Hi,

I have a XPS 13 (9350) and recently discovered that my trackpad & certain keys were slowly being raised out of place due to a swollen battery. The laptop is already out of warranty by a few months. As a precaution, I removed the battery and have been working off AC ever since.

As an alternative to purchasing a new internal battery, would the Dell Power Companion (12000 mAh - PW7015M) be a suitable alternative? Would I be able to plug this accessory into my battery-less laptop? Or do you need an actual functioning internal battery installed? I'm only mobile (without AC) for a few hours per month so carrying an additional accessory around wouldn't be a big concern for me

When I am going to start my laptop,there was a black screen and 3 beep sound and I called customer care and they said that mother board problem and it costs 15000, should I replace.?

My Dell Inspiron is not turning on. But when i press the power button it starts beeping. Gives 7beeps. What do i do, any solution?

Hi,

I just get the Dell 7567 gaming notebook yesterday and experiencing some issues.

My configuration is:

i7 7700HQ,

GTX 1050 Ti,

128 GB SSD,1TB HDD,

16 GB 2400 MHz ram,1080p screen.

Windows 10 64 Bit

Problem is 1050 Ti not working properly. When I run Unigine Valley benchmark It shows me system uses 1050 Ti but nothing changes on graphics card,clock rates are same with idle and temperature is same too, so it seems its not using but on the benchmark screen shows 1050 Ti not the Intel gpu. I also have same issue when I launch MSI AfterBurner. Issue video :

Hi Everyone,

In am considering installing a 2TB SSHD as my 2nd HD on my Dell E7440 Latitude.

Looking at the cost of SSD drives I feel this would be a better bet, but I can't seem to find any articles to suggest that this has been done.

Looking forward to responses.

Hi all,

Currently running a Dell Latitude 5480 through a WD15 Dock. I have two monitors but can't get both to display. The dock itself has a number of connection options however it doesn't have two VGA ports. If I connect one of the monitors to the VGA port that works ok. If I use an adaptor on the other VGA monitor to plug into the HDMI port on the dock it doesn't detect it on the Latitude.

Anybody successfully managed to get two VGA monitors to connect using the WD15, and if so how did you manage it?

April 10th I bought the laptop (Inspiron 13, 7000, ID 00325-96045-31976-AAOEM) and since then I have been trying to find a connector for the USB 3 C to Ethernet, have tried several and none has worked, last one was the Dell DAC 200, now I find that new laptops does not have the USB3 type C, they have the big USB 3, so the complaint and question is if I am going to be able to use the USB3 C outlet or not. 

Please provide a solution as I need to be able to connect trough an Ethernet port.

Good to mention that that last June computer stop working and was send for warranty claim and return 2 weeks ago.

Today I accidently turned off internet on my laptop with Fn+F2, I went to turn it on, and even though it came up as On, the wireless Network list said 'Wi-Fi (Off)'. I've tried loads of stuff to fix it, but every time it's come up with the same answer; 'turn on wireless capability'. help :\

I am running a Dell Studio 1749, windows 7 64-bit os, Intel i3,  6gb installed, 5.68 gb usable, 300 gb hard drive. Windows experience index 4.5 rating. Frequently while on the internet I receive notification that my memory is low and I need to close the web site I am on. I am running just a few programs on the computer, continually clear the hard drive of unnecessary information. Do I need a new or bigger hard drive, increased memory modules,  or reinstall windows?

Well, it's a little more involved than that. The first thing I did was try to make the computer into a dual-boot Linux Mint 18.2/Windows 10 machine. I screwed up the partitions a little bit and, even though I could have lived with it, I decided to wipe both operating systems from the computer and start over.

After reinstalling Windows, of course, I went to dell.com and updated every driver and downloaded everything recommended for my machine (including the BIOS). I also went to Microsoft.com and downloaded the Creators Update. 

After all of this was said and done, Windows Hello worked for a little while (literally less than a day) and it hasn't worked since. It fails every time I turn Windows on, and when I go to "Set up face sign-in" it tells me "Sorry something went wrong" and "Close Windows Hello, and then try going through the set up again."

One clue is that when I go to Device Manager, I do not see "Biometric Devices." I've searched the web for solutions to that problem, but they were for Windows 7 and don't appear to have any relevance to my situation.

P.S., Even though it may seem that I'm a major geek, I'm actually pretty weak when it comes to Windows problems.

