So my screen has done this 3 times now over the past 3 days, and I have no idea what it means. The box you see in the middle is actually my mouse, which is the only thing that I can move. Other than the mouse, nothing else responds and I have to hold down the power button to get it to stop. Anyone else seen this issue and maybe know what's causing it? I'm on an Inspiron 7567 if that helps. (sorry about the picture quality, dell won't let it be bigger than 1,000kb)

Few hours ago it was suddenly shut down during working.
So from what I have come to understand from reading various posts only there's at least 3 different motherboards for this laptop. Few people know exactly which model has upgradeable hard drive and or ram. Some people say theres only have a replaceable hard drive and then others say they don't. Then there are a few people that say there's a ram slot on the board but when I look at pictures of the motherboard they are very inconsistent as well. Going by the configuration page I'm going to guess the M3 configuration has the upgradable RAM because it's the only one that says it has single channel 4GB DDR3L 1600 (4GBx1). But I want to make sure that's right before I buy. Is there anyone that confirm this is true?

i would like to replace LCD screen on my XPS1640 laptop (from 2009, ati 3670 model). Now i have an HDready display and i would like to change it to HD.
I can find many used screens, but i don't know how to identify the correct one via part number.
Can you suggest where i can find the correct part number (5 digits)?

Two issues I've had since I got this thing years ago. To repeat an earlier post that was never sufficiently resolved:
I noticed that half the time, when i plug in my adapter to charge my laptop while I'm using it, it goes to sleep. I know it's asleep because (a) the fan stops running and (b) it's woken up quickly using typical methods to wake a computer. Anyone got a clue about how to prevent it from auto-sleeping? Thanks!
Add to that: the video freezes up when watching various videos - youtube, dvd's, VLC player, anything where the screen is showing a video.
Both are a constant nuisance and the recommendations of updating the bios, all drivers and such are a waste of time. On the power issue, should I replace a part on the motherboard or add something?
I'd like an answer. If I have to "replace the motherboard" please share a model that will fit and work properly but will NOT be a 5558 because I don't want to have to go through that and sill have the same issues. At this point wanting to brick it and get an HP laptop.

in my company we have both latitude 3340 with wifi card ac 7260 and latitude 3350 with wifi ac 7265.
The 3340 wifi speed can go 40 Mbps in both download and upload while the 3350 goes maximum at 25 Mbps in download and 10 Mbps in upload.
I tried the speed test with both 2.4 and 5 ghz bands with multiple laptops.
Is it a know issue with wifi ac 7265 card ?

I have erratic mouse movement and keyboard issues from these external components when used through the dock via the USB ports. I have an E-Port Plus II dock. If I leave the laptop slightly open the issues go away.

Hi, I'm looking at buying a refurbished Dell Windows 7 laptop, was under the impression that the hard drives were partitioned such that the Windows 7 OS was in a smaller 50 GB C: drive, and that the D: drive contained the rest of the drive's space for all the programs I want to install.
Can someone here please let me know if this is true; or whether the hard drive is partitioned (like my current HP) with a large C: drive with Windows residing on it in it's own Windows folderas well as including ALL the data/program space available, and only a D: drive for Windows repair reboots (VERY small)

I have a Dell Inspiron 5558, that comes with a GeForce 920m graphic card.
The graphic card's specifications say that it can go with resolutions up to 3840 x 2160.
Until a couple of days ago, I was using a 23'' monitor connected through HDMI, using a 1920x1080 resolution. Today I bought a 27'' monitor, and I was hoping I could set a higher resolution, but I can't.
Maybe I'm a bit confused of how the resolution thing works.
The problem is that, after moving from a 23'' screen to a 27'' screen I was hoping to have more desktop space, but instead I have just everything larger, I mean, there isn't additional desktop space, just the same as before, but larger (as if it were zoomed in).
Both monitors are 1920 full hd.
I'm a bit confused, I don't know if I should be able to set a higher resolution or not, giving that the monitor is 1920. But if that's the case, what would be the point of a 32'' monitor if it only goes up to 1920? Everything would be just bigger, larger, as zoomed in.
I was hoping to have more desktop space with this new monitor, considering that I have the GeForce 920M that goes up to a larger resolution.
Is that possible?
Hello, so I have a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Series 7559 laptop and today as I was using it the keyboard stopped working. Nothing on the keyboard worked except for the touch pad. I figured I would just restart it so I went to restart it and then as it began to restart it began an update for Windows 10. But, it became stuck on 0%, and has been for over an hour now. I tried shutting it down again but the power button doesn't work, along with everything else on the keyboard. Does anyone know what to do to fix it?
My laptop is 5 years old, as battery needed replacement so I bought a new J1KND battery the service center person told me that it will give a backup of 3hrs but as I charged it fully it is draining very fast it for not give even 1hr backup. ? Please help me to fix it

I'm a hs student and i'm think of getting the xps 15 w only 256 gb ssd. I want to use the laptop mainly for school/college (later) and for moderate gaming (overwatch, csgo). Will 256 be enough?
I have an Inspiron 5000 with no service tag sticker.
The device won't even make it to the BIOS.
I've chatted with Online Support and called more than one Dell number, and none of the customer service people can actually provide customer service.
How can I get the service tag number off this laptop? Under the battery is a white sticker with a 13 digit number, but the agents have told me this is a number for the battery itself.

Recently first 2 rows in keyboard are not working, that is function keys and number keys and some other keys.... I hve formatted OS and reinstalled it, after that also keyboard is not working, I hv tried with connecting USB keyboard, even with USB same keys are not working. . What may be the problem?? I am having inspiron 15R 7520SE with 6 GB RAM, I do not understand why my laptop is running slow.
I found that the CPU load remains only 20 to 3- % MAX but RAM reaches to 80%.
Even in the ideal condition alos RAM usage is too much. It should not go beyound 20% but in ideal it goes to 80-90%.
Dont know which background process is doing it.
Kindly support, I cannot format my system all the time.

My Inspiron 5520 will not power on. When I plug the power adapter in the green LED goes out. I've tried holding the power button down for over 30 seconds with the battery in and out. I've tried other Dell power leads but have the same problem. Other web searches suggest that the motherboard needs replacing, is this correct? It looks like plenty of other people have had the same problem, so there must be an answer, please help!
