I recently got this laptop and am about to throw it away. Here are some issues with it:

1. The unit does not seem to go to sleep and uses the battery when the lid is closed. If I then disable the registry setting csenabled=0, the unit goes to sleep but then does not wake up and one has to hold down the power button and try at least a few times before it comes back on. My perception is that this model has some serious BIOS issues in how it handles power settings and wake up and in how long it takes to load the BIOS on startup (not Windows, the BIOS). 

2. Another issue is that at times, the CPU gets stuck at 0.4 or 0.5GHz and the computer is crawling slow. Very frustrating. 

3. No matter what HDMI connector I use including the TB15 docking station, the text on the secondary screen is grainy. 

I have been in contact with support multiple times and they have been useless. I have been using Toshiba laptops for close to 20 years now and never had such issues. 

My question is: do you all have similar issues and if so are there any remedies for such an expensive unit? I surely hope Dell engineering is paying attention and fixing the BIOS issues. And yes, I do have the latest bios and the latest drivers as of 10/19/2017 from Dell's support site.

About three months ago I bought a new Dell XPS 13. It worked good for a month and a half before dying, it wouldn't turn on or do anything. The college I am at has a dell warranty center so I took it there and after five weeks they finally decided to send me a new one (they said Dell was putting a new one together and would ship it out soon) Well this evening I picked it up and turns out they sent me a refurbished one rather than a new one, not great but I will take what I can get.

Here's the problem, if it actually is a problem, the Intel Core i7-7560 2.4 GHz (does not mention anything about a turbo speed) is running hot. It averages in the 70c's just with the web browser open(dell support/setup pages) not actively loading new stuff and has spiked well into the 90's without me doing anything on the laptop

Is this a problem? and sorry for the longwinded question

I have issue with my dell laptop. Laptop turns off and on automatically. This process continues repeatadily. Battery led indicator is not turning on, when battery is connected. So, please can anyone help me with this issue.

I have a 7480 [non-TB] connected to a WD15, that up and loses its Ethernet connection.  The BIOS, associated drivers and FW, are up-to-date, to the best of my knowledge.  Moving the Ethernet cable to the laptop, itself, serves as a workaround.

I have a new Dell Latitude E7470 laptop with the Pro3x Dock setup for dual monitors for  a user. The setup has been working great for several weeks. Starting last week the laptop began shutting down while docked, and after examining it, I discovered that the dock power supply is turning off? When plugged into the directly into a laptop however it works fine. Not sure if it is the dock or the power supply. I'm new to supporting Dell's, and was wondering if this is a common problem. By the way it is the big 130 watt power supply and not the smaller one that the goes with the laptop.

Hi Guys,

I cleaned up my tablet recently and installed new windows 8.1 os. 

I am facing two major issues and I cant find any resolution for that.

1. wi-fi drivers are not working. I downloade from the dell website but it gives me error.

2. My travel keyboard is not working. I can just see that tablet is showing it as second battery.

Please help me if anyone have answers for this.

My daughter went to use her laptop last night for homework, and by just opening the screen, the right hinge broke away from the laptop.  In research this issue, I've many people have had the exact same issue.  This laptop has not been dropped or abused.  When a hinge breaks under very light use - she uses it about 5 times a month - there is a problem with this design.  In every case I've seen - it's a hinge issue with the right one.  I called Dell, but they said it would be a cost to repair it.  This is crazy - it's clearly a defective design!!!!

Hi,

How I can recover original partition layout with recovery partition contains original windows with drivers?

Now only find tool named "Dell OS Recovery Tool". But this tool make usb stick with some tools that removes recovery partition from my SSD and install clean windows 10 without drivers.

This not useful for me..

My dell inspiron i 5558 keeps re-booting and also beeping 8 times continuously. Even the laptop screen is not coming up and I've to having the external monitor for it show the screen.  Let me know what is the fix for it.

Gretings all,

I'm an IT in South Florida and I'm trying to help a client with her Inspiron 5559 camera. She's had this laptop for a while and I haven't been over in quite some time, however a problem from before seems to persist on.

When the laptop was brand new, the integrated camera - an Intel RealSense 3D - worked fine. Used Skype without a hitch and even took pictures with the Windows camera app. A month or so later it stopped working altogether. No apps can detect it and when I check the Device Manager and try to update the driver it's reported as being the most current. I've tried uninstalling it and restarting the computer but the driver it reinstalls fails to do anything. It's been so long I figured this problem would've been fixed by now! I gave her a USB camera to use as a substitute but she's getting tired of having to carry it with her everywhere she brings the computer. I fear the camera or this particular unit is defective and she may have to get another brand of laptop instead.

Hoping to find some kind of help. Thanks!

My battery wound up dead after charging a while ago. So, I used the laptop without a battery with it plugged. Then it just shuts off as if it were over heating. Now, it never wants to come on. There are no lights indicating of life or charge and I tried different methods to bring it back to life but none work.

Hi, 

 

I have a Dell M6700

 

I can turn machine on but laptop screen is blank.

 

When I plug in VGA I can obtain video - although I do not know if this is on-board graphics or the Quadro M4000

 

For all I know, it could be:-

1. Graphics card is toast - needs replacing (£500 at least)

2. Screen - The screens on these have a  BIOS which is known to corrupt, meaning it needs to be replaced.

- The screen does not even glow, shimmer or backlight at all .. not a glimmer. 

3. BIOS - I think there have been some BIOS updates that cause issues.

 

I ran the built in ePSA Pre-boot System Assessment (by pressing Fn and Power button)

- Results were I could view in VGA monitor, but nothing interesting came up. 

 

A. What tests could / should I run

B. What could causes be, and how do I step-by-step uncover

I'm happy to work interactive and go back and try things out that people here suggest!

Hi, guys,

I have next setup: Dell Inspiron 7567 laptop, Dell D3100 docking station and LG Flatron e2360 monitor. And I have a problem with it.

The problem is related to video cards installed on the laptop. The laptop is equipped with Intel HD Graphics 630 and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti. And the problem is that laptop/docking station/whatever doesn't use NVIDIA card to display the picture on the second monitor. So, if I run game or movie on second monitor it's displayed using only Intel card. Problem doesn't appear if I connect everything directly into the laptop(I guess, it's a docking station problem). How to solve that problem?

Lately my Dell XPS M1710 laptop sounds scratchy and mushy, but the headphone sound great. I've uninstalled and installed High Definition Audio Devise Realtek several times, unchecked disable all enhancements and wonder if it's somehow related to the base system device missing and has an exclamation mark on it? I've searched all over online and can't find help.

yesterday i got the update info so i clicked on it to update my laptop but it wouldnt waited for couple of hours but it wouldnt. it didnt even begin it was at 0% for hours. so i forced turn it off... now the only things it shows is his dell logo and the black screen for 3 sec and then dell logo... pls help T.T

Hello Dell community, 

Sorry if I am not posting my question on the right place. I live in the Netherlands, and I am eagerly waiting to buy a XPS 13. However, there is one thing stopping me - the 8th generation Intel edition of the XPS 13 is only offered with 8GB ram only in the Netherlands.

Now this is a problem since I'm a developer, and you I need more than 8 GB ram to do my work. On the other hand I travel a lot and my laptop needs to be lighter. 

On the dell NL website the only edition of XPS 13 with 8th gen intel is with no more than 8 GB of ram. There is no clear way of contacting dell sales in the Netherlands, which makes the whole process difficult. Hence I decided to ask here. 

Should I wait for an XPS 13 edition with 16 GB of ram and the latest Intel? I was also looking at the Inspiron's series, but I do not know much about it, is it as light as the XPS?
