I have a few months old Dell Latitute 3480 notebook with Ubuntu 16.04 (only, no windows) installed.
Today I was trying to boot the pc while having inserted a new usb mouse, during which the system gave an error of 'No bootable devices found'.
I tried to reboot several times, but with no success and I am stuck with my machine not starting. I would not like to format given all my data and software on the machine.
Any help?
My laptop drained its battery for the first time and having a problem in rebootting. Is this normal? I guess its not?

I found the CPU speeds to be a bit lacking for the amount of work I do. i realized on user benchmarks website that my 7th Gen Core i5 7300hq is actually considerably weaker than even then newer core i3 8th Generation CPUs.
I'm thinking about upgrading my CPU on this computer but I really dont have any idea how to on a laptop like this one, is it even possible? and if so what are my choices? I'm currently looking at the new 8th gen Coffee Lake CPUs.

I started the laptop and it surprised me by indicating it was going through a hardware test. When finished it indicated that there were no hardware problems.
Next what appeared n the screen was as follows:
AUTOMATIC REPAIR
Your pc did not start correctly. Press RESTART to Restart Your PC which can sometimes fix the problem. You can also press Advanced Options to try other options to repair your pc.
When I click on RESTART, the Dell fails to restart and then four options appear on the screen:
1: Continue (Exit and Continue to Windows 10)
2: Use A Device (Use USB Device, Network Connection or Windows Recovery CD
3: Troubleshoot (Reset Your PC or Used Advanced Options
4: Turn Off Your PC
I’m scared to death that I’ll make the wrong choice or do the wrong thing and lose all the data on my PC. Can you provide a careful systematic approach to proceed?

This is a lap top I am very happy with, although it's 4 years old. I'd like to fix or upgrade it, if needed/possible. It does a ton of word processing, Redditing, stores documents and photos and music galore. Just added some music from Christmas when I noticed the disk space thingy.
It has been starting up very slow, but going mostly fine once it's awake. The Space Used 98% thing seems to have gone up dramatically lately, so I'm trying out a WebRoot scan on it (trialware). Otherwise:
What's usually wrong here?
Do I need to add memory? Can I add memory? How do I tell if that's even possible?
And then, how do I tell what I need? I am comfortable doing some work on it (don't think I've ever opened this particular laptop up, except to remove fuzz from fan).
I probably need some assistance understanding the difference between different types of memory, etc. and how they work, and what it means when they are overloaded.

Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
4 Gb RAM
Bought used (Ebay). New Hard drive, fresh install Win 7 Pro 64-bit, nearly 200 updates installed.
All OS updates installed and drivers updated by Dell Support.
I have a problem with the DVD drive.
Windows does not see the DVD.
I see it listed in the BIOS. Ran Bios diags and nothing reported.
I logged into Support and ran Diagnostics.
DVD not tested or reported. Not seen.
Tried to install driver and Windows would not install the driver and reports Component not found.
Tried the usual removal and re-install the drive.
The drive is getting power. The tray opens (when power is on) and the light flashes when the tray is closed.
Otherwise the laptop works perfectly.
Can anyone say if this suggests the drive is bad or perhaps a problem with the Mother Board?

I just opened a new Dell Inspiron 11" 3162, and I must have accidentaly hit the FN key or a function key that reversed my Caps, and also I am not able to type a number unless I hold down the cap lock key ?
Also my cap lock is inverted- caps type when light is off, and continue in caps only?Please help as it messes up passwords & other.

