My dell xps 15z battery not charging. I checked in the Bios and ac charger is not detected in the BIOS. It happen few days after I upgrade the bios system. I change the battery, but it is not working. I change the ac adaptor, but is also not working. When I disconnect the battery, the computer run perfectly on ac charger and the plugin sign appear. but when I connect the battery, the plugin sign of ac charger disappear and the battery does not charge.

I look like the problem is with BIOS. I tried to install the origional BIOS, but it says that it need both battery and a.c charger. So please help me in this regard.

Precision M6400 LCD Black Until Windows Login

$

I have a weird issue where the LCD of a Dell Precision M6400 laptop is 100% working but only in Windows.  It won't display the BIOS or the Windows startup process even with the external monitor disconnected.  When turned on the LCD will display a blinking cursor then go dark during the boot process and only come back to life at Windows login screen.  I've tried using the Function key plus the F key for the display selection but that doesn't do anything.  I mean the display options come up on the screen in Windows but it won't switch between monitors, expand, etc..

I have a feeling that maybe whatever switch or sensor that detects the LCD lid is open/close might be the issue but I don't know how to fix that or where that is.  There's no mention of it in the service manual for this model.  I don't know if it's related but the keyboard backlight is also not working.  Everything else is fine.

Has anyone encountered a similar issue?  The laptop passes all diagnostics (Dell and third party) I throw at it.

Dell R17 5720 Wont Load Far Enough To Even Get To The Dell Logo

When I open the lid to the laptop and hit the power button, the 3 buttons on the top of the keyboard cycle through and the power comes on, but the only thing that happens next is the screen turns on with a slight brightness, but it doesn't load any further. It doesn't even load to the Dell logo. If I tap the power button again, all lights and monitor goes off with a beep noise.

I have taken the battery out, unplugged the power cord and held the power button for over 15 seconds. This did not do anything.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.

connects fine, but drops off & Intel PROset won't reconnect unless I restart windows

I am using a laptop in my living room which connects fine to my home router located in the bedroom,a distance of 10 m (32 feet) from each other. When the connection between the 2 devices is lost, the only way to get it back is to start Windows because Intel Proset wireless won't reconnect to my home router. Why am I not able to just reconnect with restarting Windows?I am using a 2007 Dell 520 Latitude (used), windows XP Pro version  5.1, Intel PROset wireless

start>shutdown>restart, is taking forever, very slow. Why? Dell 520 Latitude laptop 2007 model

My problem is

I click START >Shutdown and have to wait and wait forever (3-5minutes) for the final prompt to either restart/shutdown/log off.Its is real annoying.

I am using a 2007(bios) Latitude Dell 520 laptop (purchased second hand).  I've had this problem from day one (the laptop was actually on when the seller handed the laptop to me).

Wondering why its so slow between shutdown and the next step (final prompt to either restart/shutdown/log off). What is the problem and how to solve it?

Latitude notebooks have RAID0 disabled and locked out and will only allow RAID1... why?

Hello all!

In the US Army, our latest field tough laptops are the Latitude E6430ATGs. Like the old E6410ATGs, the BIOS Intel Option Rom for RAID configuration only allows RAID1.  It will not allow anything else.  Our intent is to enable RAID0 for performance, but no matter how much research we do, there seems to be no answer.  We are using a hard drive in the regular hard drive slot with a caddy adapter and hard drive in the module bay slot.  We press ctrl+I to enter the Intel Option ROM configuration utility to create a RAID array.  It definitely recognizes both drives, but only shows RAID1 as an option.  The controller definitely supports both RAID 0 and 1, so that's not the issue.

This seems to be characteristic with Dell Latitude laptops.  Why did Dell purposefully disable the RAID0 option?  If any Dell engineering folks are reading this, we'd definitely like to have RAID0 as an option to create an array.  We can do it with our HP Elitebook 8560p laptops and our Optiplex 980 desktops easily because the option shows up and is not restricted.

Any suggestions?

M6400 power adapter

I have a Dell M6400 laptop.  Up till yesterday, it functioned perfectly.  Yesterday morning, I noticed that I was running on plug in power adapter. But today, when I got home, It was turned off, I check the power and it was plugged in. I unplugged the power adapter for 30 seconds and replugged back in, the green light was on and I checked the laptop and it showed charging, but hear some buzzer noise that came out from the power adapter. After plugging in about 5 minutes, the green light on the power adapter was off and it showed no charging. If I unplug and replug it will be working for another five minutes again. I don't know what's going on, if anyone know how to fix this problem, please help. Look like the capacitor inside the power adapter is not working well.

Inspiron Sleep Issue

I have a new Inspiron 15 (3521) running Windows 8.

I'm using it as a desktop replacement, so it's got an external keyboard/mouse/monitor plugged in, it's plugged into AC power, and I keep the lid closed.

I have the Windows power management set up so that if the laptop is on AC power, it should never go to sleep. I also have it so that if the lid is closed, nothing should happens.

So here's the problem: If I manually tell Windows to sleep, after I wake it up again, it'll go back to sleep on its own after 2 minutes of no activity. It'll keep doing that, until I open the lid and close it again, and then there won't be any problem until the next time I manually put Windows to sleep again. I can reproduce the problem every time. I'm not sure why it does this, or why it chooses 2 minutes of idle time before sleeping.

I've got the most recent BIOS and all the latest drivers from Dell.

Is this a known bug? Or is there something I'm missing? I couldn't find anything else in the Windows power management control panel, nor in the Intel graphics settings utility.
