Hi, when I got my latop, Alienware m17x all the software was on it and working. I tried to instal win xp 64 on it as I don't like anything else, but since dell don't make any drivers for win xp 64 on the m17x r4, I simply couldn't have the software I wanted.

 

I returned back to win 8 and everything installed except my web cam... can I have the drivers for this please, as I have already found the drivers for everything else.

 

your diagnostics software is ok, for checking my cpu speed etc, but your suggested drivers for my system does not say anything about my web cam, can I have a link please, oh and maybe the activation code I know my sevice tag, but I don't really want to enter it on a public forum, thanks

I cannot connect to my wireless since I changed my password on my router.  My internet provider works with TCP/IP version 4 and it no longer appears in my settings.  I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop.  I was given several options to try but they all entail using the internet to fix the problem and as I said, I cannot connect.  My IP address was not correct but I have fixed that problem by resetting it.  How can I get my version 4 up and running again?????

Good afternoon everybody,

As the title says, i can´t write and navigate with my keyboard and touchpad. (I can with mouse,keyboard). The problem began with AlienTouch, there was no driver for the program. I installed it as it recommends on the support site and when i restarted the laptop i could not log in because of the touchpad and keyboard. 

I deleted the driver and restarted but still nothing. I´m currently using windows 8, I don´t know if this may cause a compatibility problem with alienware´s software

any suggestion?

The driver I installed was: Touchpad_Synaptic_W84_X01_Setup-!R8WH_ZPE.exe   which i downloaded from the recommended programs a the dell site.

I just purchased an Inspiron 14R for my granddaughter (graduation present). I know Dell doesn't ship OS Recovery disks anymore (poor decision), but I thought I'd be able to create one from the Dell Backup and Recovery app.

However, all I see is the "System Recovery" option, which doesn't work. It fails after the first DVD. I don't have a flash drive to try that option yet. 

But I don't really want 4 DVDs of a full system backup; I just want a Windows 8 OS Recovery DVD. The manual seems to say I have one opportunity to make one, but I've never seen that option.

There must be a way to get or make a simple Windows 8 OS backup--why is this so difficult?

Forgot to add that I am running Windows XP and need instructions to locate the TCP/IP version 4 to my computer.  Was told it is still there but was somehow hidden.

I have an Inspiron 17R laptop, purchased in Jan 2013 that will not boot.  It powers on, briefly shows the Dell screen, then the screen goes to grey.  I have run the hardware diagnostics and it shows no problems or error messages.

Hi,

I have a Vostro 3700, i7,  8GB RAM, with Nvidia GeForce GT 330M.

When I run the "PC Check up" hardware test for the graphics card, the laptop shutdown a few seconds after the test is initiated.

This also happens randomly when running a rendering application called "Poser".

I have the latest driver for the graphics card installed, downloaded from Dell Support page.

I have cleaned the fan and replaced the thermal paste to avoid overheating. The laptop is not too hot when this happens.

Any idea of what is causing this? Is this definitely a hardware problem or could it be something else?

I bought dell inspiron n5520 two weeks back. I have observed that its screen is flickering in low brightness.

My keyboard cover isn't attaching properly.  See pictures:

I just got the laptop last week.  I removed the keyboard cover once to upgrade the RAM and now it isn't snapping back on properly.  The piece of plastic in the middle photos looks like it was deformed or something... does that ever happen out of the factory and not get noticed until someone removes it?  I'd hate to use my warranty on something so mundane, but what else can I do at this point?

hello i have a dell inspiron 15 which wont post .The unit is powered on the backlight is on but screen is blank (black) and then the dell just beeps 8 times and each beep is less louder than the last till it reaches the 8th beep. what could this mean

Thank you for your time. I really appreciate the help, and I respect your Expertise. I bought a Inspiron MODEL number N5110 from Dell; and when I press the power button, it tries to power on and the power button stays white, but the screen is blank and nothing comes up at all. When I press the F8 button nothing happens. I can hear the fan start running for a couple seconds but then it shuts right off. I have four white lights at the bottom and two are lighting up. The power one to the left and the wireless one to the right are both lighting up. Also, I tried removing the battery and holding down the power button for 30 seconds, and that did not help any. So what's wrong?

A friends 1520 inspiron screen is really dark. Tried changing inverter card to lcd but still dark. tried replacing video card still dark. someone suggested checking voltage from motherboard. Can you tell me where to check output ? External monitor works fine..

Hi Terry,

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525. It was not booting, seemed like it had some issue with the motherboard. Got it changed. It worked fine for one day, then again the next day it was not booting.  Then I tried removing  the battery and kept the adapter on and it worked. Now is the battery faulty? Do I have to change that, or could it be some other issue?

Can you help?

I raised a complaint to your investor relations team about the inconsistency of quotation (for extending the warranty) provided by different channels. Will any one follow it ?

It is unbelievable that the agents of different channels (e.g. Online Chat, Technical Support Hotline, Customer Service) provide different quotation for 1-year NBD on-site service & 2-Year NBD on-site service for same device! None of them could resolve my case.

Hi, I have a dell Inspiron N411z, which does not come with a backlit keyboard. So,  I did some research and found out that I could replace my keyboard with th PVDG3 keyboard and it would work great. I ordered a new one off of ebay and I just put it in. When I try to turn my computer on, the computer begins to start up, but then right before Windows starts, it shuts down. It does this four or five times before It eventually starts up. It works fine when the computer is started. I thought maybe that was a one time thing so I restarted my computer and it did the same thing. I even tried unplugging just the backlit cable, but it still did it.  I put back in the old keyboard, and everything is back to normal.  I am just wondering if I have a defective product or if i need to install some sort of driver? Any help would be great.

my laptop is having problem actually when i start my laptop different colored horizontal line start coming on screen and after some time whole screen becomes white..

I have an XPS M1330 which I wanted to do a clean reboot as I need it as a reliable spare while Dell fix the ongoing issue with my Vostro. Being mildly obsessive, I still have all the old CDs and disks from the XPS so dug them out. I also checked on Dell site how to reinstall MediaDirect because I remembered it was a bit strange. That page is here http://www.dell.com/support/troubleshooting/us/en/04/KCS/KcsArticles/ArticleView?c=us&l=en&s=bsd&docid=DSN_321541 so I did that (selecting Option 1). I am now stuck at step 8,9, 10, 11,12 because the CD drive is now not a DVD drive. (It was when the OS was there because that has the DVD drivers. But now, having nuked the HDD with the partitioning done by MediaDirect, it is now only a CD drive not a DVD drive.)

I have confirmed this because the XPS WILL boot from a couple of bootable CDs I have and it WON'T boot from the reinstallation OS DVD. Since I have neither a universal "Undo" button nor a TARDIS, can anyone suggest a way I can get the OS onto my XPS?
