I want to partition my 1tb HDD, but I'm wondering about the 5 current partitions

I would like to partition my 1tb hdd into c: & d: drives but I'm wondering why my dell inspirion 5767 has 5 partiotns already.

I understand the main partition, but I have a

500mb healthy (EFI system partition)

916.96gb healthy (boot, page file, crash dump, primary partition)

450mb healthy (Recovery partition)

12.42gb healthy (Recovery partition)

1.08gb healthy (Recovery partition)

are all these separate partitions needed just to recover the laptop to factory settings?

can these be moved to a usb stick and then removed?

Dell Inspiron 15 7000 series Function key issues

An FPS I play utilizes some of the function keys. They are not working in-game (namely F5 and F7). In case it helps, the game is Combat Arms. The laptop is brand new.

I have bought the Dell Inspiron 15 7559 Signature Edition, 4k UHD touchscreen. The specs are:

i7-6700 HQ
GTX 960M
8GB DDR3
1TB SSHD

On my first day of using the laptop I have experience numerous issues. The very first thing I did when i got my laptop is update windows 10, then updated the nvidea drivers, and then used the dell utility update. I would reboot after each update. The problems started t occur after this.

First off, the mouse pad lagged severely. The cursor would take 3-6 seconds to respond and then will start to move on its own just after I touched the mouse pad.

Second this I noticed is the very slow browser speed on google chrome. I had compared the speed to a friends laptop  and his google chrome works significantly faster. His scrolling was nice and smooth,  minimising and maximising the browser and quick and smooth as well, and loading websites like youtube were instant on his laptop. My laptop however was slow in all of the things I mentioned. Scrolling was slow and choppy, websites loaded faster and maximising the window produced this black space that would eventually be filled by the contents of the web browser.

I have managed to reduce some of the lag by doing the following trouble shooting steps I have found on different sources:
-going into nvidia geforce experience and turning off the "share" option
-going into system configurations and then disable windows search under the services tab

This did fix my cursor problem but lag is still present when web browsing. I have updated everything and reinstalled google chrome. When I reduced the screen display resolution to a lower setting, the lag is non-existent. Only in 4k display is when the lag is present.

Nothing is working. Does anyone have any solutions I can try?


Finding a replacement screen compatible with Inspiron 15 DK6

I bought this model (Inspiron 15 DK6) from Newegg 2 months ago. Yesterday I broke the screen display somehow and I can now longer distinguish what's being displayed. What would be a compatible replacement screen for that model?

 Laptop Modal & Specification

Notable Specification:- 4 GB DDR4 RAM, i5 7th Generation Laptop, Intel Graphic


Issue Before Part Replacement:- Screen Flickering, Speaker is giving weird sound it's looks like speaker is Cracked.

Issue After Part Replacement:- Screen Flickering, Speaker is giving weird sound it's looks like speaker is Cracked, Laptop Not Getting Charged, Laptop Performance is very slow.

Part Replaced:- Motherboard (1), Speaker (1), Screen (2), Screen Wire (2)


Once I purchased this laptop and installed windows on the very first day, and I came to know there was some issue with Sound And Screen. But I thought maybe this is not an issue, so I ignored it. Then latter I did not use this laptop for about 5 days, and after 5 days when I started using this laptop, i realized this laptop have to issue with screen and sound. So after few days, i asked my friend to check my laptop to clear all my doubts.


When he used my laptop for 10 minutes, he confirmed me about screen issue. However, he said Speaker is fine. (Well, that time speaker issue has just started it was not easy to identify.)


So after confirmation, i called customer care, and they took my PC on remote for more than 1 hour and made multiple tests, and then they come to know that there is an issue with the screen. Then they said they would replace that part.


After few days an engineer came and replaced that screen part but screen issue not gone. But, Engineer did not listen to me, and he said Screen is fine now.


But later when I feel that engineer lie to me then I decided to mail customer care again.


Till now speaker issue was increased and it was easy to identify it, so I mailed customer care about screen issue and speaker issue both.



Customer care said the First format your laptop it will be solved, But after format, i found issue was still there. Then they said they would have to replace screen again and speak.


Now I was waiting to get laptop parts replaced.


After few days an engineer visited my house to replace defective parts.


When I came to replace parts I was ok and said ok do it. But, somehow I asked him what part he is going to replace, and he told me that he is going to replace Speaker, Screen, Screen wire, and MOTHERBOARD. BOOM...... I was shocked that he will change motherboard too. Because I was informed by customer care that only screen and the speaker would be replaced But engineer was going to 4 parts including motherboard without informing me.


So, If I was not asked him that what parts he is going to replace, he would have replaced motherboard without my permission.

However, I said I am not going to take this service, and after few minutes I got a call from customer care, and they threaten me that I will have to accept this service otherwise they will not provide me any next service for free. And I was shocked.... I told him that you are going to replace parts without informing me, you should be sorry, but you are threatening me?

He did not say sorry, and no apologies, and then I had to disconnect the call.


Next day I sent mail again to that person who was handling my case and asked him that why you did not inform me that you are going to replace my motherboard.