Dell inspiron i5 5000 with windows 10 boots very slowly. During the boot process the delay occurs when the Dell logo is displayed then the screen blanks and delays a second time at a Dell logo. Sometimes ti totally hangs at the Dell logo on a warm start from sleep mode.
I have performed all of the troubleshooting/optimization techniques I can think of. Including:
Hardware diagnostic tests show no problems,
I have update BIOS and device drivers,
There is lots of Free hard disk space (only about 10% utilization),
I have optimize the computer with the Dell PC SupportAssist,
I have Scanned and removed all malware with a vast variety of scanners,
Scanned for corrupt Windows files,
I have disabled almost all programs in the task manager startup tab, and
Recent upgrade to Microsoft Windows 10 had no impact on the boot speed,
Could the Dell "extra" windows software be causing the issue?
Dell Lattitiude E6440 won't start when I try to power on. The power button will light up few a few seconds, then go out. The first light (hard drive) will remain flashing, while the other 2 remain solid; yet the power light is off. It sounds like the fan runs for a second to get it to boot but then it just stops. I've replaced the motherboard and CPU and am still getting the exact same response. I've tried using different RAM, unplugging the battery from both the laptop and the motherboard and resetting the power, and even tried removing the LCD monitor and connecting to a separate monitor through VGA. All still giving me the same issue. If anyone has any other ideas or thoughts on how to get this laptop running please let me know! Help is greatly appreciated!

Great laptop that Ive been using for 1.5 years. Recently I've noticed my battery is showing signs of an error other Dell users are reporting.
Laptop charges fine to 76% then it starts alternating from "plugged in, charging" to "plugged in, not charging". Charging after 76% becomes really slow.
What I've done so far:
1. Updated BIOS
2. Updated Dells Power Management tool
3. BIOS can detect the adapter (45W). Im using the adapter that came with the laptop
4. Battery settings in power management and BIOs are set to Standard
5. Completely drained the battery and tried doing a full charge
6. Uninstalled Microsoft ACPI compliant control in device manager then re-installed
Battery diagnostics show the battery is in EXCELLENT health.
Any ideas?

I use my Precision 3520 with WD15, when i push to type-c cable, the laptop start automaticaly, but i don't see DELL logo or use external keyboard to enter BIOS for example, but the external monitor starts when Windows 10 is starting.
Why i have this issue?
I thinked that i can use my laptop from the start.

I have purchased XPS 15 9560 FHD on November and noticed this serious backlight bleed on both edges which I can see just by looking at the display day or night as you can see on the image.
Is there anyway I can replace this within warranty period. I have opened a support request via support assist 4 days ago but no reply from their end.
I am little bit concerned about this laptop and brand right now as I am from India and I spend a huge amount of money on this thing already. I also doubt the availability of replacement parts in India as this is a newly launched laptop here. Please help!
I installed Dell Power Manager 2.2.1 on a Latitude E7470 and its prompting me to install the DPM Component service and won't detect the battery. I had to turn on the Dell.Command.PowerManager.Service & Dell CommandPowerManager.Service and set them to automatic but the program still won't find the battery.
I'm running Windows 10 on my Dell Inspiron. I was updating a game I play, and and accidentally unplugged the external hard drive I keep those saved files on. Upon plugging it back in, I was then unable to get the laptop to recognize the external drive. It would show it in Device Manager, but I was unable to access it. I tried scanning for hardware changes, with nothing being shown. I can't find where the problem is. After snooping around online, I disconnected all of my peripherals and restarted the computer. I now get a message when trying to boot up that says "bootmgr is missing."
I'm not very computer literate, but I've pressed f2 and f12 to see if there's anything obvious that I'm missing.
Running the diagnostics, I get error code 2000-0123, and a message saying that memory integrity test has failed.
Any ideas?
Hi, I have a problem with System Password of my laptop.
I would disable the functionality to change boot device. I did this:
1) enabled "bios password"
But i see that this ask password to acces bios, but not disable functionality to change boot order.
2) I enabled also "System password" but I saw it was too much...
So I tried to disable "System password". System asked be "current password" I added and also new password and confirm... i pressed both time "enter" and suppose to disable passowrd.
Save -> exit -> restart
System asked me again password before boot device.....
I enter again in setup and disabled also "Bios Password" and i see on video first 2 line of bios that report
Bios Password not installed
System password not installed
F10 -> restart------
But system again ask me "system password"
I tried with both Bios and System passowrd but I cant access.
I suppose that now that "bios password" is removed is still active "System passowrd" that already before not permit me to access.....
So, what i can do now?
