Hi there,

I recently had my hard drive replaced and I just installed the fresh OS - Windows 7 Home Premium SP1. I have a CD with drivers from dell, but when I try to install the wireless/bluetooth drivers 1702 I am getting error "This installer can not run on this platform. Please select package for the correct operating system." The wierd thing is that I installed the Realtek PCI network adapter and I had been able to connect to internet by LAN vable. I went to Dell support site and ran Analysis using my service tag, but it didn't do anything. After that I went to intel website and ran system analysis from there. The only problem it reported was that the video driver was not the right one. So I uninstalled it and installed a new one. It's fine now, but I cannot find a driver for my wireles and bluetooth. I tried making windows find solutions in device manager, but it couldn't.The order that I installed drivers was - chipset, audio, video, network... I will provide more info if needed.

I have had my Dell 7537 for a month now and i have noticed flexing on the SD Card slot. The pictures speak more than the description.

I'm not sure if this is an issue just with my laptop or a universal issue.

I've had quite a trouble with this wifi card on my xps 14. I've never had stable internet using wifi on an ultrabook whose main feature should be strong wifi. I was finally able to resolve the issue somehow without tweaking much as many suggested changing power plan to high performance would do the trick. It was by default  on high performance in plugged in mode but still used to drop down and fluctuate strength even when plugged in.

I tried updating them to latest driver offered by DELL to fix the issue - Didn't work

I tried every tweak out there in various forums but none of them worked.

After all failed attempts all I did was to download the latest driver from Intel.com instead of DELL & to my wonder, it works like a charm now..though I get low signals to 2 bars sometimes but it never drops and speed doesn't slow down much.

I purchased a Dell computer 3 years ago with an extended warranty. I specifically purchased the warranty to cover form/factor problems such as the LCD screen hinge not functioning as designed. Sure enough my Dell computer screen hinge began to separate. When I sent my computer in for repair, to my surprise, I was told the warranty does not cover this repair. Screen form / factor separation was deemed "normal wear" and therefore not covered. How disappointing that Dell does not even honor their warranties. Just another reason I will not buy another Dell. What a disappointing company Dell is.

I have a dell inspiron 15 5321, originally windows 8, updated to windows 8.1, I had created a USB recovery disk through the dell back up and recovery program, but 43% percent into resetting the laptop, I got an emessage, after that I wasn't able to start win does anymore, so today I got the windows 8 recovery media disk, and the setup comes up, I input my language n keyboard information, now I'm looking at " windows 8 - install now , or repair computer" when I click on install now it takes me to another box where it says " upgrade Or custom" if I click on upgrade it says to restart windows normally ( which I can't do ) if I click on custom it show drive 0 partition 1, Drive 0 partition 2 ... Etc, and under all of them it says Windows can't be installed on "drive 0 partition 1" and so on. Any help?

Hello,

I have weird problem with fan in my Inspiron 17R SE 7720. When I am playing some graphics intensive games my GPU is overheating. But when i reinstall nVidia graphic drivers, everything is allright for some days. Then it returns to overheating. Also I discovered, the fan is running at higher speed when i reinstall the drivers (It is making more noise). What I should do?

I am running Windows 7 64bit

PCIe?

Can't find this info anywhere.  I have some 7mm SSD drives I want to deploy with these.   However, if it's PCIe, I might go that route too.

I keep getting a message when I plug in an external device that the device will perform better if I plug it into a high speed 2.0 port.  I have three ports, and I get this message with each port.  Furthermore, in my device manager it says there is a 3.0 USB port.  Where is it?

Powers on but no beeps and nothing happens. Weirdest thing though, when I removed the battery, I noticed a cable that was not connected. Any ideas where it belongs?

I just recently purchased a Latitude E7440 for on of my users and it does not seem to dock properly. If the laptop is on with the lid closed, and the user places it on the docking station, the monitor will not display anything and the peripherals attached to the dock do not work. The monitor will act as if it is getting a signal and the power light on the monitor will change from amber to blue but nothing is displayed. The user must open the lid and then everything starts working. After that the lid can be closed and everything is fine. This isn't a huge issue but it is quite annoying to the user who is accustomed to just docking his laptop and everything working.

Apparently this is a common issue, but I have yet to find a solution for it.  I got my XPS L501X in November 2010, and since then, I've had this laptop hang or freeze randomly.  Recently, I've had a good stretch of a few months where it hasn't happened.  However, today has been horrible.  I have had to turn it off by pushing the power button literally more than 50 times.  And when I mean randomly, I do mean randomly -- during startup, while on the internet, while even browsing these forums and registering to post this.

My laptop specs from Dell Support Center:

I got a popup and an attempt to install an exe file when i browsed a site with my virus software on.  It then went to priviledge escalation mode, and at that point I hard powered down the computer.  WHen I attempted to restart, i got the post 7 beep.  Removed the cmos backup battery, replaced, tried again, same beep.  I have the hard drive on an USB harness on my lab server and the partitions show up fine.  Haven't run a virus scan yet.  All of the answers I see for the same problem indicate a failed processor, but would this happen concurrently with an attempt to install a trojan?  Windows 7 btw. no new hardware installed prior to the error.

Hi, today, my computer shutdown automatically because of overheat. When I restart my computer, an error code #M1004 was shown on the screen. Does anyone have the same experience before, what's the meaning of #M1004? Thanks!

When powering the Studio 1749 up it fails to complete booting up and shuts down after a few seconds. I remove the power cord and am able to usually get it started with battery power. It has also started throwing up the blue screen and shutting down and restarting on its own. Any suggestions?

So I have an Inspiron 17R SE 7720 that has all the latest drivers with BIOS A11 (Win 7 Ultimate x64)...  I have all the power settings configured for correctly for sleep (no hybernate), however no matter what I try, I can't get the laptop to wake when the lid is closed via USB keyboard.

I'm using Logitech's Wave MK560 combo (unifying receiver) - both the keyboard/mouse have the wake option enabled in their hardware settings.  I also have wake from USB enabled in the BIOS.

The interesting thing is that if I put the computer to sleep with the lid open, I can make it sleep/wake it from the Logitech devices.  With the lid closed, I can only make it sleep - the only way to wake it up is to open the lid and press the power button.

Anyone know of a fix to this?

Cliffs Notes:

Lid Open : CAN sleep/wake from USB Keyboard/Mouse

Lid Closed : Can ONLY sleep - won't wake unless I open Lid&press power button

I have a dell studio 1537 laptop and have no power whatsoever. All I am getting is two solid lights on the volume down and volume up and the mute button is blinking....

I have googled this extensively and found no real answer or solution, lots of people have this problem but no one seems to have posted their outcome..

The best I can see is the processor is at fault but is there anyway to test the processor without just buying a new one....

PS, the screws on the processor, should they be down tight...?
