Cypress Touchpad driver XPS 15z Windows 8 (Workaround Solution)

Where is the Windows 8 Cypress TrackPad Driver for the XPS 15z?

Problem: Before upgrading to Windows 8 the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant would of forced you to removed the Cypress TrackPad Software and Driver before upgrading. After upgrading your XPS 15z to Windows 8, you will then notice that there is no Cypress TrackPad Driver on the Dell Drivers and Downloads Site for the XPS 15z under the Windows 8 section. Instead there is only a Windows 7 Driver.

Dell have quietly marked the A06 2.3.6.26 Version of the Cypress TrackPad driver as Windows 8 compatible but trying to install the A06 Cypress TrackPad Driver normally will give you a incompatibility error like the one below, this is due to the Setup.exe file. A workaround to solve this problem is to perform a manual install of the Cypress TrackPad driver by following the instructions in the answer thread below (see link

This is what will be displayed if you try to install the A06 Cypress TrackPad Driver on the XPS 15z through its normal Setup.exe. The error is slightly misleading as the driver itself works under Windows 8, but for whatever reason Windows 8 identifies the software installer as incompatible and blocks the installation.

To get around this, you can bypass the normal Setup Executable and install the driver and software manually:

http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/p/19473174/20216716.aspx#20216716

Note: The Windows 7 Driver is listed Windows 8 compatible you can confirm this by checking the driver details and clicking the compatibility tab. The issue being Windows 8 will block the normal Cypress Setup.exe from running due to its software incompatibility checks, this is slightly misleading as the driver itself is completely functional under Windows 8. This issue has been reported to Dell and hopefully will be corrected soon.

If this solution worked for other XPS 15z owners let me know by replying to the thread! If you have any problems or questions feel free to respond to the thread.

Cursor jumps around when typing

This has been happening when typing emails in Outlook. It will be interesting to see if it happens while typing this. So far it's been OK. I have a Dell XPS M1530. There it did it just then, the 1530 jumped into the subject field. It always jumps into somewhere I have already typed. So it doesn't just happen in Outlook. It is very annoying. I am using a Bluetooth mouse, but also there is a touchpad just under my hands. Could it be that I bump it by mistake?

I don't know it that's the problem as the touchpad cursor is different to the typing cursor. I'm watching the touchpad cursor and it's not moving. The typing cursor is behaving itself now. I have just moved the touchpad cursor up the screen a bit and the typing cursor is still behaving itself. Sorry about all this running commentary on what's happening, but it was misbehaving before and now it's not.

Does anyone have any clues on this problem? While I am typing my hands are well clear of the touchpad. It just jumped again, and it did not jump to where the touchpad cursor was, so it's not related to that.

Hi,
I was using my computer just now and had trouble seeing the keys on my keboard. My previous laptop had a backlit keyboard and I'm kind of used to having one. Does anyone know if an Inspiron 15R 5537 is suitable for a backlit keyboard installation?

Thanks

Dell 5-Button BT (Bluetooth) Travel Mouse in Windows 7

I post this to assist others - I've already found the "solution" to my problem.

I recently upgraded a 2 year old Dell laptop to Windows 7 Pro. I use a Dell 5-Button BT (Bluetooth) Travel Mouse that came with the laptop. The default mouse/bluetooth drivers in Win7 supported the basic mouse functions. Under Vista, I could easily customize the functions associated with the various Mouse buttons, but not so in Win7. I searched the Dell Support website for an updated mouse driver (unsuccessfully) and then contacted Dell Support. Even though my system is still under warranty, I was told that I'd have to pay an extra fee for the Dell Solution Center Team to provide me with the Dell Mouse driver for Win7! I said, "No thank you," and continued to research my issue.

I discovered that the Dell 5-Button BT Travel Mouse is actually manufactured by Logitech. I went to the Logitech website and found their updated software for Win7. Fortunately, the same software supports most of Logitech's mice -- it is called, "Setpoint 4.80." I downloaded and installed the software. It immediately recognized the Dell BT Travel Mouse, and I am now able to customize the five mouse buttons again.

