Inspiron 15R SE 7520 wifi keeps dropping

$

I bought this laptop in August, less than a year ago, and for the last four to 6 weeks I have had quite a bit of trouble with the wi-fi dropping for no reason.

I have Qwest/Century Link DSL, running a qwest/century link pk5000 modem.
My wifi is set to WPA2-person.
MAC Filtering is off
Set to B and G (802.11b and 802.11g).

I have updated all of the latest drivers and that does not help.

I am using OPENDNS on my modem, but that has not been a problem for other wireless devices in my house. This laptop drops wifi at my in-laws too, and they don't have OPENDNS or anything else installed on their modem. (I set it up in a basic mode for them because that is what they wanted.).

I have been through other forum threads searching for answers and have tried modifying my power settings, uninstalling then reinstalling the drivers.

Other things i have tried are at the following links:

http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/network-internet-wireless/f/3324/t/19493746.aspx

http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/network-internet-wireless/w/networking_internet_wireless/362.recommended-wireless-router-settings.aspx

Why am I having such troubles? What is wrong with this computer?

No Battery is detected ??

Hi,

I have DELL Inspiron 6400/E1505 laptop and it's been one and half year since i bought this laptop so my warranty is already expired. I am experiencing a weird problem with my battery. This morning when i started my laptop (Vista Home Edition) on AC power, the battery icon (battery with plug) was showing a cross and when i hovered over the icon, it says 'No Battery is detected. When i open the battery meter software, the first tab 'battery status' was showing all controls empty and disabled. I thought perhaps my battery is dead, but my laptop is working OK with AC power as well as on battery. Battery light turn green/yellow when it's on AC power but it is RED when i remove the AC power but system keeps working. In battery mode the battery meter icon doesn't change (it normally changes to show a battery without the plug). I am not sure what to do, what has happened? my battery is dead or battery meter software is not behaving?

Dell Inspiron 1545 won't load any search engines except Chrome

Alright, here's the deal. I am on my dad's old <ADMIN NOTE: Substitute character removed as per TOU> laptop. Yesterday, it was running perfectly (if slow) and I could watch netflix and message people and it was fine. But this morning it had been idling for about 20 minutes, and when I go to watch Weeds on netflix, it keeps giving me this notice that says a plugin won't load. I clicked continue, and then all of a sudden my firefox freezes. So I end the task in task manager and then go to try it on Chrome, which is my preferred browser anyway. I could log in and click on my show, but where it should show how much it ha loaded, it instead says it can't play because netflix is open in another browser. Notice, I didn't have any other browsers open. So, I try to open up firefox again. It will load for a minute, and then stop, as if nothing happened. Same with explorer. No matter what I do, it won't load! And to add insult to injury, my Youtube, Pandora, Grooveshark, nothing will work. In Pandora it says it's played the first two seconds of the song, then it will skip it. In those first two seconds, theres no noise. I've tried with headphones and everything, and it won't let me listen. Really starting to piss me off, and I don't know what to do. I need help. What do I do?

CPU Over-clocking Not Working

I recently brought a Dell Inspiron 15 7537 Which features an i7 4500u clocked at 1.8 ghz. It can turbo boost to 3.0 ghz but the problem is when i'm gaming it still only uses 1.8 ghz (Indicated to me through Task manager performance tab).

When i go to task manager and use the performance tab it says Maximum Speed is 1.8ghz, and when i'm gaming it uses 1.8 ghz and says it's at 100% CPU usage.

I have already set the performance settings to high, and since updating my Bios they seem to be locked, so i can't check if there's any thing there i need to turn on.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Can't enable bluetooth on an XPS M1710

Hey folks, I could be doing something very stupid here so even if you have an obvious option I'd like to hear it.

I have an XPS M1710 (running Vista Ultimate) which was rebuilt a few weeks ago, I've gone to use the bluetooth function and there's no sign of it. It's not in device manager at all nor are there any unknown devices showing. I thought it might be that FN+F2 had disabled it but tapping it twice shows the wi-fi and BT icons disabled and re-enabled but no sign of bluetooth.

I've checked the bios which shows the bluetooth device as installed and I've checked the option for it which is set to enabled. I've popped the cover off and it is definitely there, unplugging it and popping it back in hasn't helped.

The BT light is not lit up and I can't get it to light up either which I'm guessing indicates the bluetooth device isn't active in Windows for some reason.  When running the driver package from Dell it aborts as it can't find any bluetooth device.

