    I purchased two almost identical Dell XPS laptop, one 15" and one 13", for the purpose of back up each other.  If one computer is down, the other is still running.  The 15" runs fine, the 13" with the same hardware set up is full of problems.  The 13" wireless keep drop in and out of the wifi while the 15" has no problem at the same location.  The 13" keep have this notification "dell update ready to install".  After the install, the computer is crashed 5 times with blue screens.  Both computers are 3 months old, and I asked Dell to send  a replacement while they could repair the 13".  I keep sending them the pictures of the crash blue screen. But they refuse to send me a replacement.  Dell insists they will send a technician to my place for the repair.  That means I cannot work for that day: I travel and visit client as my job.  I have worked on it for 4 hours. How many hours do I need to work to fix the *** computer?

    I will keep everyone posted of this.  And every time when the computer crash, I am going to make a call and ask for replacement.  Lets see how many times I should try to get any answer.

    I've just purchased an Inspiron 15 5000 series 5570 laptop with the Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8550U Processor and Dual drives with 128GB Solid State Drive+ 1TB 5400 rpm Hard Drive. I need to know if this has an M.2 slot compatible with NVMe (PCIe 3.0 x4) as I'd like to put in a Samsung EVO 960 NVMe M.2 SSD.

    Is the 128GB SSD that comes with this a SATA drive? 

    I've seen that some Inspiron 15 5000s that come with the i7-7700HQ processor come with 512GB PCIe NVMe M.2 Solid State Drives. Does this use a different motherboard?

    Hi. I've bought a Latitude September 14, 2016, which have Intel HD Graphic 520 display card. 

    I connected the laptop to an external display monitor (via HDMI port) which have 2560x1440 max resolution(Hansung monitor), but I can't choose the highest solution for it(I can only choose 1920 x 1080).

    What is the problem, even I have the newest version of Display driver? 

    If someone knows how to fix it, could you let me know, please?

    Yesterday i got 7-8 auto shut down. So i was looking for a solution. Thats why I ran diagnostic test. The result are followings;

    Hi, I switched on my Laptop running on battery as it was plugged in to the mains before and suddenly all the text and icons and fonts are small BUT ON WEBSITES, NOT the Desktop.

    I have not installed anything recently.

    I tried the magnifier but it does not look right.

    I just bought my new pc and every time I use it after a small period of time it crashes giving me this blue screen. I tried reinstalling windows but the error still there. What am I supposed to do?

    Hello, I have a problem with my Dell XPS 13 9350, FHD edition. My laptop sometimes wakes up in airplane mode. And it sometimes wakes up even though the lid is closed, so when I take my laptop in my hands, it is hot and the battery is drained.

    It does this behavior sometimes, like 30% of the time. But it is really annoying since I cannot trust that my laptop will be fully charged when I need it.

    I tried following solutions:

     - I updated all my drivers, including BIOS.

     - I fiddled with almost every setting in power options.

     - I changed my wireless card to a better known model (Intel 7260 or something like that)

     - I formatted my laptop and reinstalled Windows 10.

    Nothing helped, the problem continuous. So how can I solve this?

    Hello Everyone!

    I bought an open box Dell Latitude E5470 today at a very cheap price. Unfortunately this laptop had a non backlit keyboard and a TN (1600 x 900) panel but it had the much needed 6300HQ, so I went ahead and bought it thinking that I can always buy a backlit keyboard later from aliexpress. I looked at aliexpress again today and noticed something I had overlooked before purchasing the laptop and that is that all backlit keyboards available for E5470 have a different shape thanks to the two stupid top mouse buttons that are not present in my variant of E5470. I now have to find a new top panel with frame that has the cutout for those two extra mouse buttons. This is a nasty situation for me as I am not even sure if the required top panel will be compatible with my variant of E5470. Any advise on what I should do?

    My Dell Inspiron 11 3168 just wouldn't come on, please what could be wrong? I've held on to the power button and I've tried to charge it. This happened all of a sudden, it was on hibernate mode before this happened.

    Hey, first time posting. Thanks in advance for any help. I really need it.

    My laptop:

    Dell XPS 15 9560 (4k+7700+1050+16GB RAM)

    My issue:

    Dell's customer service acted like they would help me and didn't after I spent literal hours proving there were issues with my model in a remote session and over the phone. I was offered only the answer, "There's nothing wrong with your computer".  After I got really upset, they sent out a technician who hardly did anything. Really disappointed in the company this time.

    Long arduous story made short, after being jerked around, I said screw it, who needs warranties anyway? I opened the laptop for visual probing because I know something is abnormal about my computer's behavior. I'm a seasoned technician, but any layman could see my issues are not software related. Anyway...

    Upon removing my motherboard, I saw the exploded capacitor (at least I'm pretty sure that's what it is) pictured here. I need to replace it obviously. I cleaned the electrolytic discharge and put the computer back together for now.

