Ok Dell,
Here's the thing. I'm not a rich man and I don't have 3000$ just laying around. I have to work my behind off just to make that kind of money. I'm a creative freelancer and I have to travel around a lot so I need to have a powerful laptop that can keep up with my needs. So, just about a year ago (July 2016) a bought myself a XPS 15 UHD for around 3000 hard earned dollars, thinking I will get my moneys worth, because Dell is all about quality, well at least the people at Dell think so. But unfortunately this is not the case with my expensive laptop.
Since day one I was battling video driver issues, sound driver issues, display issues, BIOS issues...just to mention a few. But I held in there and some improvements were made through updates.
Skipping to a couple of days ago. I came home one night and turned on the laptop and to my surprise on the screen there was a bundle of thin lines, couple of inches wide, on the left side of the screen. The laptop booted up, but the lines remained. After shutting the laptop down I tried to boot it up again but with no success. I took the laptop to a certified Dell workshop where they informed me that the motherboard AND led display were gone for good and that the repair would cost over 2000$!
We're talking about a laptop that's just a year and 3 months old, with no scratches on it because I took care of it better than I did myself since it was worth everything to me, my whole existence and in one day everything broke on it?? Quality? I don't think so.
In the past I owned laptops (no Dell's) that were far inferior to the XPS 15 (by price and by performance) and I never took such good care of any of them like I did with this one and none of them gave up on me in this fashion like the Dell.
This is just sad because you would expect much much more from a 3000$ laptop. :(
Thank you and goodnight.
P.S. No more Dell for me and I'm certainly not going to suggest to my friends and co-workers to buy Dell products.
Cheers,
Disappointed customer