The laptop did have its motherboard (plus the graphics card and ram) replaced but I honestly can't rememeber if the bluetooth was available before then (after the rebuild)

Thanks for any help,
John

Dell Latitude E6400 blue screen

Hi

I'm having problems with my Dell E6400 laptop recently.. It suddenly freezes then a blue screen comes [I've attached a photo of it]. It happens frequently without doing a specific task.. e.g. sometimes it happens while browsing, playing games.. etc

Also, the WiFi service no more works although it used to work like a week ago, I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the blue screen. The WiFi led turns blue when I switch on the button on the right side of the laptop, but it doesn't do any effect to the windows :/

It's worth to mention that this is associated with XP SP3 windows only, the other windows [Win 7] runs fine. Not to mention that this windows has had a few viruses for the last week [Hope I got rid of them successfully!].. Could this be the reason behind this system failure?

Any ideas on what could cause such a kind of error?

Thanks in advance!

P.S I'm not sure what kind of important information you might need, but I'll be pleased to provide every necessary information that you require.

Connection keeps dropping: Inspiron 17 3737 Windows 7 64 bit. appears to have no appropriate network card driver or updates available for it

What the hell is this? Just bought this laptop. The network connection keeps dropping. No, I know it has nothing to do with a problem with my router connection because all of the other computers in the house are able to connect just fine. I know it's a problem with the network card on this new laptop. So let's please get past that and move on. Thank you.

I think I may have discovered the problem. I went to my support page to look for an updated driver under my Service Tag for this laptop. This is the only driver that is listed for my system:

Dell Wireless 1704 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth Driver

http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/Product/inspiron-17-3737?driverId=FY5D8&osCode=W764&fileId=3321812970&languageCode=EN&categoryId=NI

The problem with this I think is when I looked at the wireless card I have on the laptop, it says Dell Wireless 1705, not 1704. When I go to look for a driver for the 1705 version there is only a driver for Windows 8 64 bit, none for Windows 7 64 bit which is the OS I have.

A driver I found using Google search appears to be the driver that is currently installed on my laptop as of July 8, 2013, but as you can read it doesn't appear to be for my system which is 3737, not 5437 or 3437. This driver update has a later release date. What I am not sure of is if I should try to install it.

"Dell Wireless 1705 802.11b/g/n, BT4.0+HS Driver

http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/driverdetails?driverid=04VP3

This package provides driver for Dell Wireless 1705 802.11b/g/n, BT4.0+HS and is supported on Inspiron 5437 and 3437 that are running the following Windows Operating Systems: Windows 7 64-bit."

Need to figure out external enclosure compatibility for two old laptop hard drives

Hi.  I've got a couple of old Dell laptops.  I need to access their hard drives.  I bought a couple of USB enclosures, but the pins don't seem to match up with the hard drives.

The first is a Hitachi Travelstar - Model IC25N020ATCS05-0.  I believe it is a 2.5" ATA drive.  I ordered this enclosure - http://sanoxy.com/product/sata-encl-s/.  It didn't seem to line up with the hard drive pins.

The second is an IBM Travelstar - Model DARA-206000.  I believe it is a 2.5" IDE drive.  I ordered this enclosure - http://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-2-5-Inch-External-Enclosure-SBT-EKU25/dp/B0006BGV2Y.  It didn't line up either.

Help!  What enclosures work with the above hard drives?

Dell N7110 boot issues

My son’s Dell laptop is having some issues. I have explored blogs and other avenues to try to solve the problem before I head to the computer store,He has a Dell Inspiron 17R N7110 64 bit. When trying to boot up, the Dell logo comes on and then in the lower right corner it gives the F2 F12 boot options and then goes dark and continues this cycle. I have tried F2, F12, F8 and Ctrl alt del, taking the battery out, holding down the on/off button, all without success. It’s probably a simple fix, but I haven’t found it on blogs and the Internet and of course the warranty was up less than a month ago. Can't find the disks.

Is there a way to configure F11 and F12 to work as volume up and down, without having to use Fn key?

I think the title is pretty self explanatory.. but basically, I'm sick of having to hold the function key down on my Inspiron 17R just to turn the volume down! My ancient old sony vaio from 2005 had volume buttons above the keyboard, and my girlfriend's little mac book lets you change the volume without using a function key. Is there a way of configuring it with Dell's Quickset? Or in windows 7 itself?

thanks

Desktop with user profile Not loading after motherboard replaced.

Hi

I own a Dell XPS 15z Laptop and I recently replaced my motherboard (under warranty) by dell technicians as my motherboard got damaged (apparently due to reverse current flow, due to which my laptop wouldn't start).