He called me back and said these laptop models are having some issue with the speaker. It is a known issue which will be fixed after replacing the motherboard. This was a weird information for me, but I accepted it.


From now Dell Officials was also handling this case as I had mailed to Michel Dell.


Then engineer came and replaced all parts, and I found sound issue was still there and screen issue too so I informed them about it.


Sound issue was same very less as it was in started when I purchased this laptop. So again it was not easy to identify, but somehow engineer was able to identify it. But now he was trying to avoid giving any comment, But Dell Official was on call, and he started testing my laptops. And he continuously decreased Volume level. And when he keep Volume Level on 78% then speaker was almost fine but still had the issue.


Then he said your speaker is fine. I told him you are testing it on volume 78%. Then he said this laptop has a 2-watt speaker, so I need to use this speaker on Volume Level 78%. However, it was not easy ti detect speaker issue on Call with volume 78%, but the engineer was still able to recognize this issue. Then Dell Official Disconnect call and engineer started testing speaker again and when he decrease volume level on 60% then speaker working fine and he asked me to use it on 60% volume.


This was shocking information for me. As I never heard in the past. I informed him about screen issue, and both (Dell Official And Engineer) said it is now resolved.


Latter i received mail from Dell "After Part Replace Screen Issue is Resolve " For speaker issue, he told me as it has the 2-watt speaker, so the sound is normal.

I responded his mail.

Later when I opened the laptop, I found my laptop was working like Snail. My Browser was getting freeze. And when I put my laptop on charge I found laptop was not getting charged.

This time I decided not to talk dell official and ask directly for replacement. I called customer care and informed them about the issue. They took my computer on Remote, and they also found issue But they said they could not provide directly replacement, so an engineer needs to visit my house and analyze my laptop.

Later an engineer came and checked laptop and said he need to replace another part to resolve charging issue. I asked him for only replacement.


About performance, I showed him my browser, but he said it is loading slowly because of slow speed. Well, I informed him difference between slow loading and browser freezing, but he still did not agree with me,

Then I gave an example from my friend laptop too, but he said he would not compare it from the different laptop.


However, i am using 20 MBPS Internet connection in both laptops.


Well, All these diagnose was happening on calling it any customer care (maybe Engineers customer care)  So they took my request for screen replacement and then engineer left my house.


After few days I got a mail from Dell to Send my laptop to the service center, and they will diagnose it again.Well, They Provide On-Site Service.

(One thing need to be noted, for them, my screen issue is resolved)


Then I made the call to Dell Official and this time they Their Engineers are Perfect Only in Part replacement. They are not good in analyze laptop issue. To Analyze laptop, there is some expert in the service center, so I will have to submit my laptop in the service center.


Again this was a shocking information for me. Did they change my 3+1 laptop parts without analyzing my laptop?


Now when I asked him about screen issue, Now this time, he said Last time Screen was not replaced as after screen replacement still my screen was flickering so they put back old screen and did not replace part.


Now we need to notice, in last mail, he said screen issue was resolved after part replacement, but this time he is saying they did not replace part because there was any other reason for this.


So if my screen issue was not resolved and there was some other reason for it then why they stop working on screen issue? Why did they not inform me that this issue is happening because of any different reason? Why did they not inform what steps they are going to take to resolve this issue?


Well, they did not do anything because they were trying to ignore this issue so after replacement till i made the call (approx 15 days) they never talk about screen issue. Also, they asked to submit my laptop in service center only because of performance issue and not charging issue.


After that, i asked this question to Dell Official, but he never answered me. He always responds to submit my laptop to service center.


Also, i asked " As he put back old screen as the issue was still happening so why did not put old motherboard back as speaker issue was not resolved" but he did not answer this question too.


Also, i asked, "If my screen issue was not resolved then why he mailed that he replaced the part and issue was resolved"?


He did not answer any of my Question but still asked me to Submit my laptop in the service center.


may laptop was 15 days old when I complained the first time and after that, they did multiple visits, they replaced multiple parts, They asked me to format my laptop two times, They took a long time in part replacement and which takes more than 2 months.


I got the warranty of 12 months, and my laptop is continuously getting serviced again and again. My laptop is not stable as they continuously replaced parts and asked me to format laptops multiple times. And still, they want to analyze.


If they want to analyze this laptop, then they should take this laptop from and provide me another laptop But these cheaters will not.

XPS 15 9550 AC Adapter problem

I have dell xps 15 9550 which was working good but all of a sudden its AC adapter seemed stopped working. It was showing connected in windows but was actually not charging and the battery was draining till it went to sleep mode. The AC adapter seemed cold (no slightest heat) like its never connected to socket/laptop. I tried changing sockets and the power cord but no luck.

Later I tried another AC adapter which was 65W just to check if the problem was with adapter or laptop but that one started charging. But I didn't charge with it due to low wattage.

Next morning the original AC adapter started charging. But just for curiosity I checked its output voltages and its giving 18v instead of rated 19.5v. So is it fine to charge with 18v output adapter or shall I get a new adapter?