    I've googled extensively, read the service manual, and asked numerous people for input, but I can't figure out what that part is, or where to get a replacement, or just anything compatible. The number written right next to it on the board reads

    PQ222

    in case you couldn't see it. That's also happens to be the model number of an electric razor. That makes this really hard to research, and I'm grasping at straws now.

    Please, anyone that can help, I'd really appreciate your help. This really ***; having spent 1700 dollars on a high end computer, this problem is physically sickening.

    Before I start to talk about the Latitude 5285, let me explain another tablet that i having which is Dell Venue 8 Pro 5855. Dell Venue 8 Pro 5855 smart card reader(NXP chip) is able to connect by 3rd party library (github.com/.../pcsc-sharp), after connected, I can go on to scan card like MiFare Desfire 14443A and ISO/IEC 15693 13.56 MHZ.

     

    Recently, I bought this Latitude 5285. The smart card reader of Latitude 5285 is produced by Broadcom. The software that I created is not able to work with this smart card reader. There are 2 smart card readers under Device Manager’s Smart card readers category which are “Contacted Smart Card Reader” and “Contactless Smart Card Reader”.

     

    I have done tremendous researches on the internet.

    Some said that is because contactless reader by default is only for Pre Boot Authentication, 3rd part program is not allow to use it unless turn off something. This website (https://blog.g3rt.nl/enable-dell-nfc-contactless-reader.html) author is telling that Contactless Smart Card Reader need to turn off the CV Radio mode etc by using the Dell ControlVault driver DOS tool called ushdiag.exe.

    But I have checked the ControlVault driver of latitude 5285, there is no ushdiag.exe tool provided.

    I have checked this Latitude 5285 BIOS Setup. I did not see any related settings that i can deal with.

    Any approach to enable it? To me, it seems contactless reader is locked.

    Please help.

    I have a Dell Vostro with external speakers "Dell 2.0 Speaker System - AE2152"

    All hardware is about 11 months old. Speakers have never been dropped or damaged. All wiring looks in good condition.

    Problem: occasionally the external speakers will not turn on (the white LED will not show). If I disconnect the external speakers, the internal speakers work fine.

    When the speakers will not turn on, a reboot does not solve the problem. After a day or two, when I try to turn them on, they work OK for a few days.

    They don't fail while they are switched on. It's only when I switch the laptop on that I notice the LED might/might not not show.

    I would be grateful for any advice.

    I was wondering if the backlit keyboard (no point stick) of E5450 or E7470 is compatible with E5470? From the images I have seen the dimensions and mounting holes look identical to E5470's Keyboard (no point stick) .

    I have a question about Dell Latitude 7480: Can I install a SSD M.2 NVMe into DELL Latitude 7480? 


    I intend to buy this laptop and a SSD 512 GB NVMe for it.Just want to make sure because as I see in Dell latitude Laptop Specification, latitude 7480 's hard drive is "M.2 128GB SATA Class 20 Solid State Drive"

    I got a DELL Inspiron 7559 in July 2017. The rear left corner is already pulling a part at the seam. It doesn't seem to be the hinge, but it does pull further a part when opening and closing the screen. 

    I called DELL support. Even though the computer is only 5 months old, this problem isn't covered under warranty. 

    Online, it looks like several other 7559 buyers have experienced the exact same problem. It seems unethical of DELL to have a recurring manufacturing problem and refuse to repair it.

    Any suggestions on options to get the split repaired without spending $140?

    Hi everyone,

    I have a really annoying problem with my Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming laptop. Whenever I want to play games on it, the laptop fans start to make an unbearably loud noise that just doesn't let me play at all. This even happens with relatively old games with low system requirements, such as age of empires 3 and league of legends.

    This laptop is supposed to be good for gaming, but the fan noise problem makes playing video games virtually impossible. It looks like the computer is going to overheat and break down at any moment. I bought this laptop almost three months ago. Is there something Dell can do about my problem? Can I get a new laptop under warranty? Maybe it's just a specific problem with the one I bought.

    Hi,

    I have a question that I need answering.

    We as a company purchased one of your Vostro 1310 models in late 2009, since then we have hardly ever been able to use it due to the aforementioned Nvidia GPU failure. 

    My question is: Why as a repeat business customer  who purchased this laptop directly, why have we never been notified of this problem? Why did we have to find out about it from Google and not a product recall?

    I believe we paid around £600 for this laptop, that we have never been able to use? 

    Is there anything that can be done?

    My 7840's touch pad "One Finger Scrolling" functionality has become inconsistent.  It had been working fine by using the 'DellTPad.exe' application and selecting (if memory serves) 'one finger gestures'.  That option is now gone however one finger scrolling still works for awhile, and then fails and the only option to scroll using two fingers. A reboot fixes it for awhile then it starts all over again.  This problem coincided with a recent round of updates, though the touch-pad driver was not one of those updates. 

    Any ideas out there?
