My HP laptop, I can type "Recovery Manager" in Search Programs and Files, which brings up a window for originally installed software and drivers to reinstall.
Does Dell have anything like that?

Bad spacebar on Dell Inspiron 15 7000 series
Hi
I've just bought a new Dell Inspiron 7000 only to find that the spacebar hardly works unless I press hard in the centre. It's infuriating having to go back over everything I type and insert the missed spaces but it would appear to be a common problem. Is there a fix from Dell other than sending the unit back?
I can only rely on the middle third part of the space bar to work

Inspier 15 r m5010 issue
Hi all,
I bought dell four years ago, and I am realy annoyed with quality of used hardware. laptop was in serwis on guaranty repair three times, and now once again is broken. When turns on it shows blank black screen and no response, only fun and diods are running. After check with pressing fn button it sounds 7 times. I search in Internet and many people have same issue with dell laptops. Could you help me when my guaranty is gone? I proivde more info about my product;

the lap top is not taking the battery..................

I have dell inspiron N5110 and it was working very nicely till one day I tried to use another dell charger. the laptop give a massage that this charger will not work and to use the right charger, after that the battery light start flashing four times orange and one time whit continuously. more over the laptop is not using the battery power even it is attached and full charged and any time I need to use the laptop I have to attache the charger. The battery is ok as I think because it is full charged and according to the laptop test it is OK. furthermore it was working for more than 3 hours and it is the original one. what do you think it happened and what can I do, and what dose this flashing light need ??????????????? PLS help

Dell Inspiron 15 7000(7537) WiFi issue
Hi,
I purchased the dell inspiron 7000 laptop last week. It has some issues with wifi connectivity.. Though it gets connected, we can see the signal bar fluctuating randomly and the speed of the interent connection is very slow. I am using the same connection for my phone and also checked it with other laptops and the wifi connection seems to have no problem. The download speed on the laptop shows 0.50mbps, while the download speed on another laptop connected to the same connection at the same time and spot shows 6.8mbps.
I have reported the issue the very next day of my purchase, so far I have not obtained any help from the dell customer support. Finally two days back I got a mail stating that there will be a service engineer visiting me in 2-3 working days. But ironically today I get a call form the customer support and they said the person wont be coming for the next week or so as they do not have the parts available.
Why would you want to change the part of a brand new laptop which is not even two weeks old????Is this a known issue for this model??

N5110 bototm base right side hinge broken
Hi All ,
i brought my laptop N5110 in may 2012 ....since that my right hinge of the laptop is broken almost thrid time now...
is it the defect of the product?
this thing first happened in first month only may 2012 when i just brought it .....i asked for a new laptop but then they just given the part replacement...
Really disappointing ,,,,,,..............not sure if i really recommend for Dell to anyone ....

Unable to boot XPS 12
Hi guys,
My 1 week old XPS 12 decided not to boot up.
I have the side power light flashing white and fan running but am not able to boot. Screen is not lit and backlit keys are also off.
I have tried being on power cable and on battery to no avail. The system is running pretty hot though despite not booting up.
Any ideas? Would appreciate any help.

OS on both Factory Reset Discs and on Alienware 17 corrupted!
The OS I have on my recovery discs for my windows 8 operating system as well as the windows 8 operating system on my laptop are BOTH corrupt! I sent my laptop in to a repair shop and it was confirmed that the OS was corrupt. Now I'm wondering what the heck I'm supposed to do?!

Warning: The battery cannot be identified error message
I know that many had this problem several years ago but I didn't use my laptop that often. Even though it is an older laptop I am now using as primary. Getting the message: Warning: The battery cannot be identified error message. I have a Dell Inspirion 1501. This message occurs at start up. I tried updating my Bios but it didn't appear to resolve the issue not sure if I installed it properly. Battery checks out fine - 100% charged however I do use my AC adapter connected to Laptop primarily; never totally rely on battery.
Is this a battery issue and not a virus or malware? How to fix it? Please advise. Thanks much!!

Latitude D620 with D/Port Replicator causes Windows 8 x86 crash!?
Hi, I'm new here on the forum, and you guys have helped me a lot. I've been experiencing a annoying problem with my good 'ole D620 running Windows 8. Whenever I undock or dock, Windows 8 (32 bit) crashes, then BSODs out. I recently upgraded from Windows 7, but 7 never had a single issue. You think you guys could help me out, as I'm constantly undocking and docking throughout the day.

