hi

I have dell inspiron 7559 and its ac adapter is 130 w (output 19.5V and 6.7A).now the problem is its not working and when I go to dell authorized service center they give me 180w instead of 130w power supply with same output 19.5V  but 9.23 A.

now I just wanna know that is it capable with my dell or not means is there any damage to the battery or anything happen to my laptop by changing 130 w to 180 w and 6.7A to 9.23 A.

I am just confused

XPS 15 9530 not booting. SSD can't be detected in BIOS.

Hello community

I have the Dell XPS 15 9530.

I've noticed writing speeds were pretty low which was around 25mb/sec and never above 30mb/sec.

I've faced 3 windows freezes in the past month. I've had to force shut down (by pressing power button till it turns off) in the first 2 incidents and things went back to normal after starting it again. I didn't turn it off in the 3rs incidence and I let it take it's time. I came back to the laptop like 15 mins later and I've found the laptop has restarted and not able to find an internal drive:

"Internal hard disk drive not found"..

BIOS can't detect the mSATA drive.

mSATA type:

Samsung PM851 mSATA 512GB

I was copying some large files from external hard disk to the laptop in almost all 3 incidents.

It might be due to bad sectors? What's the chance to recover the data?

BIOS version: A06

I've run PSA test and the only test it skips is the hard drive as it can't find a hard drive installed.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Thank you

My XPS 15 horror story

Ok Dell,

Here's the thing. I'm not a rich man and I don't have 3000$ just laying around. I have to work my behind off just to make that kind of money. I'm a creative freelancer and I have to travel around a lot so I need to have a powerful laptop that can keep up with my needs. So, just about a year ago (July 2016) a bought myself a XPS 15 UHD for around 3000 hard earned dollars, thinking I will get my moneys worth, because Dell is all about quality, well at least the people at Dell think so. But unfortunately this is not the case with my expensive laptop.

Since day one I was battling video driver issues, sound driver issues, display issues, BIOS issues...just to mention a few. But I held in there and some improvements were made through updates.

Skipping to a couple of days ago. I came home one night and turned on the laptop and to my  surprise on the screen there was a bundle of thin lines, couple of inches wide, on the left side of the screen. The laptop booted up, but the lines remained. After shutting the laptop down I tried to boot it up again but with no success. I took the laptop to a certified Dell workshop where they informed me that the motherboard AND led display were gone for good and that the repair would cost over 2000$!

We're talking about a laptop that's just a year and 3 months old, with no scratches on it because I took care of it better than I did myself since it was worth everything to me, my whole existence and in one day everything broke on it?? Quality? I don't think so.

In the past I owned laptops (no Dell's)  that were far inferior to the XPS 15 (by price and by performance) and I never took such good care of any of them like I did with this one and none of them gave up on me in this fashion like the Dell.

This is just sad because you would expect much much more from a 3000$ laptop. :(

Thank you and goodnight.

P.S. No more Dell for me and I'm certainly not going to suggest to my friends and co-workers to buy Dell products.

Cheers,

Disappointed customer

Inspiron 15 5577: Fan Noise

I just got this new laptop. The fans run full blast at all times. Even under little to no CPU/GPU strain.

I've updated BIOS and all other drivers available on Dell's website.

They quiet down for a moment when running diagnostic in BIOS, but they then go right back to full blast and BIOS diagnostics reports nothing out of the ordinary.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Inspiron 7000 Gaming (7577) - Problem adding 2nd hard drive

Hello, I'm basically having the exact same problem as referenced in this thread : http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/20021480

I received the laptop yesterday. It came with the 256gb Toshiba NVME SSD and an empty SATA slot. After updating windows and installing the latest drivers from the dell driver support page (included the latest bios, version 1.1.3) I turned off the machine and installed a Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD in the spare SATA slot. As in the referenced post when I turned the laptop back on the hard drive was not seen by the BIOS, Intel RST, or Disk Management within Windows. The BIOS is set at it's defaults which are UEFI and RAID I believe. I went through the Dell Diagnostic and no issues were found, the laptop performs perfectly except for this issue.

I'm happy to go through troubleshooting but in the linked post user ttmcmurry has really went all out documenting the issue so I'm not sure what I can add on that would be helpful.

Trackpad pushed up, battery may be swelling

Hey, I have an XPS 15 9550, bought it August 2016, and it was going great until a few months after my warranty expired August 2017. The trackpad start to push up for some reason, which made no sense to me because I can't push it up from the bottom of the laptop (obviously)

I started reading these forums and noticed everyone bringing up a point that the battery might be swelling. That sounds like an absolutely ridiculous problem for a $2400 laptop, but here I am facing the same dilemma as others.