Logitech offers Setpoint 4.80 versions for 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 7. The 32-bit version may be found at:

Dell Venue 11 Won't Charge/Turn-On (out of the box)

I purchased a Dell Venue 11 on 12/24/13 and received it this past Saturday, the 28th.  I ordered the $499 version.  I was very satisfied with the item and found it comparable to the Windows Surface 2 Pro.  I took my time to install all my apps that I needed and to adjust my security settings so that I could log in remotely to my work servers.

Yesterday while I was doing work on my tablet, I noticed my battery was low.  So I plugged it in and continued to work.  However, the tablet turned off on me about 15 minutes later.  I thought maybe it didn't charge as fast as it pulls energy.  So I plugged it in to charge while it was off for almost 3 hours.  It still would not turn back on.  I was using the Dell charger that came with the tablet.  I tested the charge with other items that take the mini USB port and it charged them, fine.

I contacted Dell and after being transferred 5 times and dealing with a couple of representatives that clearly weren't familiar with this new product, I finally got someone from tech support to trouble shoot my tablet.  They first had me hold the power button for 10 seconds.  No luck.  Then they had me hold it for a minute.  Still nothing.  Then we did 2 minutes and tried to plug it in.  Needless to say, it still will not power on.

In addition to my tablet being a brick, I also ordered the Mobile Keyboard with it.  I received an email stating that I would not receive the keyboard until the end of January because it is'in production'.  Very bothersome because had I known this, I wouldn't have even bothered purchasing this item from Dell, altogether.

I am very disappointed in Dell that they would send me out a defective unit.  Further disappointed that I wasn't properly informed of the wait time on the keyboard.  And even more annoyed at Dell's unwillingness to compensate me for my troubles and the hours of wasted time that I spent installing items onto my tablet, the files that were on the tablet which are now lost and the 3 hours that I had to spend on the phone with them.  They would not offer me even a small credit for my troubles.  Had this been a different company, I know that wouldn't be the case.  I have been a long time purchaser of Dell products but going forward, I will have to think twice.  Yes they offer affordable solutions that are practical, but the experience with customer service and the lack of quality of products almost isn't worth the hassle.

After I enter the Windows product key, I get a screen asking me where I want to install the OS. Unfortunately, no drive shows up and I get a "We couldn't find any drives. To get a storage driver, click Load Driver."

Clicking on that just asks me to browse to a signed driver, either on the C drive, the DVD drive, a USB slot, etc.

i tried to start the setup from the OS the drivers appears normally but the laptop asks for restarting then it starts in infinite loop rebooting and telling problem occurs and so on.

XPS 15 L502x Game Crashes

Dell Dissatisfaction letter:

To whom it may concern,

I would like to express my complete dissatisfaction with my
recent purchase of your Dell XPS 15 L502x model
laptop. I am Comptia certified for A+ and Network+ operations so I am
very fluent with computer functions, hardware, software, and networking capabilities.
I work for Konica Minola technical support doing software and hardware support
on Laser printers. I will start here by listing the specifications of the
laptop that I purchased. Components are listed as follows:

Toshiba  500GB 7200RPM Hard Disk Drive/ Since purchase have recently replaced with Crucial M4 128GB Solid State Drive
Drive