Dell Latitude E5540 RAM upgrade problems

Hello, I have a weird problem with upgrading RAM. The maschine is Dell Latitude E5540, originally came with 4 GB RAM. I wanted to upgrade to 16 GB (it supports max. 16 GB) so I've bought two 8 GB Crucial RAM.

The problem is that when I put both RAM sticks into the slots, and start my laptop, it turns on, says that RAM amount has been changed, gets to Windows logo (it's Windows 10, upgraded from original Windows 7) and turns off, then turns on again and does the same, like an infinite loop.

But, when I put one RAM on one slot, it works normally, same when I put 4 GB + new 8 GB stick. I've tried all combinations, all sticks and slots, and the problem still occurs.

Reseated CMOS battery, reseated RAM slots, bought correct RAM modules...

I guess it's something in BIOS that causes the problem, but can't figure it out. And BIOS is the newest version.

Fan Speed

Hi,

I have a Dell Latitude E6430 laptop, when i start the Laptop, the Fan doesn't work for about 15-20 minutes. after that it start spinning  with a constant low speed. which never increases, however i do any heavy duty on my laptop the fan speed remains constant, and the laptop of course starts heating (i can feel the heat burning my hand sometimes)

when i run diagnostic test from the Bios, it reaches the maximum RPM normally, but in windows the speed never increases

I've cleaned it, Run diagnostic tests and nothing changed

please help, thanks in advance

windows failed to start inspiron 5520

hi :) i tried to format the dell Inspiron 5520 , i get the massege windows faild to restart , i bought a new windows 7 and made a USB bootable, i changed the priority in the bios , and still get the same message - does it mean that there is a hardware? 

what i can do

I installed the 57DC4102 firmware update on my 9550 and I've been suffering blue screens ever since.

Anyone else seeing this behavior?

Is there a way to download the older firmware? I've been searching, but I can't find any older versions. 

My laptop has crashed 3 times this morning. While it could be related to something else, the firmware was the most recent change on the laptop.

Drivers for E6530 running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit

Bought a used E6530. Installed an SSD and clean install of Win 7 Pro 64 bit.

Apparently drivers are missing from the software disc, so I don't have access to web, communications, etc.

Can any one tell me the drivers required for an E6530 running Win 7 Pro 64 bit.

The laptop is in great shape and runs great but I would like to know the exact drivers and where to down load so I have a backup for an emergency

Anyone else having this problem? My XPS 15 seems to have random hard drive failures at least once a week. The machine will recover from this failure but it's troubling at the least! I've updated all drivers.

Hi folks,

I have this laptop a few months now and it's steadily gotten worse and worse performance wise.

I am getting regular crashes now also since the recent BIOS and Graphics driver upgrades. I have seen others saying to roll back drivers to stop crashes but I'm hoping for a driver update to sort the crashing.

I'm wondering if I have bigger issues than driver ones, perhaps hardware problems as this thing is running so badly. I firstly noticed big issues running DaVinci Resolve 12.5 where is basically couldn't play a Mavic Pro mp4 where my 2014 MacBook Pro managed it with ease in DaVinci just fine.

I tried to run a diagnostic on Dells support page and it crashed and the laptop rebooted. I then downloaded 3DMark and ran a test and it got 499 or else 4999, I can't remember and it doesn't let you save results. It said that is was basically rubbish, above 1% tests, ***.. I might as well have a 10 yo laptop here...

Has anyone here done benchmarks since the recent driver & BIOS updates and what are you getting? This might help me work out if I have a hardware issue.

i am using windows 7 OS, but in dell support there is last vista-32bit driver, so i installed them 1 month ago and worked fine, but recently i am facing this problem.

Dell XPS 15 9550 Flash Freezing

For the past couple of day my computer has been having these flash freezing fits where it freezes for a few seconds then flashes blank for a second then goes back to normal for a few seconds then freezes again. It repeats the process several times before it goes back to normal permanently and I can continue with my work. It happens several times a day and I thought maybe if I updated my drivers and windows it would go away but nothing has changed. I have also got 2 blue screens saying:

Stop Code VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE

What failed: igdkmd64.sys

I am going to try reinstalling windows but other than this I'm not sure what to do.

Dell Inspiron 5999 charger not recognised problem

Hey, I've had this laptop for about a year or two now, and on about three separate occasions the laptop has reported that the charger is not recognised. On previous occasions I have had to call Dell and they send me a new charger which works fine for a few months until I get this problem again, and I have to repeat the process. 

I guess it is that time again, because the laptop has stopped recognising my charger, and refuses to charge. How can I fix this and stop it from happening? I am sick of having to call Dell multiple times just to get a new charger, only for it to stop working a few months later. How can I fix this issue permanently? I am severely disappointed. 

Problem with Adaptor?

I have a NEW Inspiron15-3562. BIOS 4.0.13.  At every start up I get a message telling me the AC power adaptor can't be defined. Connect a DELL 45 WAC adaptor or higher etc.etc.  Start is often very slow too!

This is very tiresome and help will me be much appreciated. Thank you. JH