Now the problem I am facing since the replacement is, When i set up the current date in the BIOS and start my laptop, It loads till the welcome screen and asks for my password which when i enter (as normal, eventhough with a few seconds delay) and takes it to the welcome screen as usual. but after that it takes time to load and it shows the message "the desktop is being set up for the user profile". after which the desktop loads in the basic 2000 theme with less programs loaded. and when i click my computer or my files, a message pops up saying " the server process could not be started because the configured identity is incorrect"

But when I change the date to a future date eg after 4 to 5 months ahead in the BIOS and starts my computer, it starts normally and works normally (although i will have to change the date back, for me to use internet or else all the sites shows expired certificates)

so now every time i log in, i need to Change the date to a future date and then after i log in change it back to the current one and when i logoff again revert it back so that next time when i log in it loads normally

can someone please tell me why does it behave like this ? I.e when the date is forwarded, it works normally, but when the current date is put it acts weird ??

any help will be appreciated.

E6510 Sudden reboot with latest BIOS

I am having trouble with a new batch of E6510's we have purchased for our Company.

All 4 of these laptops have been Wiped and rebuilt. Each time we used The Re-Imaging installation guide's order for driver installation.

One laptop Made it through the rebuild and did not get its BIOS updated, its still running A04, and has no sudden reboot problems.

Three other laptops came from the Factory updated to A05 and will suddenly reboot with no warning. Two of them do this like once or twice a week, one does this at least twice a day.

In each case, the only indication that something has happened (other than Windows complaining about improper shutdown) is a power event in the BIOS log which says "ASF2 Force Off".

Looking around I see one other person describing a similar problem, but he has gotten no replies
(http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/p/19345688/19747358.aspx)

I have one final A05 laptop that has yet to be formatted, so I will try running it and see if it Does the same reboot. But can anyone shed any light on what this problem might be?

I am in need of assistance because my laptop won't shut down

I have a Dell Vostro V131. For the last two months I have been having this issue where, as I shut down windows, and the screen turns off, the CPU, and the lights (wifi indicator, power button) keep on running and dont turn off unless I manually keep pressing the power button for 8 seconds.

This happens every time. Please allow me to explain that this is not a software issue. I have reinstalled windows to the factory image and the problem did not resolve itself. Moreover, the software is not keeping the computer on, the Windows has completely turned off, it is just the CPU and lights that stay on. For further clarification, this issue has already been brought up, in this thread: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19450900.aspx?pi239031352=4 and I have the exact same issue. There the resolution appears to be a new motherboard. I preferred opening a new post rather than posting on the old one, because that is quite outdated, but I hope I can find some help with this.

DELL, or whoever, please help!

DELL Inspiron N5110 - Touchpad's Scrolling Issues

Hello!

I own an N5110, there are a few issues with the touch pad which are really bothering me.

      1.  Despite increasing the touch sensitivity to the max, a very feeble touch is detected by the pad which most of times result in unvoluntary  clicks.

      2.  The scrolling is not always responsive, even the task bar icon shows the blue touch detection in the scrolling region but the page does not scroll. It is not             as smooth as it was in my old inspiron 6400.

Is there any software solution to it ? or I have to change the hardware.

Dell Studio 1558 black screen

I have a Dell Studio laptop  purchased in August 2010(no warranty left). It was working fine until yesterday when the screen started turning pink and then green. I powered down the laptop using the power button but whenever I try to switch on the laptop after that, the screen doesn't turn on. I can hear the HDD running and i can turn on/off the backlit keyboard. When I press the power button at this point, the laptop switches off immediately without having to long press.

I read some related posts and here's a list of things i tried out:

i. Tapped F2/F8 repeatedly (also Fn + F2/F8) : doesn't help

ii. Removed battery, held power button for 60 secs, connected to power(without and later with battery) and turned on laptop  : didn't help

iii. Pressed 'd' and started, the laptop flashed some colors but then nothing happened (doing the same and pressing F12 upon reboot resulted in continuous beeps for maybe 20 secs or so). I also pulled out and plugged in the monitor cable under the keyboard but got the same result.

iv. Pressed Fn and power button. I heard a pattern of tones but I'm not sure how to intepret them. Here's the pattern:

1.<continuous multi-tone beep> pause <continuous multi-tone beep> pause <continuous multi-tone beep> pause

2. 3 single beeps. Pause. 2 single beeps. Pause. 1 beep. Pause.

3.<continuous multi-tone beep> pause <continuous multi-tone beep> pause <continuous multi-tone beep> pause

4. 3 single beeps. Pause. 2 single beeps. Pause. 1 beep. Pause.

And so on..

From what I gather, the beep code means 3 beeps and the motherboard has failed but could somebody please confirm?

Missing drivers

Hi, I own an Inspiron 14z and my original HD was rendered unusable.  I purchased another, reinstalled windows and after going into the device manager, I noticed I am missing the following drivers:

Ethernet Controller

Network Controller

PCI Simple Communications Controller

SM Bus Controller

I am unsure as to where I can find these critical drivers, as I am dead in the water without them.   Also, how do I setup my hard drive like it was when it came from the factory.  I no longer have the D: partition that Dell created which allows me to restore to factory settings.  What do I do??