I'm bringing this up now cause I want fresh suggestions, as the other posts seemed to be from months ago and maybe there are better solutions now. Any help would be appreciated, this isn't looking too good for Dell tho. This is my first laptop purchase, and it had a hefty price, only for it to veeeery conveniently act up AFTER my warranty wears out. I'm hoping I can get a better deal from Dell rather than forming over another $200 to buy a warranty

How to get my Inspiron 5767 to boot from USB?

As per the title, my Inspiron 5767 came with Windows 10 and I'd rather install Windows 7.

I have got a bootable USB drive with the Dell Windows 7 Professional installation files on but can't see anywhere in the BIOS that allows me to select the USB drive as the preferred bootable media.

Any help appreciated.

Dell Precision 7710 doesn't want to start

Hi,

Last day, I stopped working with my Dell mobile workstation and everything was fine. When I tried to launch it today it was blocked. Means that the power button was white for a couple of seconds and then turned off, and then for 20 to 30 seconds you cannot do the operation again. At the same time the screen remains completely black.

I tried to remove the battery, and then pressed for 30 seconds the power button but it wasn't effective.

Could you help me about that ?

Thank you,

Tristan

Dell 7577 fan curve

I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 7577 gaming laptop after dong alot of researching and watching reviews on gaming laptops in the 1000ish USD range. One of the major factors in deciding to go with Dell was the build quality and thermal design on the 7577. However, once I got in my hands and did some gaming with it I was slightly disappointed with it. And my biggest disappointment is the fan noise. Now I've already looked into it and my fans are working as intended. However they are annoyingly loud and the user has no way to customize the fan curve, or decide within a certain range how aggressive they want the fans to be. Most other manufacturers (Lenovo, MSI, Asus) Have some utility to customize fan speed in some way.

It seems the fan curve is set up to keep the thermals of the CPU and GPU to 60C. Upon monitoring the temperatures while gaming, as soon as the GPU or CPU pass 60C the fans go into max speed becoming whiny and loud. 60C is a good number, I personally like my components cool, but 65C and even 70C is not an unsafe number. And extending the temperature limit up by 5C would greatly reduce fan noise.

Also the fans take far to long to ramp down after even a short 30-60minute gaming session. Even setting the power setting to power saving, reducing the CPU to 800mhz and even after the CPU and GPU are sitting at low 40s the fans sit at max speed for 5-10 minutes. The chassis of my laptop is warm to the touch on the top and bottom but not uncomftably hot.

This seems to be Dell being overly cautious. And it would be nice to see some sort of customizability for the user. Having an enjoyable experience is a big part of gaming.

Black screen after logo with blinking underscore, nothing is working

Before any bashing lectures, yes ive searched google for days on this issue and no fix or shortcut key is working. Its a dell studio from 2008, hard drive is only a year or 2 old. Ive tried changing around bios in f2, resetting defaults, every boot option in f12 gives me the same screen. Diagnostics do not start at alk, same black screen with the underscore. Ctrl alt delete restarts the whole thing, fn and power button doesnt do anything. No i didnt do anything to my comp, turned it on one day and it goes to black screen underscore after dell logo. F8 doesnt work, trust me that shortcut has NEVER EVER worked. Ive hit every single f and number key there is, nothing works. Just f2 and 12 but theres nothing there. Ive tried a recovery disc and it never starts, yes ive used cd boot option in f12 plus changing bios ordet, same black underscore screen. Ive takenout everything but the power cord, even battery, same thing, it doesnt even give me any error sunce the battery was out. Ive tried it all belueve me. Also since my warrenty is up, dell refuses to do anything, i cant get the email info or use the live chat. If its a straighr motherboard issue can someine just confirm it, ill replace thibgs myself.

Inspiron 15 3543 slow

For the past couple months, my laptop has been operating slow.  Any application I open has taken longer than usual to open. Last weekend, I downloaded and installed the latest Windows 10 update and now applications are taking longer to open. I ran diagnostics and ran scans and cleared the temp files and defrag, and checked for updated drivers.  I don't know what else I can do.

Any help would be appreciated.

I should be getting at least 40 Mbps and get that speed on my MacBook and Desktop, they are located far away in other rooms while my Dell is just 5 feet away from router. I have troubleshooted myself and ran the Dell system diagnostic:

ST Microelectronic Driver question

Dell Vostro 3560 recently clean install of Win 7 Pro 64bit.

Installed drivers as advised for service tag including ST Microelectronics Free Fall Sensor Driver (Systems Utilities) Version: 4.11.0018 ,A01

Device Manager has  STMicroelectronics 3-Axis Digital Accelerometer listed as working properly, but above it, it also has listed: ST Micro Accelerometer by which is a yellow "!"  This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

Is the nonworking device just an old version? If so, do I uninstall or disable?

Orrrr... is it another aspect of accelerometer that I need to find drivers for? If so, where?