8 BEEP Sounds During Startup - Urgent Help Required
Good Evening everyone!!
This is to bring to your knowledge that I bought Inspiron 14z last year. It had been running well. But since last 3 weeks 8 beeps occur during startup and I have to restart many times through the POWER Button before I could see the proper startup screen of Windows OS - At the startup where logo of Dell appears, a Screen with complete Grey color and some vertical lines appear. After some research I found out that it is most probably the case of LCD Failure.
Please help me out what to do in such a case. Will be very thankful to you.

Latitude E6410 won't boot
Hi there,
I'm having trouble with my Latitude E6410 laptop, it won't boot at all. When i turn it on, it takes some time to display the Dell logo, then the blue progress bar goes all the way through but nothing else happens.
If i hit F2 to access the setup menu, it'll just show the "Preparing to enter Setup" message and then do nothing.
Same thing if i press F12, it just shows the "Preparing one-time boot menu..."but it freezes there and do nothing.
Any ideas, could you please help with this?

Confused about partitions on an Inspiron 11 3000
Disk management shows a 500mb EFI partition (completely empty) a 40mb OEM partition (completely empty), a 490mb recovery partition (completely empty), a 457.44GB OS(c:) partition (93% empty), and a 7.19gb Recovery Partition (completely empty).
I am going to install a 60gb SSD. These empty partitions will take up a big chunk of the new drive. Do I need them? Do I need them that big? What do they do?
Any guidance here would be greatly appreciated.

bios.hdr bios file for system id 0x0201 version0.7 (Dell Latitude D430)
I am running Ubuntu on my refurbished machine and it runs really great, but since it's linux, there is no official support and I want to see if a BIOS update will enable it to go beyond 2GB of RAM. Can anyone help? Someone told me of this link, where you can download a .hdr file and there is a way to install a BIOS update through (Ubuntu). It is http://linux.dell.com/repo/firmware/bios-hdrs/, but there is no version 0.7 but is one for version a07, which I really doubt is the same thing.

sudo apt-get install smbios-utils
Then, get the System ID:
sudo getSystemId
You will get an output like this: (from my Dell Optiplex 760)

You will only need the System ID,
go to http://linux.dell.com/repo/firmware/bios-hdrs/ and search for the System ID.
There will be multiple choices, get the one with the BIOS version you want.
Click on it and download the bios.hdr file.
To install the BIOS file, we have to activate the dell update service, (if there is no output, the service is activated)
sudo modprobe dell_rbu
Tell the update tool what to do:
sudo dellBiosUpdate -u -f /place/where/the/bios/is/bios.hdr
You are ready now and can restart the computer. The new BIOS will be installed at the first boot, this can take some time (it took me 5 minutes).
This way, you don’t have to struggle with a floppy disk or a Windows installation.

Start-up Problems - Inspiron 15 7000 (7537 BTX)
Hi. I received a new Inspiron 15 7000 yesterday, and am experiencing the following issue:
Approximately every other time I try to either a) Turn On the laptop or b) Resume from sleep - the laptop freezes.
This is often accompanied by the backlit keyboard being lit and staying on. Nothing else happens. No screen etc. or other response. The only way to get the laptop to work is to hold down the power button to kill the machine, and try again. This usually works and the system starts in a seconds.
Is this a known issue? Is there a fix or will I need to send the unit back?

XPS 15(l502x) freezes while gaming(with adapter plugged in)

My dell xps 15(l502x) freezes with a buzz sound while gaming. it happens only if i am playing with the laptop charger plugged in. if i play without it then the games runs smoothly. what is the problem? what is the fix? any help would be appreciated. thank you.

Error code 2000-0142
Hi,
I have a dell XPS 14z. I came back from dinner last night, having left my computer idle to find it had crashed. I rebooted and it worked fine. This morning I awoke to a dell diagnostic window asking me to run tests on the system. I did so, and revealed my computer failed the Targeted Read Test. I restarted the computer and pressed F12 as suggested on other forums to run the PSA diagnostics which resulted in the error code above. It appears my only option is to replace the hard drive, is that correct? If so, can someone recommend a hard drive for me since my computer is no longer under warranty. Is there is reason why this happened and ways to prevent this from happening in the future, my computer is only 2.5 yrs old?

Dell 5521 Bluetooth Driver Update for win 8.1
After upgrading to win 8.1 my Bluetooth is not connecting to any smart phone tried Samsung, Sony Xperia and HTC.
I have re-downloaded and installed the drivers but nothing happened, then found that many laptop having the same issues due to win 8.1 update, windows current version is changed 6.2 to 6.3.
Kindly release the update as soon as possible.

Please help. My dell xps 15 is freezing with an abnormal buzz sound while gaming. no keys are working then, have to shut down by holding down the power button. This happens only when gaming(till now). Its just out of warranty and the problems started. i cant understand the problem. did f12 diagnostics, but no error. please help. thanx in advance.
