The cursor jumping is driving me mad too! I hate to say this, but it's not only a DELL problem. My ACER netbook has the same problem, it is currently with my Tech Guy. I am on my DELL laptop & currently going mad with the problem. DELL resolved it a few months ago over the phone, now it's back big-time. HELP!

New Inspiron 17R/Win8 Intel Storage gobbling memory...
Hi, all! Brand new 17R, Win8 pre-installed. Looking into task manager for info on unrelated item, notice that the Intel Rapid Storage Driver (IAStorDataSvc) is sitting at a constant 28-34% memory usage. Current driver installed is 11.5.x, Intel has 11.6.x out. Is this a known issue, or is something bonkers on this model Inspiron, or.. ??

Major Issues reported, but can't contact support
Hi there
I have run the Dell PC Diagnostics, and it's showing some critical errors with memory, CPU and video card. So I tried to contact support via email (because it's past midnight here and I don't want to get on to the phone)
But I am told when I enter my Service Tag
"We are unable to verify the service attached to the Service Tag or Express Service Code you have entered. Please verify your entry. If you recently purchased a system, please try again in 48 hours or contact us by phone."
Also on my diagnosis page I can see this:
"Sorry we appear to have an issue with one of our services (ASQ) , please wait a few minutes and try again."
Well I've been waiting 20 minutes and no luck.
Any ideas?

Windows 7 Pro on Inspiron 11 3000
I just bought a pair of Inspiron 11 3000's and am almost finished "down" grading the o/s from Windows 8 to 7 Pro. I have all of the drivers loaded and working except for a Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller (listed under Other devices). Can anyone help me find the Windows 7 driver for this? The Unknown Devices program shows it as Dell and Intel Corporation.

My INSPIRON N5010 laptop shuts down suddenly when it is on ac power without battery. I have updated my BIOS setup and checked the temperature , there is nothing wrong with them. Please help me. Is it a hardware problem? What should i do to solve it?

Dell inspiron 5520 charger not working?
Hi, I turned on my laptop today (Dell Inspiron 5520), and noticed that the charger wasn't working. The only way the charger will work is if I keep pressure on it while pushing it in while holding very still. Is this a problem with my charger or my laptop? If its a problem with my laptop, what is wrong with it and how much will it cost to fix it? Also, how long is the warranty for these computers? In my system information it says my computer was used first on 3/16/12. If there is a warranty is mine still good? Please respond soon for my laptop is dying and I have no working charger!

Screen Resolution Studio 1557
I have a Studio 1557 with the HD screen running Win 8.1. Recently I installed the Bionix Wallpaper Changer software that I also run successfully on my desktop. Surprisingly, on the laptop the program always tiles the background because it thinks the screen resolution is less than 1920 x 1080. It reports the resolution as 1536 x 864. The software author sent me a "ruler" which indeed reported the lower resolution. Are there TWO resolutions on my laptop?

McAfee Security Advisor
I have an Inspiron 15 R Special Edition running Windows 8. The Win8 tile view has a double-wide tile named McAfee Security Advisor. When I select it, a screen appears with the message that "Security Information Not Available. There's a problem showing your security information right now."
I've waited many hours—days, actually—for the "right now" to clear. I've run all the McAfee and Dell checks to no avail. The McAfee Security Center indicates that my subscription is current; that everything is on, current, or active; and that "Your computer is secure (no action required)."
Does this feature really work? Or, should I turn it off or uninstall it?

HDMI Only detects when TV power is OFF !!
Hey all i need help please as my brains will pop out :) i have a dell inspiron n5110 core i7 , my laptop detects HDMI on a LG Plasma screen no problem at all, but wouldnt detect on my LCD sony bravia ,
Although my other laptop and xbox detects HDMI on the Sony Bravia .. so it seems its only an issue between that specific laptop with that specific screen , as they are both functioning quite well with any other device
Now the wierd thing that my dell laptop only detects my Sony Bravia when its turned off, and i can see it in the NVIDIA control panel detected when the TV is OFF , once i turn the TV ON it looses the detection.
Therfore :
-) HDMI ports are working fine on both ends TV & Laptop.
-) Tried various number of HDMI cables same issue.
-) tried other laptop on Sony bravia screen working fine.
-) Tried my dell on other screens working fine.
-) HDMI detects only on my dell when the Sony TV is off.
-) Updated all VGA Drivers.
-) Reinstalled windows
been researching for months now on how to fix it still no soloution, your support and assistance will be very appreciated.

XPS 17 NEW adapter plug loose and falls out?!?!
Recently purchased the XPS 17 laptop, and first thing I noticed when I plugged in the adapter is that there is entirely too much play, it flops down and has fallen out quite a few times already. Have several other DELL laptops and those are still nice and tight even after years of use~ did they give me the wrong one?? I see no reason why a brand new plug/laptop should be this loose?

im trying to fix a Inspiron N5050 it has 5 beeps at start an then goes faint but you can still hear them
only thing was done to pc was new harddrive put in old one crashed.
got the new one a best buy tb.
anyone have a clue of what makes this have 5 beeps.

Dell D420 - faulty internal RAM?? Only 55 MB of 500 usable
Hello,
I have a Latitude D420. It has 500 MB built-in internal RAM as well as my 1 GB stick that I added. However, with the 1GB stick removed, I go into the BIOS and it tells me that there is 500 MB available but only 55 MB useable. When I add the 1Gb it tells me there's 1.5 GB available but still only 55 MB usable. I also get a memory error message when I switch the computer on.
I am unable to see how much RAM is recognized in Windows becuase the small 55 MB amount always causes the computer to blue-screen when I try to install Windows off aninstallation CD.
Any suggestions - is the internal RAM (and therefore the motherboard) dead, or is there hope for this laptop?

Cleaning XPS12 carbon fibre
I have just got a new XPS12 Duo which I just love. Unfortunately my little daughter has smudged the keyboard next to the touchpad with greasy fingers and I am not sure what the best way to clean the carbon fibre is. I have looked in the user mauals but cannot see anything about cleaning.Any tips would be appreciated.

Help! Network Adapter Issues
My network adapter( Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 2230) constantly disconnects and reconnects while I'm connected to the internet. I don't know what to do. I've tried netsh resetting, uninstalling and reinstalling the adapter, etc. Each time my adapter disconnects, I have to either wait for my pc to detect it again or restart the adapter. My Dell diagnostics tells me my adapter is fine, but it clearly isn't! Help needed. I'm running Windows 8, and this problem has been occurring recently after having this computer(Inspiron 15R SE 7520) for ~8 months.

Dell Latitude 6530E and back up UPS
Do I need to purchase an Active PFC surge protector/battery backup for my new Latitude? I find nothing about the power supply on my order and don't know if I need a pure sine wave backup or if a conventional UPS is fine. Also what should I be looking for - like 650VA or 1000VA? I want to plug in my computer, router and modem.

dell inspiron m5030 wont boot, 7 post beeps continuously, no screen, doesn't respond to keyboard after virus attempted to install
I got a popup and an attempt to install an exe file when i browsed a site with my virus software on. It then went to priviledge escalation mode, and at that point I hard powered down the computer. WHen I attempted to restart, i got the post 7 beep. Removed the cmos backup battery, replaced, tried again, same beep. I have the hard drive on an USB harness on my lab server and the partitions show up fine. Haven't run a virus scan yet. All of the answers I see for the same problem indicate a failed processor, but would this happen concurrently with an attempt to install a trojan? Windows 7 btw. no new hardware installed prior to the error.
