Hello,

I have a Latitude E7250 with a contactless smartcard/NFC reader. I have following questions:

1) Is it true that there is no longer ControlVault software for managing certificates under Windows 10, and everything is handled by native windows options?

2) What chipset is that?

3) What exact options are enabled? To be more specific, is *contactless smartcard* actually enabled? When I touch my Yubikey NEO to palmrest, it seems to read NFC tag. How can I switch to contactless smartcard functionality?

Hello 

    I have a new Insperon 11 3000 -  2 in 1 and it keeps freezing on me when I leave it for  a while. About hour or less. What can I do about it? I have restored it and done all sort of diagnostics and nothing.

I have Inspiron 5558 with the original BIOS  A02. I usually don't upgrade BIOS unless something is critical because it is somewhat risky.   The latest BIOS update is A14 and states it is a security upgrade.  Does anyone know what and how critical is the security update ?  How much risk it to update my BIOS from A02 to A14?  Anyway to reduce risk  such as Windows BIOS install or install intermediate BIOS versions incrementally to A14 ?

I'm looking to upgrade my wireless card, currently the specs are:

555-BBHH : Intel(R) 7260BGN + BT4.0 [802. 11bgn + Bluetooth 4.0, 2.4 GHz , 2x2]

Main reason to upgrade is to get a dual band radio and ideally gigabit speeds - what Intel options do I have - I can't quite figure out which are compatible but would love to be able to use one of the latest Intel gigabit solutions. Thanks in advance!

Does ANY Dell Active Pen or Bamboo work with the i7779 17" 2-in-1 laptop?  This laptop has a dedicated Nvidia chip and 2GB video ram.  My assumption is that it will work with a smartpen.  However, I ordered a pen and I don't think I am doing anything but smugging\scratching my brand new screen...   Why is it such a mystery which machine will work with a smartpen and which will not?   thanks, LT

I can't see how to enable the NetBIOS over Tcpip for the TB16 USB NIC.

I tried this and set it to 1-Enabled but it is still off. 

"NetbiosOptions"=dword:0 (to use DHCP settings)
"NetbiosOptions"=dword:1 (to enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP)
"NetbiosOptions"=dword:2 (to disable NetBIOS over TCP/IP)

wmic nicconfig get caption,index,TcpipNetbiosOptions

This returns "index number" (plug this into the next command):
wmic nicconfig where index="index number" call SetTcpipNetbios 1

Wondering if Dell has plans to make a XPS 15 with the 8th gen intel cpu.  I know they have the XPS 13 but was looking for something with a larger screen.

I just bought a 9-cell 97WHr slice battery for my Latitude E6430 because my normal battery only gives me 3 hours of charge on a good day.

When I went to connect it to the E-Port slot on the bottom of the computer, it did not register as a battery on the system, and whenever connected, the battery symbol on the top left of the keyboard blinks red repeatedly. What does this mean and how can I fix it?

Also, when I try to connect the laptop charger to the port on the slice battery, the same thing happens. Can someone please help me with this issue?

If it helps, my laptop runs a 2.7GHz Intel Core i7 processor with 16GB of RAM, and the OS is Windows 10 Pro.

Every time i boot up my computer from being completely off i get a Boot Failure i got round this by turning on the auto recovery in the bios and managed to actually get into windows but i have no idea why it does this it never did this before. how can i fix this annoying issue

Yesterday, after updating the Windows, the audio on my Alienware (17/R2) cannot work. Hence, I tried to download all drivers update on Dell Support website. It recommended me to update the BIOS from A06 to A09. After closing all programs and unplugged all the unnecessary devices, I started to let the update procedure happen. However, during the BIOS update, my laptop froze, fans continuously ran at max speed. I let the laptop at that situation for about 4-hours. After that, I tried for a hard reboot but cannot. Thus, I let the battery down for the laptop completely shut. Then, I tried to turn on the laptop but the screen went blank and nothing happened, even I cannot see the Alienware startup screen. My laptop looked like being bricked. 

Anyone can help me with this issue? I'm really appreciate cause I love my lap much and kinda worried.

Hey guys so I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 13 5000 series laptop. From a few days its been telling me to restart my computer to finish updating system firmware 1.2.1. Ive restarted plenty of times but the error wont go away. Can anyone help me out in what I'm doing wrong and what I should do?

I really want to change my primary storage. I want to transfer my Operating System to my blank SSD. but I don't know if I am going to void my warranty. Please tell me if I need to contact a technician or i can just do i myself. thanks!

Hey there, recently repaired a Studio 1555, has latest BIOS A13. Battery is removed. Plugging in the power adapter causes the screen to flash white briefly, but when powering on the system there is no image visible. Plugging in an external screen by VGA shows normal image and Windows boots fine. Powering on while holding the D button shows the RGB test pattern as expected. Any ideas why the screen isn't working in normal mode, but works during the test and with external monitor?

I am using dell Inspiron N5010. I am using this laptop for more than 5 years. The laptop worked flawlessly. last week i have changed my Operating system to Windows 10 and installed some drivers. Suddenly my laptop got restarted and keep on  producing beep sound. So manually i turned off my laptop. After a hour switched on my laptop the same beep sound is produced and display is not getting on. In my laptop except center indicator light both the lights have been turned on. Kindly provide a smart solution to get rid of this problem.

Hi.

I can't use function keys normaly. It seems like I can use only multimedia keys. I search BIOS and I don't have Function Key Behavior in System Configuration menu.

My laptop imspiron 7520 se  is shutting down repeatedly on its own showing an error  message every time. Mostly it's showing error messages like driver irql not less or equal, system service exception, reference by pointer. It is running Windows 10..At first I thought it was due to drivers compatibility issues which many users of windows 10 have. I reset the pc but it was of no use. Finally I reinstalled windows 7 home premium which the laptop originally had, before upgrading to windows 10 but was surprised to see the similar problems coming again. I ran Dell diagnostics both in windows 10 and 7 and except for dvd drive, all other components passed test. Can anybody help?

I am having an issue connecting to our companies secure, guest and our alternate wireless connection. It appears to be connected with 5 bars, but there is a yellow '!' and says unidentified network and no internet access. I have rolled back the driver, uninstalled the drivers and re-installed the latest drivers from Dell and the issue is still there. I then uninstalled the drivers, uninstalled the device from within device manager, re-installed the device and installed the latest drivers from Dell, but the issue is still there. Does anybody have any idea as to what I can do to resolve my connection issue? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

This and the fan kicks in like a jet engine. I heard there is a registry hack that will stop this. Anyone have any ideas?