Matshita BD-RE Blu Ray Drive

6GB DDR3 SDRAM

Nvidia GT540M 2GB GPU and Intel HD 3000

Full 1080P display

JBL speakers

Regular keyboard/Since has been replaced with the backlit at my own
cost

Intel Core I7- 2720QM CPU @ 2.2GHZ /2nd Gen Sandy Bridge

USB 3.0 ports

Intel Centrino 6230 Wireless NIC w/bluetooth

Webcam

Now Since I got the computer which I have had for
approximately 8 months I have run into numerous problems. When I first got the
computer I was very excited I was finally able to save up enough money to get a
high performance laptop. The laptop worked flawlessly for a while until one day
I was playing a higher graphics video game (League Of Legends) and all of a
sudden the computer crashes. More specifically the screen freezes as well as any audio that was playing through the
speakers instantly became static sounding and continued to play and feedback
through the speakers. This would not reset until the computer had manually been
shut down and rebooted by holding in the power button. After this first
occurred I tried a number of things to attempt to resolve the issue myself. I
first went ahead and uninstalled and reinstalled my graphics drivers as well as
upated the BIOS to the most recent version at the time. This did not resolve
the issue. I then continued to go through a complete format and reinstallation
of the operating system (Windows 7 64-bit). Continued to test on multiple video
games inluding:  Modern Warefare, League
of Legends, Crysis 2, Skyrim. Issue continued to persist after the complete
windows and driver reinstallation. I also went in an adjusted the Nvidia
Control panel options to ensure that High Performance Nvidia processor was
selected for both my  individual program
settings as well as in my Global preferred graphics processor. The issue
remained.  At that point I proceeded to
call Dell Technical Support. Which I had called for in the past to resolve a
noise problem with the fan, a bad blu ray drive and a bad power supply cord and
let me tell you talking with your tech support reps is a terrible experience.
They do not understand half of what you are saying and are honestly not very
knowledgeable when it comes to computers. One time I even had one of the dell phone support
technicians tell me that the blu ray drive does not connect into the
motherboard. They decided to go ahead and send me out a replacement motherboard
to attempt to resolve the issue. A few days later the technician came out and
replaced the motherboard. This fixed the problem for about another couple of
months. More crashes while playing higher graphics games. I tried going through
and lowering my video settings for each game which caused the issue to occur
less however it would still continue to crash occasionally. I called back in
again to dell technical support at that point and got a replacement motherboard
put in again. This time the computer crashed out while playing high graphics
games right from the start. I called in again and they told me that they would
like for me to send my system in to their support center which I declined
because they stated it would take 2 weeks and that they would moniter the
system and ensure it gets fixed.  I am a
computer technician and perfectly capable of monitering my own system and
testing to see if the issue continues to occur. Not to mention the fact that the
Dell technician that came on site even admitted that they generally get sent
back out often after customer’s have submitted their machines to the dell
service center.  Also I use this computer
on a daily basis and it is necessary that I have this up and running and in
good shape. So I requested they send yet another motherboard to attempt to
resolve it because it had temporarily in the past. This time when the
technician came out I brought some Arcitic Silver 5 heatsync for him to put on
the GPU’s and the CPU because I have now done some online research and
determined that this is in fact a common issue for this model laptop. One
person recommended re-applying heatsync so I tried this. Also another
recommendation was to install a Solid State drive which I have also done and
included another fresh installation of windows 7 64-bit and all the driver
software. The issue still persisted.. So I called back into dell and
they informed me that they would go through and exchange my laptop however they
stated this process takes from 7-14 days. They called me today and offered me
the exact same model laptop however I am apalled again because this issue
seems to be specific to a motherboard/GPU manufacturing defect.   I have
had so much difficulty here between arguing with 10 different dell support
techs trying to get this issue resolved to continuing to have to test this
issue repeatedly and repeatedly and reinstalling operating systems and
purchasing the upgraded hard drive. I’ve honestly had enough at this point.  Basically what this issue boils down to in the
computer is either the motherboard/GPU.  What I want to know from you is first off is this issue going to continue after system replacement with the same model? Is this a specific issue to the Nvidia GT540M graphics? Why can't I get my laptop replaced with a different model due to the insufficiency of these motherboards/GPU's. The whole reason I purchased the laptop was due to the high specs and its capabilities to be able to run these games with ease....At least this was the advertisement.....I have also referenced some links I have located where soo many people are complaining about the same issue. I have also taken a video of the frozen screen with the audio feedback as well as referenced some youtube videos showing the same problem.

New XPS 13 (9333) Constant Noise

0
0

I have just recently received a new XPS 13 with the new haswell i7 processor, 8gb RAM, 256gb ssd, and windows 8.1.

I really like this laptop, but it makes a really bizarre noise. It happens constantly as soon as its powered on, like a high pitched whirring sound from somewhere beneath the keyboard. It also seems pretty inconsistent, like it flickers in frequency, and when you use programs (e.g scroll through webpages) it gets louder.

Can anyone help me with what the issue is here? Any help appreciated.

Hell all

I've just been dealing with a clients E6420 and i also had non-wireless connectivity

when installing all the drivers required to update dell system

update all

and when  you have installed the microsoft virtual connection , please remove and all connectivity will be back on your system,

this is due to the ebvironment you would be working in if you where to use the system,

with the virtual ssytem it is required for you to connect to it manually usual via an administrator who would  install the details required  in an enterprise environment

microsoft virtual connect is for just that ,work environment

for mobile productivity and connectivity.

hope is helps other.
