I havedell inspiron 3520 i recently switch it off normally but today when i want to start it it can't start it make 4 beep sound nothing else . I use ur 30 sec method but it won't work what can i do my lappy is not in warranty

Maximum allowed RAM for Dell Inspiron 3420
Hi,
Please help me in finding out the maximum allowed RAM for my Dell Inspiron 3420.
It has two RAM slots and currently I am having 2 GB in a slot and 4 GB in another.
I would like to upgrade to the maximum limit that my laptop can allow.

Black Screen Until Boot
I have a Dell Latitude 3150 laptop with an odd problem. Whenever I go to power it on, the screen will stay black, almost off, until an operating system loads. Once it loads, the computer works as normal, but the dell splash screen, BIOS, boot options, diagnostic pre-boot screen, grubs boot loader, nothing loads. The only that wields before booting is the BIST for the LCD display (power and D key) it will test the different colors. Shut off, and turn back on, still to a blank screen.
I have the "grubs" loader installed, as I have both Windows 10 and Ubuntu installed on the laptop. When powered on, the power light and hdd come on, when it would be sitting on the grubs screen, the wireless light comes on. If I let it sit it loads Ubuntu, down key twice and it loads Windows, wireless light goes off then comes back, with the hdd flashing as you'd expect when booting.
In the beginning in was hit or miss, where it seemed cold booting would display the bios and splash screen and such, it used to always work after running the BIST display test, but recently it never displays. When using an HDMI cord and external display, everything shows. But I often don't have access to those, so is there anything I can do to fix these issues, as it would be nice not have to hold my fingers and hope it boots to yhe right OS every time I boot.

Can’t Restore from Image
Well Tech Support and I tried several hours to rebuild my new Precision 7720 boot disk to no avail. Followed instructions to prep the drives using diskpart and Clean and then install Windows image I downloaded from the website. Began boot process to the point of restore from external drive and kept getting the message Can’t find Volume for install or something like that. Any ideas?

Issues reinstalling Windows on Dell Inspiron 11 3162
I'm having trouble reinstalling Windows 10 on a Dell Inspiron 11 3162. I am able to boot to the USB drive that contains the installer and go through the steps to install up to the point of choosing the destination partition. I then run into this error:
"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computers hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disks's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu."
I've tried a number of fixes to get around it including:
- Going into the BIOS and changing SATA Operation, but the only option is AHCI.
- Changing the disk from GPT to MBR and vice-versa.
- Flashing the BIOS to the newest version.
All with no success. If anyone has any other ideas, I would greatly appreciate it.

XPS 13 8th gen i7 16GB RAM QHD+ Battery Issues 4hrs battery life tops
Hey there,
Yes you read it correctly: I have just received mine, which I purchased because of battery life and overheating and fan noise issues on the Dell XPS 13 i7 7th gen. The 8th gen was supposed to have solved all the issues the previous version was plagued with...
Well... I unboxed it, loaded all of my softwares, installed all the WIndows updates, Dell drivers, you name it. Charged it and started using it. When I unplugged the power cord, first estimate was 4hrs on the Windows battery indicator. Then I installed BatteryBar to have a more reliable estimator. Same.
Later on, I discovered a very strong and very loud fan. Unsurprisingly, the underneath was burning hot.
Got the support team on the phone, whilst I was talking with them, the fan kicked in and I even could give them a glimpse of how loud that was over the phone.
Has any of the lucky owners of the XPS 13 i7 8th gen come across similar issues?
Sometimes, I am just baffled by the world there is between the promise and the reality....

Update BIOS without Battery?
Hi
I want to update my BIOS
But it says that power supply AND battery must be plugged.
My battery died long time ago. So I had to pull it out, otherwise the laptop did not start.
What can I do to update the BIOS anyway?
How long will the update take? I know there is a risk if suddenly there is a power outage, which happens quite often. But if it just takes a couple of minutes, I might take the risk.

Fans spinning loud, Dell XPS 15 9560
Hi,
I have a Dell XPS 15 9560.
I updated the BIOS to the 1.5.0 version and since then, I noticed that the fans are spinning faster, even when the laptop is doing nothing. Right now, while I'm typing this, with nothing opened, just the web browser, the fans are spinning fast because I can heard them very clear.
My temps right now are 45-51c with just the web browser.
How can I fix this?

Can i upgrade to a WUXGA (1920x1080) Full HDpanel or even a QHD (2560x1440) ? I am worry about the pin and cabling layout

Dell laptop keeps freezing
My dell laptop Inspiron 5555 keeps freezing.around a month ago i had the issue of glitching the screen would show things twice in a weird green/purple colour but not it freezes all the time i watch a video it will freeze and i will be forced to restart i stop using it for 10 minutes it freezes.can u help me pls?

Help logging on to old Dell computer

I have a Dell XPS 200 from around 2005. I haven't used it in almost 10 years. I'm getting rid of some things lying around my apartment, and my old Dell is on that list. I want to log into it to see if there's anything that needs saving before I have the hard drive wiped, but I can't remember the password. (The password hint is not helping.) Does anyone know if there's anything I can do to bypass the password, or should I just call Dell?

Poor keyboard layout lately (Home, End, Page Up, Page Down)
Dell is my preferred laptop brand, but these shared keys on the arrow keys are unusable. I don't use desktops, so my laptop is my main workstation and I use these keys very often.
Ever since Dell got rid of the last row of buttons, I had to look for other options. They claim that it makes the laptop more compact, but there are still ample space on the sides. Look at the Dell Precision 5520 as an example - wide open spaces. I liked their older design much better with the shortened right shift button and full-size arrow keys and home, end, pg up/down in the last row.
I now have a HP EliteBook 1040 G3 instead. It's only 14", but comes with a much better keyboard layout. That was actually the deciding factor. It would have been a Dell otherwise.
I know many other people are also feeling the same way, so I hope R&D will address this. I'll gladly switch back to Dell once they do.

Fan constantly on when Dell XPS 13 A/C plugged in
Hey all,
Any clue why the fan gets crazy as soon as the Dell XPS 13 in on A/C?
I understand the system is "intelligent" enough to compensate the heat coming from the battery, by running the fan. But at start up? and on a constant basis?
Please help, and thanks in advance for any guidance you can provide.
P.S. I have played around the Dell Power Manager app to tweak the Thermal Management options, but nothing significant there.

Dell Precision M6800 - doesn't turn on.
Hello!
I've got a problem with Dell Precision M6800. Notebook doesn't turn on (only storage LED blinking). This problem fix only removing ram memory for a while and reinserting again - after this operation laptop start normally. But when I turn notebook off, the problem come back and I must make memory operation again. I made tests on 2 different types of ram memory.
Is the motherboard faulty?

Improve Disk Performance : DELL Inspiron 7737
My three year old Inspiron 7737 running Windows10 Home has ground to a halt mainly because of 50-100% ST1000LM014-1EJ164 disk utilisation. I was thinking about replacing this disk with a 500GB SSD however I do not have my original Windows8 media and associated license key (and this would need to be upgraded to Windows10 which I achieved free of charge). I currently have 643GB free of 913GB so this would be feasible if this could be achieved ideally without the need to purchase a Microsoft license and installing from scratch.
Is there a cost effective way of speeding up my laptop using my current licensed Windows10 OS?