Hello,

My E7440 with touch, fresh out of warranty, decided to flicker randomly the screen on/off and with vertical lines.
I contacted a Dell service partner in my country, brought a new display assembly and that got installed today.

The problem is that 5 minutes after Windows was actually on, the display was off forever after. The display is active only between boot and Windows start.

Until now, I tested the following:

Windows 10 Pro x64 15063.483 (working previously)
- the first startup after display change, Windows used a Compatible driver
- the moment that a Microsoft provided "Intel" driver installs, the screen is off forever.
- Dell provided drivers (Intel HD 4400) - no longer install - "No Intel GFX HW found".
- Windows and Intel applet cannot see the LCD panel.
- It works only with "VGA Compatible Controller".

Windows 7 Ult x64 (working before W10, had the SSD)
- startup after SSD change - auto restarts before logon screen.
- removed the Intel driver from Safe Mode and Windows starts.
- the Dell provided drivers (Intel HD 4400) installs. The moment they install, the screen is off forever.
- It works only with "VGA Compatible Controller".

I'm using the latest BIOS, A21.

What I'm thinking: either something got broken, or the replacement panel is so "new", the BIOS or video drivers or someone does not recognize it as compatible with E7440.

Any idea what I should try next ?

Hey!

I have the Dell Inspiron 15 3542 laptop computer. Recently i upgraded my BIOS from the official dell support and download page. New version is "Dell Inc. A12, 13.05.2016". After i got the upgrade i couldn't turn on my computer just by pushing the power button. Instead i have to push and press the button, hold it for a couple of seconds, let it go and then push the button again to turn it on.

Is that a setting that i can change and restore it or is it something that comes with the new BIOS and it can't be changed?

Hello together,

hope some one has an idea.

We have an Precision 7710 which often, e.g. after returning back to the docking station, doesn't recognize the USB devices like mouse, keyboard and wireless headset anymore. These are connected to the docking station.

In the device manager are then a lot of unrecognized devices also.

We changed already the docking-station, no effect.

We tried to uninstall / install USB device drivers.

We made BIOS update.

Dell support changed the main board, that had no effect either.

The device got reimaged, then it worked for two weeks.

Now the problem reappeared. The user has no administrative rights, no installations have been done in the mean time. He only worked with the laptop, e.g. connected USB sticks, a Nokia phone and a 3D mouse. 

I got it running again by deleting the unknow devices in device manager, then docking again. But after some minutes and undocking / docking the problem appeared again.

We have the same Laptop with same installations at other places with no problems.

Dell hotline says now I have to reimage again, it is probably a software error.

Is it really possible that connecting some USB devices can break all USB ports at the docking station?

Probably we will reimage one more time and take care then which devices we will connect. 

But I don't really know what to do then. I fear the problem will appear at random again.

Windows 10 64-bit is used.

I have a new 15-7568 2 in 1 and it is giving me some issues. When the lid is closed, no matter what it is supposed to do when closing the lid, sleep, shut down or nothing, the display will not come back up. The PC is active (some of the time, other times it is fully off), but cannot be shut down or opened. I am having to remove the back plate and remove the replace the battery and then boot the PC. Any ideas?

After noticing the trackpad being very lifted (>2mm), I began to search online for possible reasons and found out that many other people have complained about the swelling battery. I opened up the laptop and indeed the battery is bulging like a balloon. All these happening to me right when I am rushing to complete my thesis.

Spoke to Dell online chat service officer and was simply told to contact technical support in UK (I am studying in UK). I am having my fingers crossed after reading many other users' experiences about poor or non-existent help from Dell. Worse still, I am looking for sources to purchase a replacement battery as a last resort in case my call with Dell ends up in despair, and there is none that seem to be reputable or reliable.

Sharing my problem here for the benefit of those yet that come across the same problem, and if I'm lucky, get some help from Dell or fellow users as well. Seems that Dell has not been acknowledging the problem or helping users in this matter which is pretty apparent a battery defect issue. Dell should get its battery supplier to rectify or replace all these problematic parts. It is not just a reputation issue, it is a big safety risk! (I have kids)

I have a 7567 with the Toshiba 512gb nvme drive. I tried to install a Micron MX100 ssd in the extra 2.5" drive bay but it's not detected in the bios, windows 10 disk manager, and intel rapid storage technology menu in the boot menu. Must I use AHCI in the bios (was shipped with raid) and (reinstall?) switch to ahci drivers for Windows 10? Or is there a way to enable the second drive without touching the Toshiba?
