Inspiron 11/3000 Dell Update > Edge/Chrome Inoperable

$

After a Dell Update (Windows 10 update?), unit apparently connects to wireless router, but Chrome (and Edge) just get hung up and cannot open any websites.  I can check for Windows updates and reinstall (very slowly) but still no success. I am able to access Word/Excel files normally.   I cannot run any Dell diagnostics as I obviously cannot access the Dell website (using my retired HP for this post).  I posted this question 3 days ago to the networking forum with no answers.  Can you help please?

TIA

Update:  I was able to connect to the Dell Support Assist which says No Connection.  Seems odd that I could do that with no connection.  I also ran Windows Network Diadnostics which did not ID a problem.  I'll try advanced Troubleshooting now.  Running Easy Fix 20140, which did not help.  All I get with Chrome is an endless hourglass, and Edge is not much better.

Hi

I have downloaded the "Dell OS Recovery Tool" and two ISO images:

* XNR0FA00_W10x64EM(DL).iso
* HXW65A00_W10x64ROW_em(DL)_v3.iso

The questions are:

* Which should I use to créate the USB recovery tool?

* Why are there two ISOs?

* Which are the differences between them?

Thank you.

Hi,

It totally LACKS in Google Chrome with 3 tabs open, one of them youTube.

Extraordinary poor support, bought in US, have to call Danish support, they don't know anything about this model!! I have to send it in. Say what?? First time ever I have to send a new product back.

Dell, What a poor brand - Never again !!!

P.s. First time I ever was spammed with total worthless Dell offers, buying a new product.

Where do I write a review on their website - They hide it VERY good

'Dell Latitude with Win10 suddenly not booting: "Media test failure, check cable"

$

Hi all,

I've been hunting through discussions on this forum and can't seem to find a case of this that fits my computer's specs to provide a real solution. Please help!

I'm running Windows 10 on a Dell Latitude E6430 with an IntelCore i5 2.60GHz processor. She was working fine until yesterday when I got this message:

"Intel Boot Agent v1 .3.81
(c) 1997 - 2011

PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel Boot Agent.
No Boot Device Found. Press any key to reboot the machine_"

So I tapdance all over the F2 key to get to BIOS on the next reboot. My NIC is enabled w/PXE. I try enabling the UEFI Network Stack and reboot. Same error.

Next, I try switching the NIC to just "enabled." Now, the only message I get is one lonely line of text that reads, "No boot device found. Press any key to reboot the machine"

Fine, Dell. I see how it is. I switch my Boot List Option from Legacy to UEFI. When I click "Add Boot Option" a window pops up to inform me "File system not found!" I try a reboot anyways. Now I'm getting a message that says, "No bootable devices -- Strike F1 to retry boot, F2 for setup utility. Press F5 to run onboard diagnostics."

Diagnostics is trying to tell me that there is no hard drive installed. Am I missing something here? Can anyone help me fix my little homie?

Thanks. x

Latitude 5480 and TB16 dock

$

I'm using a TB16 dock with an 5480, and I have 2 problems:

- If I use the TB16 dock Ethernet plug, incoming Ethernet packets are corrupt. Websites don't load correctly, downloaded files are corrupt. However, no errors are displayed in the syslog, and ifconfig reports 0 TX/RX errors on the eth interface. Laptop Ethernet plug works without problems, so now I have to plug the Ethernet cable to my laptop instead of the dock.

- If I plug USB devices to the dock before I turn on the computer, everything works great, but if I plug a device after the dock has been powered up, it randomly looses USB connectivity. Seems like the USB hub switches off inside the dock, as connected devices even lose USB bus power when this happens. This happens even if I plug my Dell U2717 display's USB cable to the dock, or a device which can reenumerate itself without plugging it out and in. Now I use the display's USB, keyboard, mouse, USB HDD etc. plugged in constantly to the dock, this works without problems, and I plug other USB devices during work to the laptop's USB ports to prevent the dock USB hub failing.

I'm using LUbuntu with the latest stable Linux kernel 4.11.3 and latest laptop BIOS version 1.4.3.

Inspiron 7568 Laptop Fan Will Not Spin

$

Friends, My Inspiron 7568 Laptop fan will not spin, actually the fan blade spin a couple of revolutions immediately after powering on but that is all. I tried HWinfo, SpeedFan to no Joy.

