Hi all,
I'd like to upgrade this beautiful old classic, but there seems to be some discrepancy as to how far it can be pushed. I gather it's a Socket P? Some sources say it can go only to Core 2 Duo T9900 3.06ghz. Other websites say it can be upped to Core 2 Quad, or even Core 2 Extreme. Which is correct? Thanks!

Battery Issue
Hello to all community,
I bought some Latitude E7240 ( 30 units ) and some of them ( 7 ) has been swollen until they not fit the place on the laptop.
After talking with Pro Support, they told me that the Warranty on Batterys is just one year, and I have to buy a new one.
Do you think that this is normal on a battery? i'm attaching the pictures of two of that Batteries.
The solution for Dell is to but new batteries, so i have to spend about 150/200€ for each one.
What you will do? do you think that this is a normal issue?

E6430 wifi card upgrade possible?

Dell xps15 9550 bios 1.4.0 problem resuming encrypted drives
Hi,
I recently update my bios to the latest 1.4.0 version. Now after entering sleep mode (due to closing the lid) and resuming my disk (/home) is not populated correctly. I'm using linux debian 9.
I use an internal nvme flash disk as root filesystem w/o HW encryption security and that disk is resumed ok. On a secondairy ssd disk using hw encryption as which serves are my home partition, after bios update this partition is not resumed correctly. The disk is there but the encryption password is not set so the disk will not work. After reboot and typing the password the disk is usable again.
On the previous bios 1.2.14 this setup was working fine, when upgraded to 1.4.0 this started to fail.
In the release notes of 1.4.0 there are bugs fixed with password security for encrypted disk so I assume this is why behavior has changed, but this introduces bugs on my system. Is there anyway to fix this? or a newer version of the Bios available?

Dell Inspiron 3542 keyboard problem
I am experiencing too much problem of my laptop keyboard.
1) Whenever I adjust the brightness of the screen using the inbuilt brightness keys which are F11 and F12, on the desktop the top left icon gets selected and when I refresh the desktop it again gets selected. Due to this I am also experiencing scrolling problem. Whenever I scroll down a page using the Down arrow, it doesn't let me scroll down and even if I manage to scroll down, the page goes up again. The arrow keys don't work properly.
2) When I press any key from the numpad, the cursor shifts to the extreme left of the sentence while typing.
Please help me because I am learning programming on this laptop and it is very important for me to practice it. So please reply back with a solution as soon as possible.
I am running Windows 10 Home Single Language 64-bit.

Latitude E5530 non v-Pro / Intel AMT Vulnerability
When scanned with Intel's SA-00075 vulnerability tool, the Dell Latitude E5530 non-vPro model is flagging as vulnerable, even with the latest A18 BIOS revision installed.
I've heard conflicting information as to whether or not the non-vPro model of the E5530 is affected.
- I did a Dell chat with basic support and the tech told me I would need to contact Intel.
- Intel told me even though it is non-vPro, it could be vulnerable to AMT and to contact Dell.
- Our vendor told me that the SA-00075 tool actually detects the vulnerability and Dell must not have a BIOS available that patches it. They advised performing the mitigation techniques for models that do not have a BIOS that patches it and the documentation included with the SA-00075 tool gives these techniques.
Is the Latitude E5530 non-vPro model with an A18 BIOS vulnerable to the Intel SA-0075 vulnerability?

hy, i m amna shabir from Pakistan. i have a dell inspiron N4050 laptop which is awarded to me through the nawaz sharif youth initiative scheme in 2012. my laptop was working quite well but sometime ago it stops working. and now when ever i turn it on it demands the system password which i dont know about that which thing is that or which is its system password.kindly help me to on the laptop because i have to close my thesis work as soon as possible.

How do I set a boot password. I don't want to allow people to boot my laptop if it gets stolen
I've used BIOS passwords before to prevent my computers from being booted if they were stolen. It's been over 2 years since I done that and it was only with HP and Sony devices. I'm asking how to set a password to prevent my Dell XPS 15 9560 from booting without a password. I already took a look at the firmware, but thought I'd ask here to be sure.
I wasn't sure about everything, but I would like to know how it went with you.

Explosion sound while tapping Ctrl+2 in Dell Alienware 17 R4
Hi, I work Dell Alienware 17 R4 in Adobe Illustrator and often use Ctrl+num2 keys and every time i press this keys, it makes explosion sound - does anyone know how to turn it off?
I tried to find info about this on forum and in other places and nothing, just stuff about macro keys. Thanks.

Hard drive not installed-- laptop
My laptop got really hot and froze a few days ago, no visible affects, but it is now extremely slow in starting Windows 10 and while I have gotten it open since, I've been having trouble getting to my desktop again. I was told to run diagnostics (F12 at start up) and it says "Fail PSA V4220 Error 2000:0155. Hard Drive - Not installed". Everything else came back normal. I ran the BIOS screen and the hard drive was listed. I even tried removing and making sure the hard drive looked okay. I also tried removing RAM. Laptop is latitude E6430 and I bought it refurbished last year.

Dell 7720 17R Samsung EVO SSD addition, not HDD replacement
Hi all,
I read a number of forum pages including here and still didn't manage to find an answer to my questions, hence this post.
The machine is running Windows 10 and doesn't have an mSATA at present, HDD is 1TB.
So, I purchased an EVO 250GB SSD and want to add it to my laptop and use the HDD for storage and some other programs. I know the best thing to do is to put the SSD in the primary slot and move the HDD to the secondary (currently empty). In the end, I want to move only the C drive onto the SSD and keep the rest as is. My questions are:
Can I do this procedure without the use of a SATA to USB cable but simply benefit from the 2 slots to do the transfer? If yes, what sort of sequence should I follow (e.g. back up whole system, use Samsung CD/software, move HDD to 2nd slot, add SSD to 1st slot, put in CD again to do migration, use anoter software(?) to delete C drive from HDD, etc. or in a different order, etc.)?
Is it in fact possible to migrate just the C drive or everything has to be moved (i.e. in this case, info from HDD would have to be deleted because it's more than the capacity of the SSD)?
Do I need to defrag or format anything?
What BIOS settings do I need to do and when (right after swappig the HDD with SSD so it can boot up and I can finish the migration?)?
Would very much appreciate any help!

Dropping cell phone on the keyboard caused hard drive failure?
Dropped my cell phone on the right hand side of my keyboard and in front of the keyboard and my laptop instantly rebooted. Each time I reboot, it takes a very long time. When I finally login, I can see all my files but they take long to open. I did the F12 diagnostics and it gave me error message: 2000-01 42 for my hard drive not working.
It seems so strange that dropping something so light on my keyboard could cause this much damage! Could there just be something that disconnected? Is there anything I can do to save some recent photos from my computer? Any recommendations on saving files or restoring function would be appreciated!
