louder.

Can anyone help me with what the issue is here? Any help appreciated.

How can I buy this laptop?

Precision m4800 very slow compared to similar laptop

My new Precision m4800 runs about 1 tenth the speed of similar notebooks we have.  Novabench gave it a score of 330 but a similar laptop I have scored 1050.  This looks like a bus issue.

Everything that requires memory transfer is about 10 percent the speed of a similar laptop.

I used NovaBench to test how my new m4800 is 1 tenth the speed of my older Toshiba laptop.  My m4800 is a faster clock and more memory but still really really slow.

I have all the latest drivers form the Dell website installed

I think it is a bus driver memory driver thing.  Files copied to the same hard drive work at about 300 mb a second.  All other CPU, memory, and file transfer operations are 1 tenth the speed as measured by NovaBench   I also have the latest bios installed

Dell M4800 Touchpad keeps turning itself back on

$

Having a strange issue with the Touchpad on my Dell Precision M4800. When I disable it using the Dell software or using the Fn+F5 hotkey, it has a tendency to come back on after a random interval of time. I want it to stay turned off permanently, as I prefer to use the Pointstick exclusively.

When using the Fn hotkey, I get a notification onscreen as well as a popup in the system tray saying "Touchpad notification: Your touchpad has been disabled." If I manually disable it through the Dell Pointing Devices software, I get the same effect, but without the notification. In either case, this works great... for awhile.

But then the Touchpad inevitably turns back on. I often don't notice until suddenly my mouse cursor is behaving erratically, at which point I try to swipe my finger on the touchpad and sure enough, it's become enabled again.

However after some further experimenting it turns out the "random" aspect of this is not totally random and I can reproduce the issue quite reliably by furiously scanning my finger back and forth across the Touchpad for a few seconds. Inevitably, the touchpad will turn back on, and I will get the notification "Your touchpad has been enabled." No buttons or hotkeys are pressed, all I have to do is move my finger on the touchpad surface rapidly and within seconds of starting to do that, it will re-enable itself. Again, there is also a notification that it has been re-enabled when this happens, so the software is detecting my finger movements somehow, perhaps I am accidentally performing some "magic gesture" that compels it to re-enable the touchpad.

If I don't intentionally try to cause this, it still turns on eventually, but can take a long time, half an hour or more before it becomes enabled again. I assume it's the activity of my palms resting on it that will accidentally turn it on again in the same way as swiping my finger intentionally across the disabled touchpad. It makes no difference whether the Dell Pointing Device software is open or closed and this will happen when any application is open.

All I want is for the touchpad to be truly disabled permanently and not accidentally turn on in the middle of my work. But at the same time I'd prefer to leave the pointing stick enabled, so I can't simply remove the driver. So far I've been using an external mouse and disabling all internal pointing devices, which works ok, but like I said I am fond of the pointing stick, I'd prefer to be able to leave it on with JUST the touchpad disabled.

Hi all,

I just got my new XPS 15, amazing laptop but there's 1 big problem,

A high-pitched scratching/screeching noise is produced from the power button area ONLY when the power is plugged in and the battery is fully charged.

I've seen other forums and others have exactly the same problem, Any ideas?

I found this example http://z.mk/e6vq , the power is plugged into the laptop at 6 seconds.

Thanks

Dell Inspiron N5050- "Plugged in, not Charging"

$

I've been having an issue which started this morning. The previous night, I forgot to plug in my Dell Inspiron N5050 after using it. I woke up to find that my battery had died (obviously). I plugged in the laptop and turned it on. It booted normally and I was able to do all of my tasks as needed. Then I noticed my problem. The battery icon down on the taskbar showed that the device was plugged in, but was not charging. It has stayed at a constant 2% charge for more than four hours now. The Battery Meter stated that my battery is performing normally, so I ruled the battery out as the cause. The adapter I am using is the default one that came with the laptop when I bought it, and it appears to be functioning normally as well. What could be the cause of this incident, and what can I do to fix it? Confused

Dell 7720 Laptop shuts down 2 seconds after boot

Hi everyone

I have a Dell 17R SE 7220 laptop. I regularly clean its heatsink and fan assemble every 2-3 months to keep it running cool, because once the GPU was fried up and was replaced and serviced by Dell. My laptop is still under warranty.

This time it had been a while since i did that, and the laptop overheated too much. Even when using Google Earth, it would heat up and turn itself off, GPU temperatures soaring above 90 degrees  Celsius..

This one time it got shutdown while i was away. I came back and found it off. Thought it would be another overheated-auto turn-off. I started it up, but then  it refused to start up.

When i press power button, the keyboard lights up, the quickset buttons blink, the Power/HDD indicators light up. and in 2 secs it turns off. The fan does not start spinning though. But that might be because the laptop doesn't get heated up enough for fan to start up. I have checked again for any loose connections, reseated HDD, RAM, Wifi, SSD etc (the ones located just inside the backboard, easily accessible) but nothing works. I tried it both on battery and AC power. I also tried discharging everything by removing battery and holding power button for  30 secs, but doesn't  work.

I've checked the forums. Somewhere it says that CPU pins mights be loose. Before opening it up again to re-seat everything on the system board, I'd like to know if there is an easy solution for this.

Regards

I have a new Inspiron M531R-5535 laptop that I purchased last Christmas.  Ever since I have started it up for the first time I have had a problem with it connecting to the internet.  It will stay connect to my house network at all times.  The problem is I will be surfing and then the internet would quit.  It would start back up after a few minutes.  It would show connected to the home network the whole time and my kids laptops would still be on the internet while mine is not working so it is not the home wifi.  I have even taken it to a friends house and gotten on their home network and have had the same problem. Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Does anyone know of a way to repair or replace this with something higher quality? I haven't had my laptop long and the chrome is flaking off and it has such a sharp edge it cut my finger nail just by brushing up against it wrong.

I love this laptop, but the chrome strip is driving me crazy...

Cursor jumping all over

I have a Dell Inspiron 15Z.  At random intervals the cursor jumps up to the top right or left hand corner.  The display zooms in so far that you can't read anything.

I have turned off my touch pad and only used a wireless mouse, but this does not help.

I have done a Malwarebytes scan and quarantined all files detected but this also did not help.

My laptop is only 13 months old.

What is wrong and how can I fix it?