I took the fan off and bench tested it with 5 volt dc and it work, I reconnected the fan to the mother board and tested the terminals at the "fan side" of the connection and 5vdc is there? The fan is clean and nothing is preventing the fan blades from spinning. This is very flabbergasting ! ! !

This is a four wire fan,  Black and Red for power, Yellow for sending the RPM signal to the motherboard and Blue for receiving the speed control signal from the motherboard which is my problem.

The fan always have power to the black and red power terminals, normally the blue terminal controls fan speed with negative five volt pulses, when my laptop is on there is a constant negative voltage at the blue terminal causing the motor to not spin but why?

In BIOS there are no option for fan control however the HWinfo & SpeedFan does show the fan information and indicate zero RPMs but the control to adjust fan speed does not work.

Do anyone have a solution to my DeLemon? Please help

I suspect that if I cut the blue wire the fan will spin at full speed when the PC is on and I will do that if I don't find the right solution.

Brand New Dell XPS 15 Will no Longer Turn On Charging Issue

$

Less than 60 days ago I received my brand new XPS15. It was love at first sight and I was excited at all the possible productivity enhancements I was going to realize with such a powerful machine. Two days ago I started receiving a message that machine wasn't able to recognize the power adapter properly and it would affect charging. Then the machine died. I promptly called tech support and they informed me that I would have to ship the XPS 15 to depot to get it fixed and that the turn around would take about two weeks. TWO WEEKS of being without a top of the line machine that I expected to last me for several years without a glitch. I upgraded the warranty to premium support and called back. The technician kept suggesting that I send the machine to depot (over 6 references) as if they sent a technician to repair the machine he/she might not have all the necessary parts. When I asked the technician and her manager what they were going to do to compensate me for my lost time they said they couldn't do a thing. Further they refused to send out a new machine instead of attempting to swap out the motherboard and RAM.

Now this is a really sad turn of events because at one time the name Dell had meaning. It was about quality and customer service. This is obviously no longer the case. My calls were first routed to the Philippines and then India instead of a tech facility in the United States. The staff at these locations are obviously incentivized to keep the costs as low as possible regardless of the customer's needs and the price paid for the premium support contract. When asked to be escalated to an American support specialist I was advised that this was not possible. Frankly after this experience I will never purchase a Dell product again and will recommend to other's within my circle of influence that they do the same. As a consultant and specifier of computing hardware to large organizations I will also communicate my misgivings related to Dell products.  Companies succeed or fail based upon their reputation within the marketplace. Anger enough clients and your business will contract substantively.

XPS 13" 9360

I have bought it new. I have several things which couldn't satisfy my expectation.

1. After shutdown, it takes 20 seconds to show login screen and after login it takes 5-6 seconds to be ready, So it takes total 26-30 seconds to be ready, Is it expected? I think no but need your inputs ( I still didn't install any app yet. Just updated drivers.)

2. About cooling. It is not getting much warm  for now but i just use  firefox or chrome or edge to browsing or watching moves for now. But even just browsing internet, i see cooling fan run often. Usually It is not much noise but sometimes it gives some sounds like clicking ( it mentions me like reading data from a broken cd/dvd). * yes it is not getting much warm because fan run much. I was expecting a laptop which this price run more cool ((

I am also a mac air user and mac has more more and more properties than dell but it run very cool. (Don't misunderstand me please. I don't like to compare it with other PCs but i have to give my impression about dell and others for you see and understand my problem. )

Inspiron laptop (windows 10) won't start windows

$

I have a dell inspiron laptop running windows 10 that won't boot windows. It was booting to the screen before the password entry screen, where it would effectively freeze (though the mouse curser still moved). I tried booting it into safe mode, however, which worked to a degree (it loaded the desktop icons and the start bar), but because the startbar and desktop icons didn't work (nor ctrl+alt+del) I turned it off at the button and now can only get through the dell logo to a black screen with the blue circling 'thinking' curser. I wanted to try booting into safe mode with command prompt - there is 1 file that I would really like to rescue - but because I can't tell it to restart, I don't know how to get to the safe mode start options.

I ran advanced diagnostics and got the following errors:

0F00:1332 - DISK - block 45928958: Interrupt request did not set in time

0F00:0232 - DISK - interrupt request did not set in time

0F00:0432 - same message

0F00:1232(might have been 1234) - same message

0F00:1A32 - same message

1B63:1A13 - AUDIO - user indicated they did not hear expected results

I think it probably means a new hard drive? But I do have system images etc. that I can try restoring to, it's just that I want to save this file first really...

As a note, I don't really know what I'm doing and so really easy to follow instructions would be best. I'm working on the theory that if I can get it open, google will have the instructions to get to my documents somewhere!

ePSA problem with Inspiron 5420. Please help

$

Almost everytime I start up my laptop Dell Inspiron 5420, the laptop will not go to the main login page, but rather proceed on to the diagnostic test (ePSA). I get irritated because I just want to skip it but most of the time I'll need to spend a moment for it to load and then exit from the diagnostic.

Just wondering if is there any way to stop my laptop from carrying out ePSA so frequently? Like maybe to disable or to schedule it less often?

Thank you in advance.

DELL E5470: Hide DELL logo on bootup

Hello,

when I boot my DELL E5470, it takes 18 seconds until the the bootup of my os starts, which takes another 10 seconds, so total 28 seconds.

Is it possible to hide the DELL logo at bootup to see what extends the bootup to 18 seconds?

I have the newest Bios. This are my bios settings:

I use Ubuntu 16.04 in legacy mode.

I'm bit uncomfortable to see a much cheaper HP-notebook to need only 5 seconds for bootup (+10s for os), while my DELL is much slower. Also, I think it should be possible to display the normal bootup text instead of the manufacturer logo, when it needs so long to bootup.

Best regards and many thanks,

Dell laptop 15-7559 freeze

Laptop freezes after a little while of use. Sent in for a service/repair at store of purchase with no result. I notice that there are quite a few people complaining about this issue. I get BSOD error watchdog violation also. Laptop is useless. Are you going to be more competent than your representative?

XPS 13 , 2017 OVERHEATING!

I Just bought a 2017 XPS 13 ; Touchscreen Model ; i7 Processor with 16 GB of RAM

and this *** machine is a toaster!

Its just out of the box with windows 10 Pre Installed and its heating with or without the power plugged in.

It  is getting hot to the point where I cannot use it anymore ( At the Table or in my lap )

Also on a full charge the battery capacity is reflecting as 3 hours and 30 minutes only.

Is it normal?
How do I fix this? I have done the BIOS update , System Firmware Upgrade etc. and everything is up to date. Tried reinstalling windows and also tried with the power saver mode but issue still persists.

What to do?

Filed complaint with BBB - After trying all the steps everywhere online, troubleshooting with Dell

My BBB complaint (after hours and hours of troubleshooting)

"Purchased XPS 13 9365 2-in-1 Computer has major sleep/wake issues when closing lid, computer will either not sleep at all and the battery just dies, or the computer will shut itself off after an hour and will have to turn the computer on. There are dozens of Google search results with thousands of customers having this issue since launch day. Dell has insisted that a BIOS update, then another BIOS update, then a chipset driver update will solve the issue. Well, I am one of the 99% that have had no success in this/these solutions. Contacted Dell numerous times via phone/support forums on Dell and Reddit.. without any resolution. For a 1,399 + TAX USD computer to have such a major defect from launch day, still without any concrete fix is irresponsible. Dell should be all over this, it's a flagship device. Dell has offered no effective solutions to me when I've contacted them directly numerous times. I am very technical. Background; Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering. I am an IT and network administrator at a major financial institution."

Original Dell support said that I should take it to have the motherboard replaced. I asked if there was a new motherboard designed since launch, he said no. This eliminates a hardware issue. No reason to take apart and replace a motherboard on 2 month old PC.

Was contacted shortly after by corporate team who said THE SAME THING - I had requested on my complaint either a replacement or a refund. He said they were denying both, and that I could take it to a repair center. This is not a hardware issue.

This is a software issue. This machine was launched and sold by Dell with these issues and its irresponsible and fraudulent. I will continue to pursue recourse EVERYWHERE. I am sick and tired of BIOS updates and software patches that do nothing. I have spent dozens of hours trying to resolve this.

My Dell Vostro laptop is not starting. I last used it about 48 hours ago. The last time I used the laptop, I deleted some files which were quarantined by my antivirus and restarted the system, everything was okay. The battery charges but the system does not start. I tried everything from detaching the battery and running using AC adapter but the system does not even start. Please help.
